Over nearly 3 years since the release of The Last of Us 2 and its hectic ending and with 2023 already halfway done, I discuss The Last of Us 2 Multiplayer Game and the latest news and updates we have after Naughty Dog confirmed a delay to the multiplayer game. Summer is here and I hope in the next 6 months I expect The Last of Us Multiplayer Game to get its big update/reveal! Since we know Naughty Dog is making a standalone The Last of Us 2 Multiplayer Game that is coming in what looks like to be 2024 based on Neil Druckmann who said the news is planned for later this year! Naughty Dog finally announced that they are creating something much larger than a mode. With concept art from the upcoming multiplayer experience, which is an extremely ambitious undertaking. Naughty Dog is growing their studio significantly to ensure they build this full-scale, standalone game, with its massive scope and immense world, in a way that fans have come to expect from The Last of Us and Naughty Dog. Everyone is looking forward to The Last of Us 2 Multiplayer which is one of the most anticipated things people have been expecting from Naughty Dog! The Last of us 2 Factions may get a trailer soon! Who is excited to play The Last of Us 2 Multiplayer! Could we see it on The Last of Us Day or at the end of 2023!? 1000 Likes?

At this point who knows when Naughty Dog will officially release a trailer or release date for the multiplayer it's anyone's guess. But whenever it is I will be there with bells on can't wait for any kind of new TLOU content

We still have half a year left for them to drop an update and be able to claim it came in ‘23. This and the announcement of the delay on MP suggests to me something didn’t go as planned so they’re now directing effort at it. The casting call for the Victorian house might either be an added group of characters or fleshing out more content for existing characters for MP (which is getting full standalone treatment now, right? and likely thanks to the show).
Company-wise, I’m sure with the show’s popularity and commercial success, HBO could be chomping at the bit to assure sufficient good content for future seasons. And Sony has reason to have their main FP studio not leave the calendar for coming years too dry. Pt I on the PC will probably tide newer fans over for a while but there will be existing fans who want something more than just Pt I on PS5. There are other writer and directors listed for the MP, so I’m presuming Druckmann’s primary focus will be Pt III while still coordinating with the show and for the overall franchise.
I expect Pt III will be kept pretty low profile and it will be on MP to keep appetites whetted until release.

The only update we can expect in the next 12 months is when they’ve agreed on the direction and changes and how & when to move forward. An indicator would be when they put folks back on the project either from the new single player project or hiring from outside. I think we’re looking at launch no sooner than 24 months. 😩

I know the waiting hurts and I wanna see the Last Of Us 2 multiplayer myself. I tell myself I won’t be expecting the last of us 2 multiplayer until fall season or near the end of the year and that gives me some form of peace. You just gotta keep your mind off of it until something new pops up. This helps.
At 6:38 I can imagine a cutscene where the protagonists of TLOU3 in San Francisco look out a window and see Player characters from TLOU 2 multiplayer going at it and comment on how brutally they’re fighting each other then say “I’m not going down there”.
Then again the Victorian era safe house could be in another state other than the Bay Area if TLOU 3 doesn’t take place there.
The MP is definitely coming out, no question about it. Sony is a for profit company and knows it's a cash cow grab for them even if the game is mediocre. Sony execs have investors to answer to. "Here at Sony, we have this huge fan base clamoring for the MP and would be making Sony millions of dollars on a release, but we have decided to scrap the project because it wasn't inline with our vision". yeah that's not happening!

I played a lot of the last of us factions on 2014 all the way to 2020 , they updated the game for like one year and ditched it so I’m worried..
Wasn't the multiplayer supposed to be shown during the last showcase in May but got delayed because of Bungee testing it? If it was I guess the part of the rumor about the casting does not fit the timing... They should have already done the casting for the multiplayer long ago, unless they were about to show a muted trailer... if the rumor is correct the timing for the casting part fits for Part 3, not the multiplayer... that's my thinking

for the multiplayer I think they might do a story with the main characters kind of like a campaign but they’ll add on to it and add new missions to tie into the other games kind of like a fallout 76 situation but not open world. You’ll make your own character and interact with these characters but these characters will have their own story/missions
Honestly my dream is to voice act or physically act in something Last of Us. Kinda hard to get recognition jammed between 3 billion people

The main problem I see and the thing that’s probably going to make this fail is they aren’t sharing enough details the people are left in the dark, and when it comes out, it could flop because of that
