So I actually sell these on a daily basics ( I work for decathlon). So two things that were left out... 1. The 100 has an classic valve.. kind of like on a inflatable mattress., the x100 has a pressure valve, wich deflates really quickly and will release extra pressure if let's say you pump it too much, or you decide to take a break, leave your kayak on shore on a sunny day where the heat pressure could damage your kayak, the x100 will release the extra pressure. 2 The backpacks have two elastic on one side that can hold the feets of the pump and a strap on trop to stop it from wrangling around. The other side as some type of pockets to put the bottom of the paddles and then a strap on top to once again, stop them from wingling around. Hope that will be helpful to someone :)

@@ReNcEsTaR that's a really good question. I believe they do so in France but I'm not sure as in other countries. I'm in Canada and we dont offer the valve or that service yet...

I upgraded from 100 to X100. Both 2 seater models. X100 is 100 times better. Faster, lower sides make it easier to paddle, quick drying. In general the X100 feels amazing on the water.
I'd be interested in your opinion Arturs. I was looking at both models in Decathalon yesterday, and the seats seemed better in the 100 - what's your experience? Thanks
@@piersgooderham8674 they are basically the same seat, just one is in a fabric cover. Overall x100 is a much better boat.

Extremely helpful video, thank you. I have two one-person Itiwit 100s (one for me and one for various friends who like to come out sometimes). In the summer, I use mine on the sea almost every day. I have wanted to upgrade but tried the X500 and found that it wasn't for me (too tippy, probably because my technique isn't good). I've tried various other brands too, but not found one I really like. The fact that the X100 moves slightly faster through the water is a big plus for me, and I think this might have helped make up my mind - thank you.

We have the orange one and love it. Just as you described it (sitting in the water/river, to watch the world go by and not really going anywhere, chilling).
Well, I was in Croatia on vacation, a gentleman there has his house by the sea and this itiwit 3 kayak has been there for over 8 years, always out in the sun, maybe he hides it for the winter, I don't know. I just blew the bottom gently and spent two whole weeks on it at sea, even on big waves. I would praise the quality and surface of the kayak, even if it does not dry well, but it is a very nice and pleasant material. I like it more than the classic rubber one. When I was sitting alone in the middle and there were big waves, I felt safe and the water didn't splash into my bottom at all. When I look at today's modern inflatable kayaks and at what prices they are sold, I think this is a very, very good deal. I was on it about 4 km from the shore, the wind picked up, but I went back to sleep just fine. But I had to replace the kayak because the original piece that came with it is short, it needs to be longer... But for regular outings and fishing, it's a great kayak, I would definitely choose the older type, it's tried and tested over the years, lots of comments and reviews, especially it is durable and high-quality
I'm not surprised it's lasted that long, they are very sturdy boats!

Thanks for the video, I have the X100+ two seater. One tip for people who travel, Decathlon price differently in each country, basically they charge what ever they think they can get away with. I bought my X100+ in Spain for €350, yes, €350, whereas the UK price at the same time was 399. Bascially £100 cheaper in Spain.
The US price is at $699 and that does not include a pump or paddles! March 2023.
In Germany its also 100-200€ cheaper than other countries. (currently 295€ without any promo)

So, you sold me on the X100 2 person - after a week of cogitation! My budget did extend to the Chelan 120DS, and I am still not sure if I made the right decision - came to the conclusion that I should see how it goes with the x100 and onsell and switch next season if I seek improved trackability and paddling. Previously had a cruising yacht, so can't wait to get back on the water. I had a Stearns inflatable before and took this to Abu Dhabi, China and home here to West Wales on the Coast and into caves. Found your video well balanced and informative. Shortly moving to Hampshire and new places to kayak.

I just prefer the 100 but the floor bugs me and I would like to have more firm bottom but I was unable to find any reasonable fit until I saw this. They are about the same length so I keep wondering. Can you do it? :D

They make a dropstitch floor replacement for the 100 now (although it's out of stock at the moment). Only £135 too, so pretty big saving compared to replacing the whole kayak.
@@Ellie-rx3jt we moved on to hard shell canoe now. Had bought 15 feet one and repair it. But the 100 served us well for the beginning.
So glad we found your review. It was so helpful. We had narrowed down to theses 2 choices but the person with the right knowledge at the store happened to be off sick. When we went back after watching this video and a few other videos of yours, we found we could have a much better conversation with the sales staff. Thanks so much for doing your videos. We got the Touring 100 (2 seater) seems to be the name of the X100 in Canada. Can’t wait to test it out. We will still us our hard sided kayaks but the Touring 100 2 seater will be great for the times when we just want to travel a bit lighter. Thanks again for all the information.

