That would be the low blinker fluid dummy light. They have habits of jumping ship.
Under hood lightttt!!!
Under hood light and I keep mine unplugged and use when I need it. They short out and come on and run your battery down.
As an own of 3 XJs, TJ, and 5.2 ZJ (no WJ) I can tell you that is the under hood light
Pulled mine out of my Xj and added 5 led white lights under the hood. Hooked it up to the same wiring and a water proof switch.
99' 4.0 3" lift 367k miles
Hood light never had mine melt like that
Hood light! I knew from the thumbnail! Lol
Team WJ checking in. I'm going with under hood light as well and guessing the failure mode is the tilt switch failing to shutoff the light.
Four days I found one of those in an XJ at the Tallahassee pick n pull. It was missing the cover. Now, thanks to this video, I know these came in WJs so I going back this morning to see if the WJs in the lot have one. My girlfriend's TJ needs one.
Guessing mines been gone since before I bought her. 04 250,000 plus or minus blew the rad. Cap off going down the Rd overheated, junkyard engine replacement. Only a 2wd love to get the skinny on changing over to 4 wd. 4.0 rules!
I have a 93 XJ & haven’t done much with WJs; but it looks similar to the under hood light used on 97-01 XJs. I actually converted my Under hood light to the 97-01 version + put in LED bulb at daylight spectrum - MUCH better light and the case protects the bulb from water splashes, etc. haven’t had any issues with it getting loose; so presume something is different on WJs for how it attaches
As an XJ and YJ guy, my guess is under hood light. My xj is missing it too.
1999 Cherokee XJ Sport 4WD 4DR Flame Red, AMC/Chrysler 242 4.0 inline 6, 282k miles.
1988 Wrangler YJ Laredo 4WD 2DR Cyan Blue, AMC 258 4.2 inline 6, 140k miles
1983 Cherokee SJ Laredo 4WD 2DR Brown, No motor but came with blown AMC 360, Floorboards are rusted out and gone too. Good frame though.
Underhood light?? My 2004 WJ Limited 4.7 has 239,313 miles, runs like a champ. Taking it on a trip tomorrow. My Dad recently sold his '01 WJ Limited, also 4.7, with almost 340k miles. Miss that thing. Love the video Doug keep up the good work. BTW is it Ruby that has 212k miles?
Nope. She is creeping on 190
I got a 4.7 wj limited. Awesome! Yeh, I had to unplug mine as the light was draining the batt!! ❤
If I had not lost AND replaced at least four of them I would probably not know that your "treasure" was the fried remains of an under the hood light. Jeep parts departments use to keep those things in stock by the case.
You need to add the TJ to that list of jeeps that is the owners to your list. It’s a under hood lamp switch. It comes on when you open the hood. More than likely, somebody had a fire in the carburetor.
My 02 WJ is at 237k, replaced the 4.0 about 3 years ago after piston skirt failure.
looks a bit like the under hood light that fell off, sat on the exhaust for a while before hitting the road. I'm in Australia with a 2000 WJ, 4.7 with 60,800 miles, one of the last US imports before they were imported from Austria.
lol this is why i put a led bulb in my zj under hood light i gess the same thing happens they get stuck on in ur case almost burn the jeep down
Most definitely the Workmens light and I think the failure point is because of the heat soaking that it goes through
Under hood light, and they are not exclusive to WJs. They are found on Ram trucks and Dodge Chargers too, which is how I knew before I saw the comments.
When replacing them, do not be tempted by the cheap aftermarket versions. They don’t work! Use an OEM Mopar part for best results. 😉
And, I do not own a WJ or other suv versions with Jeep logos - I have a JL Wrangler. 😎
Under hood light. My WJ is a 2000 Limited . 4.7 V8 261'000 klm ( Australia ) . I take it it dropped off onto the exhaust .
They always seem to find the exhsust
Hood light falls out of Rams too!
Pure Jeep
Hey.. who let you in?!
@@DEInTheGarage Oh… me, just a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee owner as well - it was the divorcee abandoned/military auction buy about 2 years ago
My under hood light came in the back of my 2000 wj 4.0 with 212k miles when I bought it…
04 with the 4.0 with 230K plus miles on it, BUT, she's all rotted underneath and won't pass the yearly anymore. And its got some electrical gremlin that keeps killing it dead. IDK what I'm going to do with it, been sitting in the driveway since November.
That is nothing else than the turbo encabulator of your Jeep!
Usually missing. No light under hood
'99 WJ, 4.0, 152k miles. Its under hood light is still functional 🤓
I’ve only seen them on 99 and 00. Mine was gone and I was able to replace it
04wj 188650 miles. I've actually never seen that pitcular light still attached to the vehicle..
It's the Flux Capacitor ⚡
I don’t think my 04 had the light. If it did it never worked
Is that the model with the mercury switch? Illegal to resell in the People's Republic of Illinois.
Seriously? That is nuts..
As an illinois resident, i did not know this. Had to google it.
Funny thing is on 2 seperate occasions i have bought new old stock 80s GE silent mercury light switches (like single pole household light switches) at a local habitat restore.
A dingleberry.
Engine compartment light.
Do those have mercury inside them like in a Ford?
Zj hood lamp. My 04 wj dont have one
W.j ..4'7.. overland 04.....under the hood inspec light
Under hood light
2004 Grand cherokee 4.7 ho overland blue 208,000 milre
Under the hood light,
No Point in answering the question. Every one knows what they are.
No ever loving clue
I have a2001 jeep grand Cherokee Laredo. My Baby!
Under hood light
