Ur seriously the best host
Blowing up the hospital in the Dark Knight franchise
How could you not mention that the delay of the building's final explosions was not planned and Heath's performance was improved! That is like the biggest point of the scene!
How about Buster Keaton stunts
Great to see the animal kingdom getting praise for nailing their scenes. That horse was mighty impressive. Maybe Sir Ian has animal magnatism.
Even out of character Heath ledger was on character
His improvising is a lesson in acting class
I’m glad “Blowing Up The Hospital” only took one take. Imagine if a different hospital had to be used.
Ikr
Meh, there's always another hospital lol
*Scenes got on the first take*
Kubrick: We don’t do that here
And Fincher
I snorted
in The Shining, there was a scene that Kubrick had Shelly Duvall do 127 takes.. the 99th take was the chosen one in the film... crazy Stanley lol
@@gamerdad7320 There's a scene in "Eyes wide shut" with Tom Cruise simply walking through a door who was shot about 100 times. Kubric was excessively crazy.
@@gamerdad7320 Shelly Duvall had a nervous breakdown because of that
Fun fact: The part when the Joker was playing around the button when the explosion was delayed for a bit was improvised. The explosion was supposed to happen the moment he pressed it. Oddly, it took a bit longer and when Joker looked confused and started playing the button, that was not part of the script. That bit of improvisation really added a lot to the scene.
It actually really fit I must say. After watching Film Theory on that movie about his true alleged motives, he's a person with a plan that always works. And that scene really showed how stunned he was from something that should've worked but didn't [until it did].
I believe the delayed explosion was too be for it to occur as they were driving away. Instead he improvised to make it seem like the delay was unexpected
"Happy little accidents." - Bob Ross
"NOW THATS WHAT I CALL..I DELAYED REACTION!"
@@KRAFTWERK2K6 I read this comment as I'm laying here in a Bob Ross tshirt that says happy accidents
"Blowing Up the Hospital", one of my 10 most favorite scenes from 'The Dark Knight.'
It's been over 13 years since Mr. Heath Ledger died and we all still miss him so much...
yet you didn't give a shit when he was alive
@@JMB-gt6of honestly so true, I'm Australian and I dont care about him in any movie apart from The Dark Knight
Literally miss him so much, he died I was four so I didn’t know about him until I was about 12 and I wish he was still alive :(((
He died on my 4th bday 😢😢😢
Worst present ever!!!
@@doomergedon7042 I'm sure you grieved to your Thomas the train toys all night
Angela Landsburry’s life is a perfect one take. She is amazing!
All these Hollywood movie scenes were impressive, these people did a great job, 100 percent.
In high school I read how to kill a mockingbird. After my class finished reading the book, we watched the movie. Both the book and the movie were amazing.
I heard the cry scene was a first take as well
We did too (it would have been 2007 or 2008). I especially loved the movie. Atticus Finch has always been one of my literary role models. His name is so bad ass too.
Heath Ledger LEGEND.....
@Carlitos Freaking Burn It Down to drive in for the igdgfddf tdffdffgdff
Heath Ledgend. You're welcome.
I read a comment a while back, and that person said if it wasn't for Heath Ledger, that batman movie would've been quite a generic action movie. I kinda feel like that might be true when you really think about it.
@@Shepard_AU absolutely
Hell yeah!!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🌻🌻
RIP Cloris Leachman. For her final scene in The Last Picture Show, she wanted to do another take because she thought she could do it better. Director Peter Bogdanovich reportedly refused, saying , "No., you've just won the Oscar." She did.
It’s a damn good thing that Rocky scene wasn’t cut. That’s when he says his goal is to just make it to the end of the fight still standing. Without that scene, Rocky just looks like a guy who couldn’t win a fight and couldn’t achieve his goal. But with the scene, Rocky achieves his goal and the movie becomes an inspirational story about an underdog.
Joaquin Phoenix is a LEGEND🔥❤️
I’m glad the unbelievable car stunt from “The Man With the Golden Gun” made the list!
If only they can edit out the ridonkulous slide whistle effect... it wasn’t needed.
@@joermnyc I know, right?
I am shocked 😂
I thought WM added it in at first! Can't believe that's a real sound effect from a Bond movie!
The car survived and is still on the road today.