Enjoyed the review. I'd agree with your points on the x100. It's really good quality and the drop stitch makes everything seem so safe and comfortable in the water. However, I find it really heavy to carry! Goodness knows how people carry around the 4 seater! I've purchased a hand truck, hopefully that'll mean more days on the water.
Yeah the truck is a good idea. I carried with camping gear and camera equipment on public transport all the way to Oxford recently. I was knackered before I even got on the water!
The trick here is , the 100 models are shorter and have 1 extra seat, compared to x100 models. You should be comparing the length/size of the canoes, not the number of seats.

I had Ivitivit 100, pumped it too much so floor damaged. Decathlon changed it for more expensive Sayvlor Wilamette, without even asking what was wrong and in another country that it was sold.
Had that Sayvlor 5 years and this year, then left it on the sun and it damaged - proboably beyound repair. I liked Iitivit more than Sayvlor.
So now I am contemplating either X100 XL or Aqua Marina Tomahawk C.

I took the 100 on some multi day trips with long days on the water with all camping equipment. Held up fine. Thinking about Oxford to London in it.

Hi Stevie! Great videos, and I like the cinematic effects too, makes it all a bit more entertaining ☺️ We are looking at getting our first kayak and found the 100 to be £249 currently. As we aren't sure if we will make proper use of it, and the x100 twice the price of the 100 we are leaning more and more towards the 100. We are planning to use it on smaller lochs and maybe canals for 2 person, maybe 2 person plus camping/photography gear. Would you reckon the 100 be suitable to start with? Thanks a lot in advance!
Go with the cheap one if you're not sure how often you'll use it, they hold their resale value reasonably well so if you get on with it, then just sell it on for a small loss and upgrade. If you just want to try something out, you could consider one of the cheapie inflatable kayaks from Lidl / Aldi for about £50 (still available in some stores if you look around). The cheaper ones only have one layer so are less puncture resistant but are otherwise more suitable for beginner / occasional use (they are much lighter & don't need to be dried out for hours (the itiwit holds water due to its fabric outer layer and must be properly dried before storage). This might sound like a trivial issue but it isn'!)

I am sure we will use it a couple of times a month so I’m happy with a midrange like the 100. I’m aware of the material drying thing but not too concerned, i think its a small price to pay. On the strength of your review I went out and bout the x100 purely cos I needed something with more a rigid floor. It’s fab and enjoying it. Now to explode the fens with its lovely lodes and smaller rivers. 👍

Are they about the same? Currently I guess I will take the x100, but yesterday I was at Decathlon and took a seat in an x100 and the backrest made not a very stable impression to me. Maybe not inflated enough... What's you experience?
Seat wise these boats are very similar. The X100 is a more updated design but it's essentially the same comfort wise. I like that the backrest has pockets in for things like water bottles. But in terms of things like lumbar support it's the same

Thanks for doing this video! I just ordered the AQUA MARINA LAXO 380CM from Decathlon because it was in a sale, but I’m wondering if I should rerun it and get the X100, as it has a drop stitch base. I’m 6.2 and worried I might sink into the base of the kayak. My thinking was a drop stitch base would be more supportive for heavier people. Would you agree with that Analysis? Cheers.
Thanks Benedict. I haven't tried the Aqua Marinas yet, but as long as you stick within the recommended payload you should be fine. What I can say about the drop-stitch floor though is that it's super stiff and sturdy, you can literally stand up in it. The X100s have a huge payload capacity too for an inflatable, almost like a RHIB. No harm in taking the Aqua Marina for a spin and see how you feel

Thanks! They don't have foot rests but I've never found I needed them with either of these boats. They are both a very comfortable ride with no loss of response. There are a couple of nooks in the X100 that you could put your feet into and use as foot rests, but I never bother
So is it possible to change the floor of the 100 and replace with the new x100 drop stitch floor?

