- After much anguish we finally have it sorted, but not without it's dramas. In this video I unbox and assemble my new 2024 Team Marin 1 XC Hardtail.
I also talk about my issues, and not holding much back I give my honest account, the good and the bad.
I purchased this bike with my own money, and have not received any kickback from Marin Bikes or Bikesonline Australia.

Cheers, and ride safe out there.
How are you Ian? Bit of a lifestyle change here . May be buying at kingaroy. Close to the rail trail and flatter country.
Thank you for showing us brand new Team Marin 1 2024. Nice video.
Thank you. It wasn't without its dramas, but all good now 👍
Looks like a nice bike. I look forward to hearing how you get on. I would definitely consider going tubeless at some point if I were you. I did for the first time on my Surly ECR and I am pleased I did.
It's nice to ride. I look forward to many a kilometre on it.
I suppose I'm so used to running Tannus inserts I shudder at change. But I suppose I should become a big boy one day 🤣
good lookin bicycle Ian , hope it all gets sorted for you !
Thanks mate. It is all sorted Macca...finally 🙂👍
Nice looking bike. A friend of ours kept cracking his Headlands frame at the seat stays so maybe they've gone back to brake bridges across their range..? Sounds like you're enjoying the bike anyway and is just what you wanted for your rides 👍
Yes, the new models have returned to the bridge. It's a great bike to ride. Cheers mate. Hope Julie is well.
Thank you for the video. Do you know the weight of the frame alone?
Sorry to cast some more doubt old mate but my 2021 Green Jamis gravel bike developed a crack in the frame and when I went to get the frame replaced under warranty the new year model was out with a different colour. They just painted the new frame, over it’s original paint my green colour so it matched my fork. Happened lickedy split too. So the paint colour can change pretty easily.
Of course I was just happy to get a new frame at the end of the day.
Sorry mate hadn’t watched your video right to the end when I posted my last comment so all good you’ve what you paid for by the looks. 👍👍
@Jamie.S. all good mate. I was concerned when it turned up. All I wanted was an answer. After all this, I'm glad I didn't get one of the earlier frames that had issues.
The lack of communication on Marin's part is bloody slack. But that isn't just isolated to Marin. I had trouble with Trek as well. I think the bike industry has become like the motor industry. They care only long enough to get your money and drive off the lot...then it's goodbye.
Yep it really is hard to get good help sometimes these days. And it’s not just the bike industry. Went into BCF the other day to buy one of those little stand/ stabiliser thingys for those small gas canisters. They Didn’t know what I was talking about. Had a hell of a time finding it cause they are really small when folded. But yeah it was there they had them, I thought they don’t even know what that are selling. 😔
@@Jamie.S. staff without knowledge is my pet peace. I can understand a newbie working...👍
So, did it brake?
Thanks for the video! I am not native speaker so it's batter to ask twice ;) If I understand You correctly the late 2023 frame is the same as 2024 one?
I would really like to get this bike for me and my GF over the winter but I don't want to get a cracking frame, no one wants.
Looking forward to another episode with this machine.
As far as I am aware, not gospel 👍. The very late 2023 models reverted back to the bridged seat stays, like on the '22. The one I returned could have been corrected. But I didn't think to check serial numbers and specs.
Now it is quite possible, as they are the same, could be left over frames from '22 with the '23 specs mainly brake rotors. The '22 model had a 160 mm rotor at the rear. The '23 model moved up to 180 mm on front and rear.
I was expecting the 2024 model to be released this week sometime.
All you could do is ask the question about it to the sales person. Hopefully, the one you get is better informed about it.
Marin Poland seems to be better at replies than Marin US.
Besides all the drama, it's a bloody good bike. I recommend getting them, but as you said, you don't want ones that may crack.
@OldBumOnABike so the '22 model didn't have cracking problems as well?
@Szczyrczek no. The issue only began when they started the bridgeless design for the '23 model. This is why I believe they have gone back to it.
@OldBumOnABike all right, thank You, although I can't find any evidence off that bridge in the '22 model while looking at photos or videos of this bike, that's a really weird one, guess I have to go to the local bikeshop and see it myslef. Anyway, You are very helpful, have a good one!
@@Szczyrczek you as well. 👍🍺
❤
You should just go ahead and open your own bike shop at the new place 🤓👍
I'd love to. Unfortunately, a population of a couple of hundred won't cut it 🙂
I had thought of doing it a while ago...I was much younger then of course.
This is why I have not ordered a Syncline from their California office of BOL.
It's a little sad. I bought my first Marin, a Nicasio, through them, and it was excellent. They sorted it out this out eventually, which is the good part.
I also could think their hands were somewhat tied by Marin as well. I don't think Marin wanted to or still want to admit they had an issue. I still haven't heard from them.
I got my info for the 24 model from Marin Poland...
Well yea then Marin would be forced to do a recall@@OldBumOnABike
The 2023 team 1 is a silver colour here in UK so maybe your bike is legit
The one they replaced was silver. What I found out from Marin Poland was because of the issues they reverted back to the old frame design late in the '23 model. So even the one that was returned was legit. I didn't know that until yesterday when I got the answer back.
Hopefully some time this week will be the official release of the '24 model.
I love the bike, just pussed at the at the lack of communication and knowledge from the 2 companies.
But it's all over now, rime to ride 🙂🙂
This is 2024 model. Silver is for 2023 and 2022.