Great movie scenes from...
'The Dark Knight.'
'Titanic.'
'Star Wars Episode 6: Return of the Jedi.'
'Psycho.'
'The Godfather.'
'Rocky.'
1994's 'Beauty and the Beast.'
It seems like every time I watch a Watchmojo movie list, my watch list grows bigger.
I'm glad the Shadowfax scene got a shout-out on the list, I remember them saying on the DVD extras that they just went "...yeah, let's use that shot because there's not a snowball's chance in hell we'll manage that a second time"
The best scene on this list by far is when Joker blew up the hospital in “Batman: The Dark Knight”. It’s amazing how Heath Ledger nailed that scene without having to redo it again. It still terrifies me, but also makes me laugh because of when Joker thought the remote broke. Angela Lansbury’s song in “Beauty & The Beast” should’ve been #2 instead of at the bottom.
What I find great about Heath Ledger's reaction when he clicked the detonator and it didn't go off as planned, his reaction was totally real. Look it up.
You missed mentioning another first from Titanic. Celine Dion singing My Heart Will Go On was a demo, she didn’t go back into a studio to record it.
The best things are the ones we don't plan
Um, as crew will tell you, alot of planning and (luck) is needed to nail the first take. These scenes aren't accidents. 5 hours of lighting, makeup, rehearsals for a scene IS planning
@@thenannymoh u sound like part of crew who never gets the praise
@@RoachDogggJR part of crew, yes. Never gets praise? I'm a professional... I get paid... Praise is for the actors 😊. But even the actors have put in alot of work and planning to make "accidents" and one-take wonders happen
@@LeonardoKlotz I can't believe that scene didn't make this WatchMojo list. JK, I've made some shorts, and they are so much work so congrats on having done one, people don't appreciate how much time/effort goes into even a 5 minutes film
Fun Fact: The bombs that blew up the hospital in The Dark Knight kind of malfunctioned. As Ledger kept pressing the remote that triggers the bombs, he eventually got them to work and just rolled with the situation.
Edit: At least that's what I've heard.
Actually, it’s a myth. The scene went as they planned.
@@random_name_was_already_taken yes.
@@mollywoodshots6503 Added an edit to my comment. Thanks for the info 👍
@@riiddisbuk2496 No problem. Initially I believed it too.
@@random_name_was_already_taken Same. But Its Easy To Believe In The Myth, Especially When The Actor Is Heath Ledger.
I hope Willem Dafoe's curse monologue in The Lighthouse makes it on this list.
Can't believe the song "Beauty and the Beast" was done in one take. There is another animated film song, "Rocket to the Moon" done in one take.
Heath Ledger he is the coolest and a legend in Hollywood I like when he became the coolest Joker in the movie of Dark Knight franchise and I like his scenes of the Joker
Did you have a stroke?
I mean, his literal influences for the role were Malcolm McDowell as Alex DeLarge, Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow, Richard Widmark as Tommy Udo, Sid Vicious, and the paintings of Francis Bacon. So he took influences from three actors; two of which played iconic psychopaths, a punk rock musician, and a painter whose artwork was featured in Batman (1989) in a scene where Jack Nicholson's Joker prevent his right hand man after vandalizing it.
@@user-gh2rr5hx7c i don’t think English is his first language and if I’m right then that’s impressive
@@therandomd2717 English isn't my first language either
Gregory Peck as Atticus Finch was and is perfection ⭐️
That Slide whistle for the Car Stunt was jarring, true, but this was Moore's Bond. He never quite played it slapstick but his was the era of the over-the-top Bond. It shows at moments like that.
So there won’t be that scene in The Room where Johnny rants on the rooftop then greets Mark on this list, huh? 😂 oh hi mark
and i recently watched Phone Booth. Criminally underrated
This thumbnail: *exists*
My brain: _Why so serious?_
Ill put a smile on that face.
Joker hospital scene the best
Makes best car stunt ever. Let's just add this sound effect. No!
LOL
There's some people who think that stunt was somehow faked. John Barry (or Guy Hamilton) should have been smacked for the choice of using that slide whistle noise.
@@SyndicateSuperman Hamilton was my favorite James Bond director.
@@19torento I remember reading an interview with the SFX guy for the movie and he said it was his biggest regret and mistake in years in the business.