The one thing I find frustrating with my x100 is fixing the seats correctly which is an absolute pain with the straps which attach to the top of the sides. Maybe it’s just me, but clips would be easier. I just can’t fit the straps through the roller part of the fixing. 9 times out of 10, end up flat on my back staring at the sky….
Also would u say the 100 is pefect for the newbie that wants to do a chilled day on the water

In Australia they are Double the price about 490 for the 100 and close to 990 for the X 100 - that's a difference of upgrading to a proper kayak/boat
On the Inflatable side, you can get a Full Drop Stitched Inflatable, side walls too for just over the 1000 mark here.

Great reviews Stevie, Going to the Lakes in a few weeks and would like one for our family of 3 - If we can fit it in with all the camping gear that is. Just debating how safe though with our 7-year-old - she can swim but is obviously not a strong swimmer just yet. How easily do they capsize if say a kid is messing about lol - We will go to Derwent water and I know there are shallow areas along the shores but just thought to ask. - We took a rowing boat out quite far last year but obviously, that has more stability. The 100 ITiwit seems to be more supportive in terms of the seats being lower and looks like my child would be more encapsulated plus it's cheaper too? Any thoughts or we wait a few years?
Also how compact are these things, do you have any examples of the whole kit in a boot - We have a roof rack and a decent-sized SUV but still struggling for space :-) with all the camping gear and not giving in to a trailer just yet 😅

Hi Matt, thanks! Here in the UK (and it's pretty much the same for most countries) you don't need a licence to paddle in the same way as say a driver's licence. But you do need permits to paddle on particular rivers, lakes and canals. You don't need anything for sea paddling. What I do, and is quite a popular option, is take an annual membership with British Canoeing - the organisation which regulates paddle sports in the UK. This membership includes a permit to paddle on pretty much all UK inland waters. It's good value at about £45 a year. You can also buy permits directly from the waterways you want to paddle on. Hope that helps

Decathlon had an offer today in my local store so I decided to pick up one of the 3seater 100 models for £250 taking it out on the weekend for my first time on a kayak can’t wait. (I’ve got a waterway licence BTW so don’t worry)

How robust/puncture resistance is the X100
Does the pump for the non-x version work on the x-version?
Are you able to put the Itiwit on the car roof? We have Thule Roof bars. And if so do we just put it on upside down and use cam straps to keep secure. Not sure if there is a video on this. Just wanting to pre pump it up prior to driving to lake
Yes you can, especially with decent roof bars like Thule
I have the itwit 100 3 seater. third year that I use it, I thought about buying the x100, but then I saw that on decathlon they sell a compatible dropstitch bottom as a spare! with 100€ I bought it, I will mount it soon. If you have the itwit 100 consider this upgrade if you want a dropstitch floor but dont want to spend 500€
I have that dropstitch floor upgrade in mine, definitely makes getting in and out more secure. We'll worth the upgrade.. I also have a bigger skeg fitted so it tracks better.

Another great video. I'm considering getting 100 and i've noticed that at the moment the 100 2/3 person is cheaper than the 100 1/2 person. If I'm going to be using this by myself did you find the 100 to be too big for just one person? Or is there not much change.
Thanks Ashley. I certainly didn't feel like it was too big for one, I quite enjoyed taking it out by myself when I was trying it out. Personally if it's on offer and cheaper than the 2 seat, I would get the 3 seat. Fine for one, plus great to have the option to take more passengers or payload
@@StevieWyatt if you're not very strong, don't get the 3 seater. I'm almost dead by the time it's time to go on the water. Difficult to inflate and carry alone. If you're strong, ignore me. I'm fit but too skinny 😂
How easy is it to single paddle the 3 seater X100, and how easy is it for 1 person to carry - on backpack and to carry the inflated boat vs the 2 seater?

Really easy handling solo with a bunch of camping gear in the 3 seater, see my recent video 'Spring Wild Camp' to see me using it exactly for this purpose. The 2 seater is shorter so if it's always just you and a backpack then the 2 seater will be fine. But if you expect occasionally to have a couple of passengers/ family recreational paddling etc then it's worth getting the 3 seater.

