- Let's explore how 50 different effects pedals react to the same phrase played on harp! I hope you enjoy these effects pedals on electric harp. These are some of my favorite effects pedals for harp.
Curious about how I use effects pedals with my harp?

So useful! [adds 50 items to wish list]
😂
starting with the potato i hope
49 if you already have a potato in the kitchen
48 if you have stereo potatoes in the kitchen
Haha!! 🤣
I demand the next video be playing this through all 50 pedals at once. I want shoegaze harp. Thank you.
personally the 8 tentacles sounded the best... put that cacophony through a reverb, delay & chorus/phaser & play an hours worth of anything would get close to lou reed's metal machine music... is all subjectively pesonal
_H A R P G A Z E_
I love how so many of these pedals have their aesthetic printed on them visually too :)
You seriously have all the sickest pedals. Literally I want all of them… even the potato🤣
Lmao the potato is probably my favorite!!!!
@@emilyharpist I like the tato too, I bet it sounds amazing deep fried
Potato effect be slappin’! Lol, cool video :) So pedal, too effect!
Hahaha now everyone knows that playing a harp through a potato (in mono or stereo) doesn't really work
@@emilyharpist lol
@@Reprodestruxion , or fried or even microwaved 😋👌
Alot of these sound great, but honestly one of my favorite parts is just seeing the pedals themselves, some of them are absolutely gorgeous!
Thank God I can at least afford the potato
With the right settings you could bake the potato, make fries, or do some shredding and make hash browns.
Get a job
@@UmVtCg I guess I could get another on top of the two I already have, but I think my medical bills might still have to come first, but thank you for the suggestion
Have you seen the price of the potato lately? The stereo version is through the roof!!!
in this economy?!?
When you unlocked all items in the game💯
LMFAOOO
what an interesting experiment! now you can see the difference btwn those crazy boxes very clearly.
I’m glad you enjoyed it David!!
This is the perfect intersection between absurd and amazing lmao
Hahahaha thank you so much Nick!!
Gorgeous, someone needs to make a 10 hour loop of this.
Hahaha I should do this!!! Or find 50 more pedals so it could be longer. Maybe more potatoes too
Pedals have come a long way since I played Guitar in the '90s.
Some of these are absolutely gorgeous.
Almost makes me want to buy 50 pedals and start playing again.
As a guitar player it’s cool to hear the effects you are testing but nothing beats the sound of the harp all by itself! Beautiful instrument.👍❤️🇨🇦
Thank you so much!!! ❤️
Ahh I’ve come down the rabbit trail of CZcams, but I’m so happy to be here! I’ve got sooo many questions but not sure where to start.. lol
HEY!!!! here from Ludwigs stream you are REALLY TALENTED and CONGRATS ON 10K!!!! you deserve it
I JUST WATCHED IT LIVE AND I’M CRYINGGGG I CANT BELIEVE HE DID THAT 😭❤️ 10K was my goal for the end of 2021 hahah so I am legit on cloud 9 right now!! Thank you so much for being here!!
The Astronomer is such a good pedal. A comet observatory cover with that would be so delightful
You’re so right!! Omg. I recently tried the cosmonaut from the same company recently and I might get that one soon! It’s got similar qualities to the astronomer. I need to get back into more VG covers!
@@emilyharpist omgggggg yeeeeessssss
@@guidocavallo 😊
I tried that one secondhand at guitar center several months ago, but passed on it cause it was expensive. Then i went home and gushed to my wife about how rad it sounded. It showed up in the mail 2 days later (thanks, wifey!)
Possibly the most useful and certainly the most comprehensive pedal review I have ever watched :-) Thank you, my synths will be grateful !
Can’t wait for the Visitor and Lo Fi Junkie demos!!
I love this, now it'll be stuck in my head all day!
Thank you so much for this video! While I don't play harp and only have passing familiarity with stringed instruments (dabbled in guitar and bass), this is IMMENSELY helpful for my effects shopping list, since these would be great just routed through an analog synth setup. Most demos always have different phrases and musical pieces so sometimes I find it hard to discern what exactly the effect brings to the table. 50 different pieces of gear using the same phrase REALLY helped me get a list of my must haves!
I'm so glad this helped you!!! It's a difficult thing for us pedal-demoer's for sure! I think it's important to hear what kind of playing works well with a specific pedal so we can do our best to showcase the most positive things, but i think it's so important to show a constant sometimes. Thanks so much for your comment!! Also I'm so in awe that you have 140 subscribers but no videos on your page 😂
@@emilyharpist I used to read bad Sonic fanfic and had like 200 videos, but when COPPA became a thing on YT, even tho the fanfic I found was VERY not child friendly, it autotagged everything as "for kids" and turned off comments and everything. I basically got fed up with it and nuked the channel. I'm surprised 140+ still have stayed, it's been, like, a year and a half?
@@TheAmazingSpiderPunk damn I’m mad that I missed out on that sonic fanfic lmao 😂 but for real I laughed out loud at your comment, 10/10 did not expect that to be the answer
Wow, there's so many interesting options that one phrase sounds so different with all the different setups!