@@ryannicholls702 I still like the scene, though.
That scene from Its A Wonderful Life always makes me cry...
They should’ve included the one take of Naomi Scott’s song speechless for Aladdin😸
Ikr.
What about the Good Will Hunting bench scene? It pretty much gave Robin Williams his Academy Award.
Dark Knight, there's actually a camera inside the bus, filming Heath Ledger whilst the bus drives away and the hospital collapsing in the background. Ledger just sat there, motionless, not looking over his shoulder to watch the chaos behind him. So much self control not to take a quick peek.
At the end of Se7en when Morgan Freeman opens the box containing the severed head. I read that he was nervous about the scene because he wasn’t sure if he could accurately capture the shock and dread needed for the scene but he nailed it on the first take
Rocky proves Sly is a superb actor.
Heath Ledger reaction was genuine.
I am a guy with a simple taste
I see the Joker on the thumbnail I click on it !!!
Obviously I love the dark night joker it’s perfection unlike the suicide squad one
Ah, I see you are a man of culture as well...
He's the villain we love more so than the hero.
Watch Mojo saved the best movie for last. Heath Ledger was a memorable actor!
It’s videos like this that remind me of the absolute presence that Phillip Seymour Hoffman had.
The Dark Night was such a masterpiece
Toni Collette in Hereditary while her husband is burning? SNUBBED.
How did Revenge of the Nerds not make the list? That while movie was basically one take, because the budget was so low. Two of the funniest shoots were during the panty raid. Lamar accidentally kicks the boy in the head while climbing the rope. Then Pointdexter running head first into the wall, because he really couldn't see with those glasses. It really added to the character.
Heath Ledger: one of the best being in the first numbers of the list of dead actors
The Titanic Scene where Jack and Rose in ‘’Im Flying scene’’ was the most Iconic i must say.
The spaghetti scene- Lady and the Tramp
Shower Scene- Psycho
The sound of Music- The opening scene Maria on the hills scene.
The Artist- The coat scene with Peppy Miller
Burlesque- The tough lover scene
Pulp fiction- Dance Scene
The Lion King- The stampede scene
Pocahontas- The Farewell scene
Beauty and the Beast- The Ballroom scene
Dirty Dancing- The lifting ‘’ final dance scene
Gone with the Wind- The view of Tara Scene
Silence of the lambs- The 1st meeting scene
Avatar- The Bioluminescent scene
ET- the Bike over the moon scene
2:57 Kids These Days: What's a phone booth?
*jus here tryna watch something until wandavision come back fr..*
The Dark Knight might be in the Top 3 of Greatest Movie of All-Time.
It's criminal the fact that the attack on port royal by barborosa and his crew in pirates and the carribean the curse of the black pearl wasn't on here
I understand why it didn’t make the list, but I feel the final chase scene in 3:10 to Yuma (2007) deserves an honorable mention. They only had enough squibs for one take and both actors, along with the crew, nailed it!
Haywire choreography is on point
Love watching movies like that
That James Bond car stunt was amazing. No CGI. The car could’ve landed in the river and the stunt driver couldn’t drowned. He could’ve landed on the other side of the broken bridge in a bad position and crashed. There was so much that could’ve gone wrong. Full credit to that driver and the stunt crew. Amazing job.😁
"Rushing rapids" watchmojo has never seen a river lol
Actually the swing Mark Hamill refers to is in Episode 4 as they are running from the stormtroopers!!!
Great research Watchmojo....
I know It's not from movie, but Walter throwing pizza at roof in His first try was impressive, lol
I remember that "Classic." and action!!!
You do realize a whole new world was sung on the first try
The poltergeist scene it was my favourite
The hospital in the Dark Knight was actually an old candy factory in real life
Can you do top 10 reasons why Plastic Man should get his own movie in the DCEU?
go to there website and suggest stuff there
I think that Angela Lansbury’s performance of “Beauty and the Beast” should have been higher on this list. But that’s just my opinion.
It also won the Academy Award for Best Original Song that year. And the film itself received an Oscar nomination for Best Picture of the Year!
it not the performance it the scene
Believe it or not, but all superhero movies that came after 2008, both in the MCU and abroad, have been living in what I like to call:
The Shadow of The Dark Knight. Because it's THAT good!!
