How timely this is for me; can hardly wait for the "more coming" post. I keep going back and forth on a Hydrasynth Deluxe or a used Summit. Voice mod with V2 firmware has me really leaning to the former - just brilliant. At the same time Arturia has added per voice "modeling" features to CS-80, Jup 8, Prophet 5, and even Jun 60 to a lesser extent. If they or Native Instruments have Poly AT on their next controllers I could see going that way as well. As one who invested in Komplete Ultimate years ago and upgrades every other time I really like the light guide. Decisions, decisions...

Novation Peak and the ASM Hydrasynth are both on my list of synthesizers I'd really like to own but can't really justify the expense given my current budget... Plus I already own synths that do most of the functions, but not quite all. Oh well, perhaps one day.

I stronly advice you the Summit. And leave the Hydra. Owned it, sold it. But the Summit stays where it is. Sounds 100x more exciting than the Hydra.

Was always going to be the Hydrasynth. An absolute beast of a synth. I have the little Explorer and it's every bit a big synth in a small package. Will be buying another one to go with it soon. Look forward to the video Tim.

Strange how people experience synths totally different. I won't say the Hydra sounds bad, because bad synths or sounds do not exist. Yes it has a plethora of possibilities which can't be found on other synths. But I don't care for possibilities. I care for sound. And finally I did sell it, like so many other people. Because at the end it sounds digital harsh and thin, and there is no way to change that. And if that is your favorite taste, the Hydra is the best you can buy. I have many, many synths of which some already more than 35 years. But the Hydra didn't even last for more than a month in my studio... In my opinion, a little over hyped 'beast'. At least that was what I discovered after some playing around with it. I traded my Hydra for a Prophet 12. And sorry to say so, but the Hydra rather looks, euh sounds pale in comparison with the P12...