A lot of these pedal types I've never seen before!
This is so relaxing.... just what I needed before bed. I've never played anything that uses an fx pedal, but listening to this? I can easily see how someone would become obsessed with having an ever-growing collection of fx pedals. I clicked through the viral distortion vid to get here but it's this vid that got me subscribing. I hope you and what you do thrive
I stumbled in looking at/listening to all sorts of different effects pedals. I come from the guitar world, and it blows my mind to see effects used on the harp! Thanks for sharing, and keep up with all the awesome experimentation.
I now am convinced, ESPECIALLY after your latest pedal video, that you could literally replace most 2-person indie projects I fancy with just your harp. Your channel is mesmerizing, I will now put your videos on my cranked up surround system and have a sick evening. Please consider having a new subscriber :)
thank you so much, Nick!! I really appreciate that!!! :)
@@emilyharpist Thank *you* for sharing all this with us :) I have many videos to explore and from what I have heard, you might be working on an LP some time. Take your time, I'm sure it will be great ^-^
There's nothing aesthetically stopping her from joinging Beach House.
Wanted to point out that a P.E.I. Red Bliss potato works better because it's true bypass.
LMAO this made me laugh out loud
Just came here to say I love what you do so much! this is amazing
One of the best pedal demo videos I've ever seen!
Really amazing! THANK YOU for such wonderful demonstration!
Thanks for being here and watching!!
this is my kind of pedal demo. excellent idea
Ahhhhh the things I would do for a pedal collection of that size!! Neat video as always.
It’s a blessing and a curse!! Hahaha thanks so much ❤️
Amazing video, thank yo so much. I like these same phrase videos as they provide an accurate comparison of the effects, but I'd also love to see videos where you do a more varied and musical composition with different pedals in different sections
8 tentacles! Epic!! You rock!!!
I love your videos so much, so much awesomeness!!!!!
Thanks, this was helpful for deciding on my first pedal for my harp.
What an awesome demo of a LOT of awesome pedals!! So much to take in. Thank you!
Thanks so much Steve!!! ❤️
There were some real gems in there that were useful for multiple things and just sounded so nice. Others not so much? Very interesting, Emily. This was more fun than going through a new pedal with factory presets...lol
I never knew i needed a video this much in my life!
😊 thanks so much!!
What an amazing resource! Thank you!
The potato has the best true bypass I’ve ever heard! 😂
Thank you for this! Quickly helps guide us to some great sounds!
Emily, I LOVE this !!!!!! I’ve watched it so many times already. Can you please do more of these side by side 50 pedal videos? Or even 20-30 pedal videos would be good lol. I love the video format! I’m now going to get the Sea Machine and Superball (from your other video) pedals now largely because of you! I’ve long considered getting the Aqueduct too. Keep up the incredible videos. Thank you!
Very interesting and cool sounding! Thanks!
Not sure why you appeared in my feed but I’ve subscribed. Great stuff, thanks.
This really is helping me decide which pedals to invest my time in.
Thanks! Since then I’ve featured a ton more here on the channel, I need to make an updated video on this!
The Bit Commander was really cool, and I liked the hummingbird as well. Tentacle caught me completely off guard and made me laugh out loud when you broke out the 8 Tentacles 😂.
A very thoughtful 🥔 😜
Great showcase ✌😋
Love your music you bring out the best of the harpsichord ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️☮️☮️☮️☮️☮️☮️
Came from Luds chat, but absolutely obsessed with your pedal collection. Love the mid scoop the potato tone gives 👍🏼
Thank you Domenick!!! ludwig7 ludwig7 ludwig7 - always sc00p those mids!!!
Fascinating.
(That Octave Theory, phew!)
ABSOLUTELY GREAT
I could listen to this for hours
I enjoyed every second of this clip! 😂
✌️😎🎶
This was so rad Emily!
Thanks so much, Anne!! ❤❤❤
Sounds awsome!
Best pedal collection ever! 🥰
This is why my 2009 VG99 was a bargain at $1000 new. Cool demo and playing.
I could see you as an enchanting character playing mystical serenade scene in a classic Greek epic like Jason and the Argonauts or Sinbad the sailor. Playing your harp in front of a magnificent fountain that changes colors and creates magical landscapes in the ripples of the water with each stroke of the strings. You have a rare gift and are a master of it, that includes the “Enchanted Potato of Discord”.
Omg the potato 😂😂.
Also cover the light on the EQD pedals. I get it. They’re so bright
Right?!? Halfway through this video I bought LED dampers 😂 You can see one being used at 09:42; they come in a pack and they’re a BLESSING for sensitive eyes!
@@emilyharpist I hear a piece of tape works for a budget option too.
@@emeraldchan7770 yes!! Haha that too.
Most of these boutique effects can be done by the right combination of BOSS pedals using expression pedals, a CryBaby Mini, and maybe a DigiTech FreqOut. I was one of the first people to buy the BOSS SY-1 Synth pedal and I put it to good use
Beautiful!
