Since THIS vs THAT isn’t on a prepped track Hank had to turn the power down to keep the R8 planted to the track. Will that be enough to take down a bone stock Tesla Model S Plaid though? Listen if you're on the race game you gotta understand the electric car the plant will be all of these 67 800 horsepower cars 900 even like around a 1000 horsepower but that's a whole different technology compared to gas motors the plants are really a piece of s*** take my word for my friend has won hes been telling me how great it is when he 1st bought it I took him out on the highway here and Cleveland with my 1400 horsepower Nissan GTRI beat him so bad I gave him a 5 car length's Head Start and before we hit the half a mile mark I must have been 25 cars ahead of him so yes they're fast but they're not fast Fast. Stick with your gas motor cars and build them and don't worry about these electric s*** cars let them run in a category all their own which is what I'm all for let him run electric against electric and stairway from the gas..
@@erwinmonti5066 Imagine comparing an expensive car to a "Cheap' car (It's cheap in comparison). Electric cars are just better. This is a 5 seater family sedan. They could of put 4 motors in the plaid but they decided that the plaid was good enough. Compare it to the roadster when that comes out.
@@lachlanB323 Thanks for the reply but I'm not worried about the road straight all I now already have a Nissan GTR that beats the plad by oh s*** 15 car lengths in a quarter mile and I'm a 1000% sure and I'll put a 100 grand in cash up that when the roads becomes out I beat it by the same because the electric cars are starting to already lose their enthusiasm from their customer base their they're finding out that these cars are terrible in the Winter the battery life is not so good and it doesn't hold up well in the Winter If you get the batteries wet you can have an explosion in the car so there's all these things coming out Now that I believe we'll put a damper on these electric cars so you can't compare electric gas because then you have to compare gas to a jet motor and you can go on and on and get rid of ridiculous the ridiculous the plant is a piece of s***. @@erwinmonti5066 What if the Roadster has 2000hp+? VERY achievable for Tesla to do. At that point the only way to win is to have better tires but then it isn't about the car anymore. It is easy for Full ev's to increase HP literally just need to add more motors.
The problem ev's face is range unlike a petrol car where you can just add a bigger fuel tank for an ev it isn't that simple. However the range issue is going away.
Why don't you test drive a Tesla? They're safer, require almost zero maintenance (Until 600k miles when you replace the battery).
So you can use an ev for over 100k miles with no service while a petrol car wouldn't even function as you need oil changes brake repairs etc. EV's have regen braking which uses the motors.
That Plaid is fast. Which gives an inkling of how insane that R8 is.

It warmed my heart to watch the Hank drive around the Plaid after two cars and the hit.

@@thehawkguy I had an MQB, followed Hank and George’s build, I know all about the daza 👍 the bore is smaller by 2mm on the Rs3 so not literally half the engine. It’s half the cylinders and close to half the displacement but they’re different. Both sound and perform 👌 though

I've never seen a tuner car motor at that HP level live for all that long when drag racing. The thing that impressed me about the Plaid is that there are owners who've dragged them over a hundred times. Amazing the Audi running a stock block. That's insane. Remember back when EFI first came out and everyone thought mods were over?
With the maintenance on that R8, in a year, you could probably take that money and buy a Plaid.
This is the kind of car we need to see the hoonicorn face.. high hp, high boost but still balanced enough to have a great dig.

My RS3 does 60-130 mph in 3.9 seconds and 1/4 mile of 8.7 seconds all on Full interior with working A/C and heated seats. There’s full interior working A/C RS3s running 7 sec 1/4 miles, Name me ONE tesla that has touched 7 seconds.

AWD is a powerful tool, no matter the powertrain. Seems to me like it doesn't actually matter what's between the wheels so long as it has traction. The market for regular-ass road cars (read: crossovers) is gonna go all-electric eventually, anyway, but the performance car sector? On outright speed? I'm not calling it for the EVs just yet...

@@bronbron5788 Well, I wouldn't say "walked". But the Hoonicorn met its match with the Kimbo GT-R, so this - assuming this Audi is in the same league - should beat the Hoonicorn. ESPECIALLY if the surface allows for full sauce. Then it's less "walking", more "mopping".
The Hoonicorn is a shred car at heart and just doesn't generate the traction necessary to keep up with actual AWD drag cars.

This shows the questions of “How fast do you wanna go?” vs “How much do you wanna spend?” still apply regardless of the type car. This race, though fun to watch is really apples & oranges. Especially since weight reduction & tires are the only upgrades available to Teslas. That R8 is just sick but much more expensive to purchase, modify and operate.

Driver did an amazing job keeping the traction on, imagine an awd R8 with same driver would be even more impressive!
more capacity means more battery cell strings put into parallel. parallel'd battery strings stacks current capability (as well as range/capacity). chopping some of the capacity would also cut the current output of the entire pack.
Thank you for bringing the knowledge. Electric has commonality with ICE in that everything is a compromise. Gotta find balance!

@@air-headedaviator1805 voltage would go up, but current would drop to nothing, and it would fry the motor control and charging hardware. even if it did support such a voltage, you'd get increased max rpm, but reduced stall torque, and that's what makes these teslas rocket out of the hole. tesla probably spends quite a bit of thought balancing these metrics
There are still smaller configurations with same voltage and current just not from tesla. When someone does a plaid swap with a smaller battery configuration we will start seeing some low 8s for sure
The cells are in series-parallel modules

The gas engine will never be completely replaced. We don't produce close to enough electricity to charge all electric cars. They can build as many as they want. Wont matter if they can't be driven.

Rimac is only 0.5s faster than Plaid on 1/4 mile. It would get mopped by R8 especially if R8 used top map instead of only 1200 or 1400whp.
