  • This is 1 of the 5 1963 Corvette Split Window’s we found and bought the month of February 2021! I will be posting videos of them as I get them edited. If you look I actually have a black split window in the trailer when loading this car, I bought both of them in Michigan the same day in February this year... I will post the video on the black car next... so please like, share and subscribe for more content like this!
    This is a complete survivor #barnfind / #garagefind that had been sitting on jackstands in the same spot since 1972. My spotter found it back in the early 80’s and offered to help the previous owner get it back on the road, but he said he was gonna do it on his own. Fast forward to end of January 2021 he called him and asked if he ever got around to fixing it and if he would be interested in selling it. Long story short, the previous owner never did anything with it and we ended up buying it and bringing it back to life! These are all the video clips I took along the way.
    If your interested in more videos like this, of me out chasing and buying these old forgotten corvettes and muscle cars and brining them back to life please subscribe. If we get a good response I’ll start videoing everything. From all our road trips buying cars, to all the stuff we do back at the shop. We do complete body off restorations, I am actually just purchased my first resto-mod chassis to build our very first Restomod c2 corvette. We offer our services to the corvette family, and can help you get your project done/finished or started!

    You know how sometimes you do something and you wish you hadn’t. It was 1972 and I bought a 1963 split window for a grand total of 850.00 , it had a little damage. Repaired it all , stripped in down to the bare fiberglass . put a lacquer paint job on it, which was the thing to do at the time, wet sanded and buffed to a mirror finish. Black with red interior, was proud as could be with it. One of the first outings went to a road corse race just to watch, I never made it out of the parking lot for people wanting to look and talk about the car. Drove it for several years and one of my biggest mistakes was to sell it. Back then you could buy them.

      I have heard that all my life… I have owned a lot of 63 split window Vette’s in the last 15 years and have only ever bought 2 that someone removed the rear split window from… so it isn’t as common as they say… I will agree that the split does make the rear view mirror pretty much useless.

    In '85 I bought a '63 SWC from a guy that brought it down from PA. It was Daytona Blue with the same 300hp twin snorkel cleaner, carter AFB carb, etc. It had the exact same rust hole in the frame just ahead of the kickup though not as long. They all rust there. One night I was traveling back to school in it and felt something warm on my leg. I turned on the dome light and found my jeans covered in engine oil. The copper pipe to the oil pressure gauge had sprung a leak! Thanks for taking those hideous side pipes off. Those just don't belong on an SWC.

That way the common man can’t pick one of these up for $20k and stick another $5-$10k in it and have one hell of a nice car to drive and enjoy, it’s better for these guys to keep prices near $100k and above cause the know the typical owner/driver can’t shell out that much

Most of the classic car dealers now don’t go anywhere but the office… they just wanna wire guys for them… I won’t do it I would rather see what I’m getting and make sure it’s what the seller says it is!

      If you watch the whole video you would see I did what I thought it needed and called it good enough. I did a complete steam clean of the underside and engine bay, all new oil, oil filter, plugs, plug wires, rebuild carb, etc… did a light wet sand and buff on the exterior

    Cool car. First thing . Loose the pipes. You couldn't get pipes on a 63. As for the hood. You can check the thickness of the paint , Then paint the hood with the same thickness. You can put stuff in the paint to make it not as shiney. The cars to good to repaint.

    • @1982MCI
      @1982MCI Před 3 lety

      You don’t need to put anything (deglosser) in the paint to tone down the shine. If your gonna paint a hood for this car you’d spray it with lacquer if your wise then a good painter will adjust the sheen to match the rest of car with cut and buffing and you can match that easily to the rest of the car. There’s no reason to worry about nitpicking the paint thickness to match the mils on the rest of the car so it’s not a perfect paint car, just paint the 63 hood and worry more about matching color and sheen and leave it at that, the thickness on this one will not make a pennies difference! The color and sheen won’t be that difficult to match either for an experienced painter that knows how to match

      @@1982MCI Thank you for saying what I wanted to! The car has lacquer on it now, and spraying lacquer on the hood is the only way you can match it. I have fixed many cars with old paint using lacquer.

      Obviously you have never owned an old corvette or old car lol… this car was solid… the end caps on the frame always rust out like that on these cars… the drain hole gets plugged and it keeps it from draining and they rust out of the years…. If fix properly they are fine… we fix them properly.. I have seen them fix all kinds of ways… most guys back in day just welded plates right over the rust and called it good… hate when I get cars with plates covering rust
