Steven Seagal was leanest, meanest and most lethal in his first movie. The bar fight is the most brutal Aikido scene ever shot. The opening of the movie with the Aikido dojo scene was beautiful. I remember watching the movie in India at a theatre in the mid-90s and was awestruck. It was the first Seagal movie I watched and became his biggest fan.
I don`t think there`s much Aikido in the bar fight..just the gun scene...
The best time to listen to this,is while taking a walk in your neighborhood late at night or just before dawn
This film was groundbreaking really. Seagal broke Aikido into the mainstream, and his style wasn't seen before this film.
One of my all time fave action movies, but Seagal slid further and further down, until many films became unwatchable. This film had heart, and this had a martial arts actor who could ACT with true feeling! That was unusual, because JCVD was all action but he was difficult to take seriously. If Seagal could have done more like this (which he did to some extent in other earlier films), he could have been so much more. I think this beats "Die Hard on a Boat", even though Siege was more successful probably.

The Aikido scene on the beginning with this song was the best
he inspired millions to get into martial arts and made some bangin action movies
I have to be honest this is one of Seagal's 5 masterpiece films. Along with Out for Justice, Hard to Kill, Under Siege 1 and 2.

seagal and this intro inspired me to start tomiki aikido was is basically a sport version of aikido, it's not very popular but I think it's more agressive than normal aikido, it didn't last for me as I broke a bone in my foot but I'm grateful I got the chance, I still remember some of the techniques taught to me, surprisingly a lot of them were defence against knife attacks, I still remember at least two of them.
I give you a tip, write EVERYTHING you learn on a notebook, im a average kickboxer and this helped me soo much at remembering techniques

I saw this in the theatre 35 years ago.It still hits hard. Great charisma, action , one liners. Nico Toscani.What an introduction for a new actor. He has Mike Ovitz to thank for this.

I always felt like hard to kill would’ve worked as an above the law pt 2 if they had kept him and his family characters the same.
You can even imagine a trilogy with "Out for Justice", with only a few adjustments

This tune really elevated this movie into an epic. Otherwise, it was kind of a confusing overambitious mess with some very hard hitting, bone crunching action scenes, and a very interesting and unique actor in Seagal. 3 action scenes and this soundtrack made the movie a hit.

I was born in 1980 in London , England as my parents originally came from India, I really followed seagal and looked up to this guy. I don’t drink, smoke , dont do drugs , gamble , don’t have tattoos or piercings
I just come back from Japan for like the 7th time, became a cop when I was 23 years old as I love my country all thanks to this man. when I was younger, I loved martial arts plus his style of suits
Then as I grew up I realised what a fraud he was and realised I followed a fake. I got embarrassed but then I thought I am still happy at my job and my love for Japan
I won’t change my lifestyle as I like that but I realised you must make your own path in the end as just because someone shows you how to start it, its better if you finish it by yourself