I've been looking at the itiwit 100 vs the x100 and still cant make my mind up. I'm leaning more towards the 100 as it seems to have modular repair, does the x100 have it as well, if i damage a side tube can i replace it like in the 100 or do i need to buy a new boat. Also how do you find the 100 vs the x100 when it comes to wakes of boats, the 100 seems to have a more pronounced prow which in my mind means less water getting in the boat (could be wrong on that as I'm a novice at this).
I've always wanted to get into kayaking and I live a few min from a major river and large lake so just want to make the right choice. at the moment the Itiwit 100 is €320 and the x100 is €380. is the drop stitch floor worth it compared to the standard floor of the 100. I have watch videos of people getting in and out of the 100 and they always say the floor is fine.
Mate I've got x100 and in my opinion it's well worth the price... when wet it is so easy to clean and dry only need a towel and its done... just my opinion for what it's worth

Good evening mate, which paddles better the larger X100 2/3 or the X100 1/2?
Haven't had a go in the 2 seater yet, but it will be more responsive for solo paddling being a bit shorter. Bigger isn't always better with boats, it all depends on what you're carrying. So if you expect passengers and quite a bit of weight then go for the 3 seater. If it's just you and a camping rucksack go for the 2 seater

I don't think so. Length of these canoes are different. Speaking of the models in the video, it's 380cm vs 415cm.
If you already have the 3seater 100 ,maybe you can try the dropstitch floor of the 2 seater x100.

Got x100+ it leaks air, I think they are recalling it, at least on croatia, or we got inferior product, read the 1star reviews, I got the exact same prob after 3 days.. it unglued at the seams, floor and side panel - the second life program patches them back up and sells again, someone got 3 of them with same problem..
so I got the orange 100 version for 215€ / from second life/used, they said they don’t have this issue of unglueing - shame, x100 is fine, but it failed miserably at holding air :/.. looking at aquamarina tomahawk, dropstitch, 700€ maybe that?

The YT algorithm recently suggested kayaking, and I have been germinating an interest that originated from a few days in Bournemouth / Sandbanks 2 years back.
Bought a Sandbanks Optimal kayak last week and now am returning for a refund without even removing from its packaging. Why? My partner - who was lukewarm at best on the idea - suddenly become interested and berated me for not buying a "family" version! Plans to do a Joni Mitchell re: river, well and truly scarpered!
I then recalled your review of the Itiwit X100, and Decathlon are having a sale. Once my refund arrives, will be buying the X100 instead as I'll require a 3 seater. Harder to escape the family when they're sat in the Kayak with you!

Question. By any chance did you try to fit the drop stich floor from the x100 to 100? I just wonder if that is possible? I personally prefer the 100 but I always taught it could benefit from drop stich. Let me know someone.😉
I haven't tried that, off the top of my head I think the x100 is longer so not sure it would fit. But I'll look into, I'm curious myself now
@@StevieWyatt I will try tomorrow on Beaulie river hopefully. Here is the thing. 100 is 382cm long and 108cm wide but the floor insert is 3873mm long and 66mm wide because of the shape of the canoe. The x100 is 410cm long and 102cm wide but the drop stitch base is 3450mm long and 55mm wide. I think it may be tight fit but it could work. If it does I will be very happy. The issue I take with the x100 is the pontoons and the bottom. The way they are glued together seems like massive weak point. If you look at the 100 the bottom rubber curtain is one solid piece that goes all the way up to sides. I will let you know.
@@StevieWyatt so the answer is yes it does work. There are however couple of things. First you need to upgrade the straps in the 100 the floor is sitting in nicely but there is the issue of security and I am not sure I would be happy with the floor loose there. I will opt for additional velcro straps with loops that will act as anchor point in places where the original one were. Second the floor is actually bit shorter and narrower so the bottom on front and back is not as stretched as the original. However it the pluses are by large overweight the minuses. A) Since you can throw away that sleeve floor BS it is less stuff to dry. B) the additional rigidity of the drop stitch is just unmatched.
Next thing for me is to put some decent waterproofing on the nylon over the pontoons andd on the zippers. After this I will be looking to add some more layers of rubber onto the pontoon insert so I can take them to at least 2.5 psi and also on add some as the undercoat for the bottom to improve the toughness.This combined with the longer fins should make this decent white water craft 😉

I think the X100 is great for beginner. It looks high seated but the recommended paddle I had set to 240cm and it was comfortable to paddle. I even went quite long distance in it in my Spring Wild Camp video. Inflatables will always sit on the surface, but it's a comfortable, stable ride, and an excellent beginner boat
I wonder if you can use the x100 floor in the 100.
Somebody else asked this the other day. I'm going to look into it but I don't think it will fit, the X100 is a bit longer.

