I consider it the best in all of anime tbh. Well paced, action packed, amazing villain, amazing buildup, stakes on the level of AOT and game of thrones were literally everyone is dying left and right, and kishimoto covered the “cycle of hatred” story line beautifully.

Kakashi catching Naruto and saying "Hes gotten heavy" is a callback to when he carried Naruto from Final Valley after his fight with Sasuke saying "he's gotten light." I think it's both physical and metaphorical.

Seeing Lindsay's reaction to this episode is so wholesome. Naruto's goal was to become Hokage so that everyone in the Leaf Village would respect him. Well he accomplished that...as a 16-year-old genin, a very strong genin.
Become hokage doesn't mean people to acknowledge you those who are already being acknowledged will ever become hokage
There are 3 things Naruto will guarantee you:
1) you’ll cry
2) Naruto will win
3) Iruka will be hiding in the corner having flashbacks every time someone in the show succeeds

I know what you mean, and I think I know why - Naruto always saw his struggle as "becoming the Hokage so everyone will recognize me."
In his head, becoming Hokage was the target, but truthfully, it was about being acknowledged as a person by the rest of the village. In fact, he had cause-and-effect mixed up: if he wasn't recognized by the village, he could never become Hokage, no matter what he did.
Naruto's real desire, his true dream, has always been to be acknowledged as worthwhile by the village. And in his return to the village after facing Pain, he gets exactly that. He's achieved what he struggled for for so long.
After this, he wants to become Hokage to protect the village.
I always saw the Pain arc as the peak of Naruto, even though there's so much cool shit that comes afterwards that I absolutely love, and I think the completion of that narrative and emotional arc is why.

This is by Far the best Arc, the peak of shounen not Only The peak of Shippuden. So fuckin Fire so many Epic shits happen, pain the best antagonist by Far in the series, he fought kakashi and killed him, destroyed the village With That almitghy push which gives goosebumps every time, fought naruto, pinned him down and questioned the protagonist If he had a solution to end the cycle of hatred, Naruto didnt have EVIDENTLY, he's a child, pain Even fought and stabbed Hinata doing so he proved his points to naruto, this Guy even fought kurama even though beeing almost completely drained. I think That's it LOL, WHAT a masterpiece period of Epic events, wouldnt You agree??

I think Kishimoto said that he had planned the end panel of Naruto when he created the story and that ending panel has no place in this arc, so I don't think he planned to end it here.
I wouldn't make sense to end it here, we wouldn't know what happens with Sasuke and the other Akatsuki members

Members of the akatsuki were still alive and major threats. Sasuke still targetting the leaf. Danzo being sneaky. Too many loose ends that never get resolved. It would be impossible to end it here

This concludes one of if not the best arc in all of Naruto. I don't know what was fueling Kishimoto as he was writing this arc but he must've been like a well oiled machine with how amazing it was from start to finish.
Personally I think it was due to the built up. If Itachi had been a single villain it just wouldnt be as good. But having the other members really increase to how dangerous he was and a good reason for Naruto to get gradual powerups.
This is the moment all Naruto fans had been waiting for. Finally Naruto got the acknowledgement he's always been looking for. Seeing Iruka cry there really hits hard. One of the first who gave Naruto some love.
If it ended right there I wouldn't even be mad.

It's so funny how so many reactors put in Shikamaru for Hogake. He is even less Hogake Material than Naruto at this point, or ever. The Hokage is supposed to be the strongest Ninja in the village.
Shikamaru's only strenght is his intellect, how is that gonna protect the leaf in a war, when he has to go up against Particle Style from the Tsuchikage?
And even if his intellect would qualify him to be Hogake, why do people forget that Shikaku exists? He is exactly the same as his son, but smarter and with more experience... I like Shikamaru, but he is so damn overrated. It's the same with saying Batman with Prep Time could beat anyone lol

Pain ❤️❤️🔥🔥🥲 They all felt pain, died and came back. Pain literally changed the fate of Hidden leaf Village and Naruto.
This could be the ending of this show in these conditions:
1 - Madara was dead.
2 - Sasuke would just return to the Leaf after beating Itachi because well... there was no truth since Madara was dead.
3 - Put Danzo behind bars for all the schemes he has done "for the Leaf's sake" he says.
4 - Killer Bee would just return to the Cloud village, cancelling the Five Kage Summit.
I found my closure.. as naruto was acknowledged by the whole village and lindsay's reaction

Watching the whole arc again was such a roller coaster with you guys also lindsay being all sad about kakashi dying was a cherry on the cake and carson giggling ( in the corner) about potential spoilers/10,000 IQ predictions by lindsay is just hilarious.

the way I see this whole thing goes like this: this was the Naruto Finale, it ends Naruto's original character arc and wraps up like a story finale. the new Naruto is established in this arc, recognition was achieved however now it's a quest for peace for 16 year old Naruto, a new character arc. and we all know 479 is the revolution boy's finale, mirroring the first fight but that's for later.
this episode is such a feelgood episode, I really like the semi recap with how the village's opinions slowly changed since we never saw any of their opinions after the chunin exams and it seemed like they didn't care about Naruto anymore so it touched on a subtle detail and I love it
If it ends how you say it what about sasuke will he just disappear no naruto would have to fight him again

Katsuyu retrieved so much bodies from rubles too to heal them as can. So when rinne tensei ressurect all, many will be unharmed

True peace was achieved at end of shippuden but new enemy’s came in boruto
The unresolved plot threads by the time Pain dies are pretty well established by shonen standards. Pain not being the real leader of Akatsuki was set up before the Itachi fight. Jiraiya with the scroll frog introduced the idea that the 9 tails was manually summoned and also that Naruto is supposed to eventually learn to control the 9 tails. There's all of the Madara-Sasuke talk and the 8 tails abduction incident leading to the Raikage wanting a kage summit. You compared this to the DBZ Cell having stuff unresolved and it's true Vegeta was left hanging but DBZ overall didn't do a lot of setup for the next arc until very late if at all. Piccolo birthing Piccolo Jr for example happened at the last second, there was no setup for Raditz, Raditz obviously said more Saiyans would be coming, but Frieza wasn't hinted at until very late, then Androids/Cell/Buu weren't set up until the arcs that they're the main villain in.

ya'll really are dense. I said "in a perfect world", which means, this would be lined up as the ending and there would be no loose ends. Naruto has always been about Naruto, and all it needs to be is a simple story about him gaining everyone's respect and becoming a hero. He doesn't have to save the world or attain world peace to have a good story. A lot of the grandiose shit that comes after this could have easily been cut. Lot's of shit including Sasuke and Madara would be re-worked. All the dumbass giant monster battles that are coming, changing the main villain 50 times and by the time you get to the actual bad guy it's already like "alright c'mon dude this is fucking stupid and i dont care anymore". All that shit shoulda been either cut or reordered or reworked to be resolved by the time we get to this point, and this should've been the end.

Nagato reviving everyone was his response to the contradiction at hand. Through pain and destruction, Nagato was able to share his despair with Naruto. And with that understanding, Naruto was able to find his answer to find true peace through non-violence. But if violence begets non-violence then Nagato was right, he did find peace through showing the world pain. Reviving the leaf, taking away the pain, was Nagato betting on Naruto's philosophy of Peace and rejecting his old ways.
.............Besides, they're still smack dab in the middle of the cycle of hatred. Most of the people he revived end up dying away.......

Being young is not an excuse to not be a kage, since Gaara is the kazekage. The problem with Naruto is that he's a gennin. Gaara probably did whatever he had to do to be the kage and there was no one better than him as an option in the village.
