- I went to check out the new Crouching Lion Restaurant in Ka'a'awa, on the windward side of Oahu. This restaurant had been closed for years and a new owner bought it and revamped the menu. The menu is a mix of Americanized and Korean fusion dishes. There's everything from robata (grilled food at the table), steaks, seafood and pasta.

I remember going to the old Crouching Lion with my parents and a child. My grandparents lived in Hau'ula.
It's so nice to see tbis place open again. Can't wait to go and bring back memories.

Aloha Misty. Always great seeing you and Terrence doing a video together. You both go to some really nice places to dine at. This one in particular has great ocean views and the food looked delicious too. Just another one to add to my restaurant list to try whenever I can get out to Hawaii again someday.

Aloha Misty!! Mahalo for showing the Crouching Lion Restaurant. I've been curious since I've hiked there and hung out at Kahana Bay and wondered if they'll ever reopen. Happy Aloha Friday Misty!! Have driven past this spot numerous times and always wondered if it was ever going to open bc the view is amazing. All the food looked great and the fusion of foods. Good portions and loved dishes could be shared easily. Beautiful sunny Hawai’i day!! Loved they provided fly fans!! Adding to our never ending list!! Mahalo for the grindz!!🤙🏽

I did get a chance to checkout the Crouching Lion Inn (Bar and Grill) restaurant, once, before it got shut down (for maybe a decade)... I think I had a Coconut Shrimp, Calamari & Beer. It is good to see this place open up and become successful, once again under the new management. classic (Kim Chi/Chee) Mandoo ! YAY !!! I remembered that there was a statue of a lion in the front area (parking lot); marine motif (like sea shells). It was before a steep hiking trail and a traditional Hawai'ian fish pond.
The statue is still there but in the front door. I think it is beautifully decorated. Never had a chance to try it prior to this owner, but always passed by wondering what it was like. Yes all Korean fusion and robata menu. The drinks are even Korean too. Lots of soju and makgeolli!
Oh yes, I would definitely dive into that food. Everything looked great.

Such an institution, was happy to see it reopened even if under new owners 👍. I think i went there as a little kid but no memory. Great to hear they have some solid dishes, lobster, scallops, and shrimp were the bumbucha kine 💪. (You should've tipped them off to your citronella fly hack 😉👌.)
First time for me, and the pasta was so good! Next time though I would eat inside. I'm not sure if that would've helped since they had the doors to the inside open. I should have gone back to the car to get some, but I was so lazy LOL
I have passed Crouching Lion many times. I didn't know there was a restaurant there. Delicious food and killer view. Thanks for sharing.
Believe it or not the restaurant started in 1952. It has changed hands many times with many menu styles. I think this one suits local tastes more.

Aloha Misty and Terrance: This was a great vlog of this new establishment - I never imagined that that Crouching LIon would reopen as an Asian-fusion restaurant. From the looks of the offerings,and surroundings, they have done a good job with the dining experience. The sights of the ocean, and the Koolau Mountain, were great - reminds me to visit the area during the next trip home. I am looking forward to seeing the next vlog. Aloha Bill! Yes it was such a pretty view both with mauka and makai. The menu was great. I hope they succeed as they just opened in May but it looked packed. Hopefully they work out the minor kinks. Have a great weekend my Tiger!

Oh my. I always would see this place when our family would drive around the island for fun, but we couldn't afford to eat there. Now it's time to give them a try. The seafood pieces were ginormous.
Yes never been there before but never had a desire to go there looking at all the previous owners menu options. This one is more my taste with more local and Asian style dishes.

That pasta looked so ono Misty! I’m surprised they didn’t have proper place settings for dining 😮 No knives to cut your food being that are a pricey place to eat. I expect fork spoon and knife. And the flies!!! Omg. Thanks for the video keep up the great work!
Hi Brian! Yes that was strange about no regular table place settings. They have to figure out the bugs since they are new. The pasta was so good though!

Why does Crouching Lion sound familiar? Hmmm. I'd be afraid of bees, lol.
It's the rock formation on the mountain that looks like a crouching lion. It is a hike as well as a restaurant that has been there since the 1950s. The restaurant has changed hands many times. It had been closed and abandoned for years until this May.
That Ribeye looked onolicious.

There's only one restaurant in which I've ordered rare ground beef. I'd like to always get rare, especially wygu but the grinding can mix in bacteria that is destroyed on cuts of steak during cooking. Nice dress, Misty.
Thanks Wayne. Yes I don't trust rare ground beef due to the bacteria. Steaks are a different story. 🤙

How would you rate vs Nico's, Uncle's or even Haleiwa Beach House?
Nico's I would say it's similar. But I haven't been there in years. Uncle's I haven't been in years. When I went they were just starting at the pier. I live near Uncle's but never tried it out yet since they moved. Never been to Haliewa Beach House. Only when it was Jameson's.

@senemeli8898 I just seen him last Monday. I gave him some things from our trip. I work all the time and it doesn't work with his schedule. We are trying to plan to get together at the end of the month. 😊 adulting is hard.
The food looked really good and the portions were quite generous The only thing is the drive which is a bit too far for my taste. Flies are not a good thing to have with tour meal. Thanks for the video.
Hi Andy. Yes the drive was far but on a Saturday it was only 45 minutes. The flies were a nuisance. Hopefully they find a solution to that.
You should rate all the pizza places u went or go on a pizza hunt

I thought it was because it was huge. I think this place has potential. They've only been open since May but the menu and ideas are great. The mandoo was wonder but the fusion sauce to me was meh. But I like traditional Korean food. So that's all me. The ribeye could use some work but the pasta and clams were amazing. The lobster was tough on some parts but that's what happens when they become large so not the restaurant's fault. 🤙
If there are horseflies present, that mean ewwww, somewhere on the grounds or sanitation ain't right😮.
I'm not sure if they were really horseflies but some were big. They just went crazy when the food came out. Especially the seafood. Thr place seemed very clean to me. I think it's the food that attracts them. Hopefully they figure something out as they just kinda opened up.
Kinda surprised that "Somebody" was willing to re-open "old" Crouching Lion! Lil bit too bougie, & $$$$...for my wallet!-😅
I think if they figure out the fly situation they'd actually do well. It was packed that day and the food was good. The last owner did burgers, fries, and haole food. That was a boring menu.

Yes such as the mandoo we had. There's Kal bi, kim chi and Kim bap. But I am picky with Korean food and didn't order that.
