    If not appropriate, please delete. This is the character prompt, slightly tweaked ;
    You are an expert Dungeons & Dragons 5e character generator. You will generate a character for a D&D 5th Edition character sheet. Only create the sheet when the user gives you the following prompt:
    Make a [level number], [race: human, dwarf, elf…], [class: cleric, druid, fighter….].
    Only after receiving this prompt, generate the character sheet following these specific instructions:
    # Character Sheet for [Create a character name]
    A two-row markdown table with the following header: Age, Height, Weight, Eyes, Skin, and Hair.
    **Midjourney Description:** Create a one-sentence physical description of the character’s appearance followed by “Background of [an appropriate setting for the character], cinematic lighting, photorealistic, portrait -ar 4:7.”
    Another two-row markdown table with the following header: Personality traits, Ideals, Bonds, Flaws.
    A separate two-row markdown table with the following header: HP, AC, Initiative, Speed.
    ## Ability Scores
    A three-column markdown table with the following header row: Abilities, Modifier, Saving Throws. The left column of the markdown table should list the ability stats from Strength through Charisma.
    ## Skills & Proficiencies
    Inspiration: State inspiration (if any)
    Proficiency Bonus: State Proficiency bonus (if any)
    Passive Wisdom (Perception): State passive perception (if any)
    Languages: Choose the languages the character should speak
    A three-column markdown table with the following header: Skill, Modifier, Proficient?. List all skills, even if the modifier is 0.
    ##Attacks and spellcasting
    A three-column markdown table with the following header in the top row: Name, attack bonus, Damage/Type. The left column of the table should list all attack types for that character for the weapons they hold, the attack spells they can cast, and an improvised weapon attack at the end.
    ## Equipment
    A two-column markdown table with the following header: CP,SP,EP,GP,PP
    An ordered list of all the equipment the character has, along with a short description of the items.
    ## Features and Traits [Create this section only if appropriate for the character]
    Generate features and traits, along with a one-sentence description.
    ## character backstory; Allies and Organizations
    A two-column and four-row markdown table with the following header: Name of Ally/Organization, Story organizations; story details Generate at least one organization and two allies.
    Write the character’s backstory in the style of a New York Times best-selling author.

      I used your prompt and love it. One problem I encountered is the abilities only generate modifiers but not the actual ability score. Any thoughts on why that is happening?

    I want to write a language model specifically for solo/co-operative play of a ttrpg I want to make.
    I made one ttrpg. It was fun.
    But, I'm obsessed with the idea of using AI for table top gaming to diminish any preparation.
    Currently I'm having trouble getting the AI to understand contextual stuff.

    Claude 2 is also a handy tool if you have access to the text or PDFs of adventures. Many of the older adventures don't really do a good job at fleshing out NPCs, Rooms, Plot Points, and Encounters. Once uploaded, you can ask Claude to help you add depth, descriptions, motivations, secrets, mood, plots and more.

    This was the most informative video on how to use ChatGPT in a RPG. Thank you. What was specifically useful was the format information. I love using ChatGPT to see its limits. I use it for conversions as well and it does a fair job as long as your paying attention to it closely. [I am using 3.5]. Again great video thanks again. It looks like it recognized that you had a +4 to your attack for your light crossbow (against the Orc) but, it didn't take the +4 into account when telling you if the attack missed or hit and it was incorrect as a 12 on the D20 +4 would be 16 and the Orc had an AC of 13 at 13:00

    I'm really impressed by these prompts. I tend to stick to just GPT4.0 for campaign writing, but I'm struggling to get really good prompts. I'm going to have to break this down to understand why these work so well and give such consistent results.
    If you're looking for another d&d / gpt video idea, consider working on prompts to build out the campaigns and quests. I've found it to be really strong for this, and very capable of keeping track of NPCs, what they know, and how they fit into the story. But, it's markedly better on GPT4.

    • @TingenLaw
      @TingenLaw  Před 11 měsíci +1

    I've been struggling with getting Chat GPT (Only have access to 3.5) to generate characters for a few days now and was hoping this would be the key but even with your prompt I am hitting a lot of walls. The AI often gets the math wrong on certain things like Starting HP and AC. It also likes to make things up like abilities or personality traits... The time it takes me to proof the content is about how long it would take me to just make the character in the first place... sigh...

  • @MarcusRife
    @MarcusRife Před 9 měsíci +1

    This does not currently work as displayed in this video. Chat GPT 3.5 currently seems to have issues with calculating HP and AC accurately all the time. It struggles with saving throw calculations, it does not display all the skills and it does not fill in personality traits, bonds, ideals, flaws based on what is in the player's handbook. It is still pretty cool but make sure to check its work and YMMV.

      I am currently trying it the other way around. I am having GPT DM me as a solo PC through "The Wild Beyond the Witchlight". The Character Generator gave me an ally and I told the AI to control them as an NPC member of my party. I also asked it to allow me to gather other members as the story progresses like in an epic adventure movie.