Yes it is, they have changed the name recently from the 3 to the 100. Exactly the same boat
Great review, but I think the main, simple thing to mention, is that no one should purchase the 100, or any fabric covered kayak. Every company including Advanced Elements which used to be seen as premium, is going away from fabric covered inflatables, for the very simple reason that they're almost impossible to dry properly. Even if left in the sun, which isn't good for the kayak itself, it will always have some moisture left, which will slowly allow mold to grow in your kayak.
And even if that didn't happen, it will also be annoying to fold back in the bag at the end of your trip, because it will of course be very wet, and if you live in a flat, again, impossible to dry.
Whereas a kayak like the X100, can be dried as soon as your out of the water with a simple micro fiber towel.
I bought the 100 as my first boat and then I read a comment saying how difficult it's to dry and I was like "great I just spent money on a bad boat" I live in Chile and I never had any issued with my boat, I know here in Chile We get hotter summers than in the UK (I lived little over 5 years in London) so perhaps that's an issue over there, but for me it hasn't. I usually carry a towel that I place on the floor so when I get on the boat I put my feet there first and during paddling I wipe the fabric and before putting it into the bag I live it to dry for about 20 to 30 minutes (after wiping the boat with a towel).
Having said that, I'm considering buying a drop stitch kayak, not because I think the 100 is bad, but because I know for longer trips a drop stitch kayak is the way to go.

@@seafoodpizza It helps a lot to keep the kayak dry and also I wipe the sides from time to time as I'm paddling, that helps drying the fabric when I'm out of the water.

It's a shame the price for these has gone up so much, the Itiwit 100 used to be about £200 or maybe even less, the new higher prices really will discourage people from giving it a go and they're such fun!

I definitely think that for long life usage the older model is better because you can repair it, you can buy the internal air tube and so on. I agree that the new model also seems good but that maintentenance and repair subjects frighten me.
A good point. The drop stitch boats come with generous repair patches, but you can't replace an entire chamber
@@StevieWyatt yes but you can change the inner tube completely. the outer chamber is an ordinary tailor job. any stong material would be enough to repair. I also think that the newer version seems better but for me long life of usage is important. :)
I bought the x100 recently after having sevylor Hudson for years. The Itiwit tracks so well with the 3 skegs and is very comfortable...as long as you throw the AWFUL seats away and use the Sevylor seats instead! The Itiwit seats are too short by 10cm, I'm just falling forward off this seat all the time. If I let the air out of the seat, it's much more comfortable. The seats need to be longer and thinner.
The other huge issue with the x100 is the placement of the seat strap buckles glued to the side tubes; they're in the wrong place! The X100 should be configurable for two people and three people with an even distribution of weight. But you can't do that. You can have three really cramped or two cramped! Why can't you fit a seat on the back velcro and a second half way up the the middle velcro?? The velcro strip should be along the entire length of the boat and there should be at least two more sets of strap buckle points glued to the side tubes to offer a better more balanced dual seat configuration. I'll be modifying mine with these added.
Apart from these nitpicks, for £500 I'm happy. It's at least 50% easier to paddle quickly than the Sevylor and much stiffer, better in the wind and tracks really well.
How did you get the Sevylor seats to fit? The Itiwit has no o rings to connect the fitting?
I totally agree that the seat straps are all wrong. I really don't understand what the seat placement markings mean on the drop stitch either.

Good reviews thanks. I have the x100 blue one and it's definitely the better out the 2 boats the dropstitch floor is brilliant and makes a big difference it's worth the upgrade also use it for wild camping on lochs and lakes on the islands...colin 👌👍🏻🛶☀️
Cheers Colin, yeah I think the 100 would struggle on the Lochs especially in high winds. X100 much more solid
