  • Folks seem to struggle with trying to identify which emotion or life situation is at cause for their pain or symptoms. Here's why looking for the one thing may not be helpful.

    Your point about quick, explosive emotional expression being a substitute/deflection for actually feeling (a more vulnerable) emotion feels spot on to me and really important for certain of your followers to understand. Great stuff. Thanks!

    I think that many of us get confused about what it means to feel emotions. The woman Dan described in the video totally reminded of me because I used to think I was feeling emotions by getting angry or crying. But that is just reacting to what happens. I was literally “RE-acting” over and over to similar situations or people who reminded me of someone I didn’t like, unconsciously. As Dan often explains, feeling emotions need to be contained, so we become aware of what we are feeling. He says we don’t need to “express” the emotions, but “feel” them. We need to allow the emotions express but that’s different from us outwardly expressing by yelling at people, etc. because that is a reaction. We kind of have to “witness” our emotions as an outsider, and experience those feelings without judging them. It’s taking me years to learn this, but I’m getting better at it.

    You are such a gifted teacher. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, compassion and encouragement with us. As a TMSer, I often get really intense about trying to access all the challenging emotions at once- or at least feeling I should be able to. Your visual image of scooping out the negative emotions (a little at a time) really spoke to me. It helped me reframe the process. Thanks also for your last point about "I am healing." Again, a very important reframe of the process. Love your videos and look forward to your book!

    Hallo Dan,
    my name is Alfons and I come from Germany, first of all I want to me excuse for my english.
    My story of pain began in 2015, I have worked for a long time as an correctional officer, than I changed into an administration job, and that was nothing for me.
    Also there were a lot of problems with my family. At this time it was Impossible for me to do sports, in the past I have done a lot of sports, everytime. The pain started in the area of the ISG and sacrum, my pelvis was in a totaly different position after this, the pain climbs up to the shoulders and the head. I began to start with different physikal therapies, but nothing has worked and the pain was horrible.
    I am absolutly sure that this symptoms are are a result of stress and ignoring, often it is very difficult for me to accept, that all this stuff comes from the brain.
    So I want to say thank you for your important work, each day I look your videos, it helps me to understand and accept, that all the symptoms are a psychological problem, I have TMS.
    Thank you so much, god bless you
    Greetings from Germany

    Great concept about Reservoir. And taking out a ladle a little bit at a time.
    I have just started watching your videos about a week or so ago. And I had a miraculous healing overnight. But of course I’m back sliding a little bit and now the emotions are bubbling up. So this is the perfect one to listen to. I know I am healing but I don’t feel very good right now. But I also know that will change again thank you thank you thank you

    This helped me bc I always felt I had to know what the emotion was. For instance yesterday I had a bad day of pain. I did still manage to go out soevd time w my granddaughter & step kids. Interestingly though when we took a walk on the water I felt great. Of when I was giggling with my granddaughter putting makeup up on i felt ok. When I stopped caring about the why I felt ok.

    I have had intense anger since 2008. And I have not been able to figure out how to get rid of the rage since then - there is also a lot of deep disappointments sadness loneliness no support system.

    What video of yours do you recommend that best explains the process of how to feel your emotions? I dont know how to do it. Thanks for all you do.

    • @PainFreeYou
      @PainFreeYou  Před 4 lety

      First of all, there is no BEST process to feel emotions. All of them work. Some people enjoy journaling. Some do expressive writing. Others make lists f things that upset them. Some can just sit and ask themselves "what am I feeling" and sit with the emotions that come up. However you can access and truly FEEL your emotions, do that. One process I just taught is in this video: czcams.com/video/E0t7apZyARo/video.html

    Like there are all kinds of reasons for being angry (Sarnoean rage) all superimposed over each other in the unconscious mind and the process is cumulative? That means it's probably counterproductive to analyze and categorize them in detail? In fact, it's counterproductive to healing.

    Most of what I feel is an internal pressure, the choked up tight neck ,nervousness or anxious feelings . With that said, I get confused if these feelings are emotions or symptoms?

    • @PainFreeYou
      @PainFreeYou  Před 4 lety +3

      We tend to feel our emotions in our bodies. No need to delineate between the two.

    hey dan about the last part. I am healing" the way I like to word that is "its already happend" meaning like its fully healed in my mind. now that doesn't mean I go running that day. what it does for me, is what I observed, is it removes the anxiety. and I feel like I recover quicker. I heard of spontanious remissions, using that manifestation term. let me know what you think.

    • @PainFreeYou

      This whole thing is fueled by fear. By deciding that you are already well, you kind of took a shortcut to ending your pain because you KNEW and decided you were already fine.

      Feel them without judging yourself harshly for having the emotions. Then try not to ruminate on the story underneath the symptoms.
