Definitely great lead sustain, was the sound I was looking for when I searched. But it’s just all him playing and no tips on how to get that sustain. That is a bummer but what surprises me most is that nobody out of all these comments is asking that. I don’t get people...
Hey Jack. To get that sustain he's using a sustainer pickup (usually replaces the neck pickup). When switched on it gives infinite sustain which the chap here is demonstrating. Phil Collen of Def Leppard has these fitted to all his guitars. Hope that explains a little.
The pickup is the sustaining usual found in schecter guitars
i think these coil work in reverse, meaning current runs through them that vibrates the string via magnetic field
The Sustainiac has three settings:
1) infinite note sustain
2) turns the note into a harmonic
3) a mixture of the two
He is demonstrating all 3 modes in this video.

Alors quelques petites infos !
Ce Sustainiac n'est pas un micro ! si vous observez bien, le micro manche est divisé en deux bidules : un micro simple normal et me sustainiac. Le sustainiac n'est la que pour créer un champ magnétique avec les cordes mais ne transmet aucun son, comme un ebow quoi. c'est pour ça que quand jenclenche le micro manche on entend un son de single coil. par contre les produits Sustainer sont AUSSI des micros mais ici ce n'est pas le cas :)
C'est génial! J'avais l'intention de refaire le câblage de l'une de mes guitares avec la même configuration! Y aurait-il un moyen de mettre la main sur le schéma du câblage que tu utilises? Ce serait royal :)

Du coup cela m'a mené à me renseigner sur la pose d'un Sustainer sur ma Jackson...
Bref, du point de vue purement artistique ce solo est excellent, et de plus la mélodie reste en tête... Ce qui est assez pratique en cours je dois l'avouer... (Pas du tout en fait --')
Techniquement parlant, la maitrise du Floyd parfaite (comme à ton habitude ^^) et de plus cela m'a fait découvrir cet outil magique qu'est le Sustainer... Je sens que mes prochaines modifs vont se porter là dessus! Merci de ce partage!

Can you buy just the switches just to install them ? And where can I buy those ?
How do you keep your "floating" tremolo in tune. Had a Charvel/Jackson from the 80's with a licensed Floyd Rose and locking nut, but couldn't keep the damn thing in tune for anything. Thanks in advance.

You ever let me get my hands on a Ibanez or a guitar like this and a nice sound system can't wait. But I gotta question. I played a Gibson lespal studio once. Ps. My budys guitar. Lucky basterd. And he told me he had a bone nut. The sustain on that guitar was long as hell. Just wanna know what I need to buy. Is it tusq? Or what type of bone do I need. I'm willing to make it.
