  • Prepare yourselves for probably the LOUDEST ZF you will ever here. If you have found anything louder please comment below. Surfside 472 is seen operating a 710 service to Helensvale Station. This 5 minute clip features all of 472's gears and a few kickdowns. As always please enjoy the video!
brisbaneguy41 filmed this one from the middle, please also check it out!: • Amazing Loud ZF! - CAT...
BTW, Surfside 472 is an integral Bustech XDi powered by a CAT C7 engine and accompanied with the very nice 6 speed ZF ecomat.

Happens all the time on MAN 18.310s, but then those already have quiet engines.

I've never known a 6HP to be that loud. Reminds me of the 4HPs in the older buses.

Excellent vid, that is the loudest ZF I have ever heard in my life :)

I also like the Whistling, when it accelerates as it reminds me of the 2008 San Diego MTS buses (New Flyer C40LF) with ZF ecomat! But this really is the best sounding ZF, I have ever heard. I like the ending as it really sounds like an orchestra.

Fantastic! This is the Loudest ZF ever i gues!

And I thought O405's, Olympians, B10B's, PVL390(a Go-Ahead B7TL), pretty much anything else was "loud". This isn't loud, it's DEAFININGLY AMAZING!

hot damn she's loud! The shifting reminds me of our New Flyer XD40s with Allison LBSS here in NYC! Seriously listen to that! You might find some similarties!

You guys wanna go loud? Let's go back to the old fashion way. Old ZF with four gears. About one of the buses in Portugal made in the 80s.
    1984 MAN SL200F
    Bodyframe - Salvador Caetano UNA41.
    ZF 4HP500.
Now, although the first and the second gear had the same sound, on the third gear there were already multiple sounds. The one that still exists until today (except for the ZF Ecolife where is almost impossible to hear it) and the other tunes that differ from different brands (Volvo, Mercede-Benz, IVECO, etc). In this one, the fourth gear had no Planetary gear like the third one, so it was a strong hit.
With the Volvo B10R it was another tune for the last gear. For the 1983 IVECO Fiat 470 - Salvador Caetano B42D, the ZF had a Planetary gear for the last one (and, for unkown reasons, the sound was quieter than the others). It also had the ability to resume on the planetary gear and re-engage the third one (just like those O305 and some O405 Benz buses), unlike the others that were always reducing to the second gear.
But here are some links to this bus. You can listen to all the music together and the engine like it was another world. Please, (using headphones or some 5.1 surround system) increase the volume, sit and watch it like you were there:
