Such a brain dead take. There are a lot of disabilities not including autism that people cant wait for like Crohns disease. People who abuse it are just going to fake autism to still get the pass.

Not true because there are real physical limitations which make it very painful to stand in line for an extended time. People do not want to have to use a wheel chair or mobility device. It seems WDW is forcing that to happen. There's enough congestion with strollers now multiply that by mobility devices.

The problem is that there are people who need DAS legitimately whose disability isn’t due to a developmental disability! Also, the belief that DAS helps people “skip the lines” is not the correct way to put it. You still have to wait the same amount of time to ride, just get to wait elsewhere. And then you still have to wait a bit, because they put you into the lightning lane line, and sometimes that has a bit of a wait. I have DAS for a non developmental disability, and I have had times where I waited for my return time, went into Lightning Lane line, and still had to get out of line and miss the ride because the LL wait was too long. I agree that DAS abuse is a problem, but narrowing it down to only people with cognitive disabilities is not great either

I just want TO ADD***** DAS does not mean that you get to skip the lines. The DAS pass allows you to reserve a come back time that is the same time as the current wait time. We cannot select multiple DAS passes at the same time either. For example if Frozen is a 45 minute wait time, we still have to wait 45 minutes, just not in line. ****
It is difficult for my son who is on the autism spectrum (along with other developmental delays) to stand in a long line without becoming overwhelmed, not still, and overstimulated. All this leads to a complete meltdown, and people staring at us. Autism DOES NOT have a look. They would never have known he was autistic, and is overstimulated, unless I tell them. NOT only does it put a damper in on our expensive DISNEY trip, it ruins it for the strangers waiting in line with us! DAS has been a great help to us in so many ways! ALSO, for you guys who are trying to abuse the DAS , jokes on you!! YOU STILL HAVE TO WAIT! lol

our son is autistic. waiting in lines for him is a crap shoot. sometimes it’s ok. others is a melt down, which can be embarrassing for him and us. DAS pass has let us enjoy the Disney parks without any possibility of incident. Trust me when i say, we wish that we didn’t have to get the pass. Having a child with a disability is challenging. Before we knew about the pass we looked at disney as a chore. nobody likes a $1000 disney day chore. Now we know we can enjoy the park and not have to worry.

They wait as long as the standby que before they can board. Also, there are abilities to have more approved for the DAS if traveling with a larger family. PLEASE learn about it before you talk about it. You provided some inaccurate information.

@KylePalIo I'm aware of the new policy. Again, it's not line skipping. You still wait, just not in que. If you want to say people who didn't need it, tried to use it as a way to get privileges, then say that. You made a blanket statement that everyone that has the DAS is skipping lines, and that's not true. Believe me, I've seen your fellow vloggers lie about DAS on camera and use it when they don't need it. You shouldn't be offensive to those who use a DAS because they need it, and it's not line skipping either way.

We've used Das pass when we've traveled to Disney world with our autistic son- the process doesnt seem to be changing- we always did a zoom interview prior to our trip.🤷🏼‍♀️ However, for universal documentation is required to be uploaded.
At Disney world we were always given a return time once we checked in at a ride. At Disneyland, they just direct us to lightning lane. For us, this has been super helpful- sometimes our son is ok, as long as I make space gaps in line to create a buffer zone for him- but guests get annoyed or if he "shuts down" he will not move- and it becomes very overwhelming for him.

I’m curious to see how this will all play out with the new DAS pass. Personally, I have diabetes and experience lows. For me low blood sugars are triggered by heat and exercise. If I’m standing in line for two hours in 100 degree heat after walking miles I might pass out. I’ve used DAS on my last trip and it worked well for us. Only used it when I needed it otherwise I waited in line. I felt good knowing if I had to get out of line I could be accommodated to go back in.
Maybe Disney should add a fifth gate or add more attractions so people don’t need to wait hours in line.

The first time we used it years ago we did have to go to guest relations for them to take a picture of him for the system but had already did the interview. I didn’t know you could get DAS as a walk up. The wait time on the phone seems to be really long sometimes. Maybe this is why? The person with the disability has to be present during the interview. The cast members that interviews us are always nice they even show fun little Disney toys sometimes to my son. Although we go to Disney every year we still have to do the interview every time. It’s a shame for people to abuse it. Being a mom with a child with autism/sensory processing disorder, I appreciate Disney for having this for kids like my son.

I'm glad Disney is doing something about it. I just hope it doesn't take away this opportunity for somebody who really needs it. Honestly all of the lines are very disability friendly when it comes to mobility issues etc. I really believe this is more for people who havethe hidden illnesses. Things like colitis and developmental disorders that are psychologically and cognitively restrictive on their abilities to do the lines, stuff like that. I just hope that the people who really need this service will still be able to have it.

And a form that is somehow official (either by letterhead, seal, etc.) also have a set list of disabilities/conditions that automatically get accepted, but not have that list visible to the public so that the fakers can’t say “I have (such-and-such) disability”.

I called yesterday- I was told no medical documentation will be required. I think they just want people to do the zoom interviews prior to arrival. They don't want guests showing up and requesting in person. And yes, the pass should be longer. At Disney, it's every 60 days

I thinks it’s good. Those that have the disability won’t have any problems it’s the ones that are working the system. Now go and change that only service animals can be in there. Not support animals. Anyone can get a vest and say they are for support. You don’t need it at a park.

The problem with the changes in application for DAS for those who need this as adults is that they are often not able to communicate effectively their needs without undue stress and fear of the changes so many independent autistic and impaired adults will probably brave the lines and hope that they don’t get people phobia meltdown Like Sheldon trying to wait in a long line of strangers. PTSD

I don’t think there was “misuse” or “abuse” per se. Disney has willingly allowed these people to use DAS. The wording of banning people who are dishonest or use it incorrectly has always been there and always been enforced. I don’t think people were lying… I think a few people made a TikTok about how they got it, and everyone else with that condition or something similar thought, hey that’s me too.

I welcome Disney making the change. Universal changed their process where you have to provide documentation from your medical provider which I think is wonderful to stop abusers of the system. It is a much needed service and it’s a shame people have abused it. I hope this weeds out those people and does not hinder the ones who really need it.

At its core, this is about line jumping. Unless you grew up without ANY human interaction at all, everyone recognizes that line jumping is a no-no. Ask any grade school kid if line jumping is right and fair, and nearly all will answer with an emphatic “NO!” (The only one who WON’T answer that way is the class bully who has made line jumping an art.) It will soon come to the point where ANY and ALL special privileges will be eliminated because people simply can’t be civil, mind their manners, and treat others as they themselves would like to be treated. It’s already started with airlines announcing that they will begin to eliminate seats that recline (yes, it’s all of 3” but they still refer to it as ‘reclining.’) They say it’s to lighten the weight of planes but I’m pretty sure they’ve gotten tired of all the STUPID drama that results from passengers reclining in their seats. Solution: eliminate the option that’s the source of all misery so EVERYONE’S miserable. Congratulations, people, you’ve made the world just a little bit more unbearable.