Y'all have so many good pedals I'm jelly
Thank you, I use pedals subtlety for guitar bass and double bass. I've tried to stay away from the boutique pedal rabbit hole (for financial and sanity reasons) But Walrus Audio seems to make some cool gear that sounds really good.
Thank you for the potato. My ears needed that right about then. Good choice. A papaya just wouldn't have had the same emotional content.
The beebo effect sounds really cool I would like to see more of that

Love that Cooper FX: generation loss!
HERE FROM LUDWIG'S STREAM!!! YOU'RE SUPER TALENTED!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Haha same SHE REALLY IS SUPER TALENTED
Hahah THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR BEING HERE 🥰🥰🥰 I’m still freaking out!!!
these are crazy…..love the astronomer
the distortion video exploded but a lot of these others are pretty awesome, too. I hope you add some affiliate links or get rich or whatever
Hey thank you so much for the kind words! I really appreciate that; thanks for being here!! 🥰❤️
Thanks for this! I recommend the Snazzy FX Mini Ark. It's a lot of fun.
Thanks for listening!! I'll definitely check that one out
I really wish more people would do it like this, the TL:DR of reviews
So this isn't somehow partnered with Earthquaker Devices? Surely it must be, even if it's only your significant other or producer working for them or something. Amazing video, but I'd think some disclosure on that might be required? I'm honestly just curious to know, this was a dope project and great idea.
Hahah HONESTLY?? They have sent me 3 pedals, but when this video was made, it was before I had a relationship with them. This collection is a combination of mine and my partner’s!! We both love EQD pedals (and thankfully none of our pedals overlapped the other persons hahaha) ❤️
@@emilyharpist give strymons a run. they´re basically defacto ambient machines
I like that first pedal, the Afterneath. I might have to get one. I wonder how it handles bass guitar. Unfortunately, I'd never touch most of the others because it sounds like they become the sound rather than enhance the sound of the instrument. Cool video, though. Next time you should try a sweet potato. Their sustain is incredible.
jesus ! i now want 50 pedals i cant afford lol they all sounds so good !
3:40 The Astronomer by Matthews Effects is probably my favorite!
Congrats on the new bike 🚲
hahah thank you so much!! 😂♡
The new Chase Bliss potato is well ambient!
Lmaooo it’s well worth the money!!
Ahhh we use the _exact_ same settings on Avalanche Run that's my favorite sound
It’s my go-to setting on there!!! So so good
So cool:)
So good
You just hipped me to my next six pedals. Lol
😆 glad I could help!!
I rate the potato slightly above the 8 tentacles. Definitely more musical. Honestly though, this was very insightful and it agrees with the pedal choices I've made, and it's cancelled some of my future purchase plans. Really helpful!
I’m so glad I could help!! Sweet potatoes have more treble and baked potatoes scoop the mids 😂 but seriously I hope I can help guide some future purchases as well!
so cool
that potato!! adds such a crazy frequency response!
The ambient sounds you got were fantastic... well the 8 Tentacles were a tad much, but to each their own, right? I have a number of pedals, and the small stone phase pedal is probably the one I use most, but I'm going to have to try some of these that you demonstrated... thanks much for your videos!
You are amazing
All simply amazing, but the potato pedal was by far my favourite....but I'm very interested in the EarthQuaker devices.
I'm assuming you looped the audio ( the video is obs looped) and then ran it thru the pedals one at a time. Pretty smart. I do this on my guitar sometimes when I'm trying different settings on my pedals. Saves a lot of time.
This would be awesome in a video game, where there's a main melody but the world changes in cool disturbing ways. Like you can replay areas under different conditions and the melody changes each time.
The Slö, Fathom and Juliana from Walrus Audio make it sound pretty, so does Zoia.
Zoia is so good!!!
instant soundtrack.
Think I really need to look into getting a pedal from Earthquaker!
You have very unique pedals, you should make a separate video talking about them.
Lol I just noticed Russ covering the widely known blinding EQD lights with his finger. Now that you’ve reached 100K subscribers 😍 can you do this same video on a different phrase with 100 other pedals? Or even like .. 20 pedals…. lol
Yeah man this is valuable
😂 oh man I don’t even wanna know!!!
And the potato made me laugh out loud. :-P
If anyone is curious, the Potato does great tuber amp distortion.
😂❤️
You won me at the 8 Tentacle pedals
Aqueduct is my favorite 🤩
I love Aqueduct!!’ Especially paired with reverb
Was hoping to hear the EQD Data Corrupter, totally insane pedal!
It’s nuts! I used that one in this video - czcams.com/video/J4Nv1rK6S2Y/video.html
@@emilyharpist awesome video! I have a Data Corrupter and I need to spend more time with it trying to tame that beast! I’ve yet to try it with my catalinbread bicycle delay, that is also some wicked fun! I bet it’d sound mega trippy and beautiful on your harp.
Til: I love the sound of all walrus pedals
hey Emily im a guitar player what kind of cables do u use the lil ones with 3 lil squares on them line i think on them thank you love yer playing
