With monero you don't need any super expensive rig to mine. Profits may not be ideal given electricity costs but some of us in the crypto world like to do it just to help secure the network. Surprisingly not everyone is in it for the gains. :)

Guy, please look into "Flat coins". These are coins that pegged to inflation data to maintain a stable value for the currency. I think the folks at Truflation are working on one. It'd be interesting to hear your take on such coins.
fiat currencies are an IOU and are backed by trust in the ability of the issuer to make good on this IOU. Bitcoin is backed by nothing and is not even an IOU ... BTC only has value in its utility, which is almost worthless at 7 tps.

Every specialized field of knowledge necessarily has its own jargon such as philosophy, economics, electronics, medicine, physics, etc. Cryptocurrency is another steep learning curve for initiates wanting a good understanding of how it all fits together. Listening to Coin Bureau Guy made me realise that there are layers of abstractions to wade through in order to understand him. This talk went waaaaaay over my head, and demonstrated to me just how little I know about the world of cryptocurrency. I will persevere, though, because I need to.

Sounds like a specific DAO with the goal of meeting this "perfect crypto" hypothesis is the only thing that'd work. Something that would create it's own money and currency, decentralized and created by vote or design of the community then stored decentrally throughout multiple other blockchains further decentralizing it's inner core design.
