    Hey Brother Wilcox! I’ve been listening to your firesides since I was 13, I’ve even been to several of your firesides. You wouldn’t recognize me, I’m bald now. But nonetheless, just want to thank for ‘His Grace is Sufficient’. The understanding has completely changed me. Merry Christmas, friend.

    I love this! Lately I've been thinking about the carol The Little Drummer Boy. I was thinking about the words, how he didn't think he had anything to offer Jesus, but decided to bring what he had. After he played, the Baby Jesus smiled at him. It reminds me of the story in the Book of John when the woman (I believe it was Mary of Bethany) anointed Jesus with spikenard, and Judas Iscariot said that she shouldn't have. The Savior then told him "She hath wrought a good work. She hath done what she could." We lovingly bring what we can, and then is the Lord not only happy with what we have to offer, but as Brother Wilcox points out, He make it, and us, better.

    Great messages. Did you know poinsettias must be kept in the dark to turn red? This can also be symbolic of how we must repent of sin to turn to the light to try to become more like our Savior, Jesus Christ.

    What an amazing lesson and story! We can all become poinsettias! I know Brad Wilcox! I met him at my very 1st Young Single Adult event! He came to our Stake Center to speak to the YSA about grace, repentance, and self-improvement. I even got a photo taken with him! I told him that it was my 1st YSA event, and he told me that I will meet lots of new people, make lots of new friends, and that I will find my Prince Charming!

    I love your story and 5 minute fireside 🔥. Thank you! I know the legend of the poinsettia in Spanish and it’s a little different. Here you have it.
    “La leyenda de Flor De Nochebuena” dice que: El día que nació El Niño Jesús, un Pastorcito estaba cuidaba sus ovejas 🐑 cuando de pronto vio pasar mucha gente con regalos 🎁 que le llevaban al niño Jesús. El pastorcito no tenía nada que regalarle, así que, cortó un ramo de hierbas 🌿 por el camino. Cuando llegó con Jesús, las puso a sus pies y le dijo: Señor, este es mi humilde regalo 🎁 pero te lo doy con amor y todo mi corazón. Cuando Jesús tocó el ramo de hierbas 🌿, automáticamente se convirtieron en un radiante y hermoso ramo de “Flores De Nochebuenas”. Jesús le dijo al pastorcito que: el centro amarillo representaba el brillo de Su luz para guiar nuestra camino, las hojas rojas 🌺 representaban Su sangre, que se derramaría por nosotros en la crucifixión y las hojas verdes 🍃, representan la esperanza de renacer y con Su resurrección, transformar nuestra vida en algo mejor de lo que creemos que somos.

    I am using this clip in the lesson for our 11 year old Valiants this morning.. .. the lesson focus is, "how to grow closer to our Saviour through prayer, study and service" .. I am also incorporating another clip, taken for John Bytheway's video, "Being in tune" to emphasise the importance of prioritising prayer, study and service .. having prepared this lesson using these inputs has touched my heart .. hopefully, 'will have the same effect on our Valiants who will be leaving us to join Young Men and Young women's programmes next week.. 'very grateful to our Sisters and Brethren who share their testimonies though these presentation... D Win Chorley, England

    Are we "changed" by obeying ordinances, or by accepting grace?(Ephesians 2:8-9). Being "partakers of the devine nature" is only accessable through faith in Christ alone. You can never be more righteous by obeying laws and ordinances, than Christ can make you through faith in the work he already did. When he died on the cross he said "it is finished". Merry Christmas.

      @EverettMorse Před 5 lety +4

      I didn't notice Brad Wilcox mentioning ordinances. What is this comment responding to? (BTW, Jesus said baptism, an ordinance, is necessary to enter into heaven. Also, "faith without works is dead" says James. This is an old argument. Everything is by grace, of course, but Christ has asked us to do certain things and those are commandments and ordinances. If you don't do them, you show you neither love Christ ("if ye love me, keep my commandments") nor have faith in him.)

    • @jamestaylor1975
      @jamestaylor1975 Před 5 lety +2

      @@EverettMorse Requiring anything in addition to faith in Jesus Christ for salvation is a works-based salvation. To add anything to the gospel is to say that Jesus' death on the cross was not sufficient to purchase our salvation. To say that baptism is necessary for salvation is to say we must add our own good works and obedience to Christ's death in order to make it sufficient for salvation. Jesus' death alone paid for our sins (Romans 5:8; 2 Corinthians 5:21). Jesus' payment for our sins is appropriated to our “account” by faith alone (John 3:16; Acts 16:31; Ephesians 2:8-9). Therefore, baptism is an important step of obedience after salvation but cannot be a requirement for salvation.

      @@EverettMorse hey Everett! So glad you brought up James 2! James actually adresses chapter 2 directly to believers only in verse 1 and is talking about living faith vs. Dead faith (false believers). So for the person who has already accepted the free gift of God's grace like Romans 3 & 4 talks about works or faith is action can't be separated because God's Spirit in the believer produces fruit. This is in line with what Romans 6 tells us. Romans is a book that I think every member of your church should study. So go read Romans!!! And seek God with your whole heart!!! Matthew 20:28 Jesus came to be a ransom. No work of oursevles can free us from sin, nor can we be justified apart from faith alone. (Romans 5:1) JESUS LOVES YOU!!! Look to the cross for your righteousness

      @@EverettMorse Everett were you referencing John 3? "Born of water" in that passage is actually referring to natural birth. A look at the greek and a second look at the context may help you see that. Have a good day Everett!

      @ce collie Hey Collie! I think we may have a misunderstanding. When I say "obeying laws and ordinances can't make you righteous" I'm talking about how we are made right in God's eyes. That's is simply by faith. Check out Romans 5:1 for that. It doesn't mean that you can continue living in the sin that Jesus saves you from(Romans 6:1). As far as the cross goes, Paul says that the word of the cross is the power of God to those who are being saved. Check that out in 1 Corinthians 1:18. I hope you really do seek to know the truth even if the truth isn't found in the lds church.