The train falling off the bridge in "The General".
hopefully Narnia was on this list. Lucy entering Narnia was 1 take and she did it splendidly!
I think there should be billy boyd singing in LOTR ROTK
In the new aladdin movie jasmines song was done on the 1st take and that definitely should have made the list
#1 also has the added benefit of being adlib. When Ledger shrugs and shakes the detonator... it was supposed to blow as he walked away, but it didn't. Truly sad he's gone.
That takes incredible skill to pull these off in one take.
Pippin’s song from LotR was all in a first take-
That slide whistle 🤣🤣
love the fact that Angela Lansbury nailed the title song in Beauty and the Beast (1991) in one shot (first movie musical i loved growing up)
There were quite a few first takes on "It's a Wonderful Life"..it's in my top 5 favorite movies ever..this one I didn't recall hearing..thanks *=)*
I love Angela Lansbury singing Beauty and the Beast. Enough said.
In the movie of Dark Knight we can see the joker blowing up the hospital where is two face given us a very cool and awesome first take shot scenes ever in Dark Knight franchise 😎👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
stop commenting the same thing and liking your own comment
Worth watching just to hear that Angela Lansbury story. What a professional.
Mojo your thumbnail photo recently my YT profile pic yesterday changed 😂
Joker blows up the hospital!
Damn that car stunt really does deserve to be here, that was beautiful... that stunt man deserved that raise for sure.
Lmao that slide whistle!
Currently I am taking classes for criminal law in hopes of becoming a lawyer
However my love for shows and movies makes me also consider acting as well
23:19 That's the legendary shot from once in a lifetime legendary movie played by legendary actor late mr heath ledger
I love that scene from the phonebooth it's a brilliant film!
As good was Joaquim Phoenix's Joker, here on this list is the reason the late, great Heath Ledger's portrayal of the Joker will always be the #1 gold standard. *RIP*
And let's not forget Michelle Pfieffer's unleashing of her whip on department store dummies in *"Batman Returns,"* whipping their heads off all in one take. Classic.
My father in law was stationed in Thailand when they made The Man With The Golden Gun - they used his El Camino for that shot when he was there!
Matthew McConaughey did his closing argument in one take in the movie A Time To Kill. He told the director that he would not do it twice and he nailed it the first time His emotions in that scene were real too
Never forget the late Heather O'Rourke's famous quote "They're Here!!!"
FUN FACT that Dark knight scene was half improvised. The pause in the explosion was a real malfunction. Heath never broke character. What a legend.
Omg I love all these movie scenes. They are all amazing. But I love Heath ledger. He was amazing. I love him I. The patriot too. Rest In Peace Heath. You were amazing. That joker is unbelievable. And that is the best improvised scene.
I feel like this video is glorifying extremely simple tasks. “And they nailed being thrown into a tv on the first take”. “They nailed the first take of blowing up a car” “they could only do one take and they nailed it”!!!
I'm missing Hans Gruber falling from Nakatomi plaza
Wow! Just wow!
Speaking of swinging in a Star Wars scene in one take, the same can be said about the scene in A New Hope when Luke and Leia had to swing across a chasm in the Death Star.
I can't even imagine the terror of the titanic
8:01 Stallone was really in the Super Middleweight actor but playing a Heavyweight boxer.
I remember I couldn't understand much of what Stallone was saying with that deep, harsh voice and that heavy New yorkish accent hahahaha, but I guess what makes him look more credible is that he doesn't sound like an actor reciting a script in loud and clear voice, he sounds like a regular person.
Whoa, I had no idea that Angela Lansbury nailed "Beauty and The Beast" on the first take, although I am not surprised!
All the dark knight fanboys are gonna feel validated with this video
It is still the best superhero-/comic-movie ever made, so...
I don’t think it’s gonna be here but Oldboy fight scene still one of my favorite, I’m pretty sure it was one take and no cuts.
In the hospital explosion scene with the Joker, he pushed the button on the remote for the last time but it malfunctioned. He kept pushing it and shaking the remote so all of that wasn't scripted but eventually it did trigger the last series of explosions. That's why he stood there for a bit because of that.
Was the truck flip in the dark knight Trilogy taken in one take?
That was a good one
