we were VERY poor, no use us patting ourselves on the back for making the finals, we can do that after the tournament is finished. If we get through the group (still very possible) we will forget this match, but right now we are kinda embarrassed.

Yep, the first touch of some of the players was terrible. You might get away with it in the Scottish league but at this level it'll cost you every time.
Last night had nothing to do with technical ability. Out of possession Scotland were diabolical. That's tactics, set up and guts. It's not like they were misplacing key passes or losing possession because of a bad touch. They barely had the ball.
Most of them play in the Premier League, which according to fanboys should be a sign of quality.
As and English man, i would tell all Scots no to be embarrassed by that result, you played one of the top teams in Euro 24 and having to play the first game, it is not the end, you can turn this around, good luck in the next two games.

Andy don't worry about Scotland losing last night, you can turn things around, i watched England play Iceland, and we lost 1-0 at home to the team that is 73rd in the world ratings , then Holland played Iceland a few days later and beat Iceland 4-0, should tell you how good England are, as an English man, i don't hold out much hope of England winning the Euros. When Southgate left out Jack Grealish i was shocked, but he took 4 players who have never played for England, well Southgate has made a very bad decision, that will come back to haunt him.
The result is not embarrassing but the performance and the tactics were very much embarrassing. If we lose 2 goals in the 1st 20 minutes we have to change from a 5-4-1 otherwise why are we in the tournament? This possibility obviously never crossed Clarke's mind. Clarke has no plan B he made the players look awful.

Over in Germany. Just watched the game in a bar in Memmingen surrounded by Germans. I felt totally embarresed. Scotland MUST beat Switzerland if they want to progress. Hungary aren’t any great shakes, the worst Irish side in several decades beat them a couple of weeks back. Scotland can’t lose against the Swiss, though.

I think you have to look at Steve Clarke, hos setup was diabolical. To not have any pressure Toni Kroos for the first 35 minutes is a recipe for disaster. There was no control in midfield, no one to partner with Callum Macgregor. And also Scott Mctominay on free kicks with John McGinn on the goal line. Give me a break Steve.

You could be forgiven for thinking Mcginn, Mctomminay and Christie weren't playing. They didn't pick anyone up, they were just hovering around aimlessly.

As a Spaniard I don’t know how it’s possible that Scotland dropped their level so much. In qualifying they were better than us and we even needed some luck with referee decisions to win the qualifying group. Is it that Scotland decreased their level or is it that we are just as terrible as Scotland. We will see it in the rest of the tournament.
Injuries haven't helped. We have no striker now so cannot get up the pitch when we win the ball.
Clarke's tactics were very bad too. Low block with no pressure on ball, and no possession players, Germany just recycled attack over and over.

It was the manner of their defeat that was awful. Nobody is expecting a win from Scotland but at least strive to get in a position to get a shock result. For example, time and again in the Premiership constant pressing the dominant team can get results. Tactically Scotland weren’t at the races and just seemed to stand off Germany, resorting to panicked reckless tackles that made the disparity between the teams even worse. And for that you look at the manager.
100%. Passive and then desperate at the last moment. Standing off in a low block with no pressure. Then no ability to retain possession when we win it back. That was not a football match.
Scotland's 1 win in 9 in the run up is a major impact. Winning is a habit. Just like losing now in 1 in 10.

The only reason Scotland are at the euros, is because of uefas decision to increase the size of the tournament to 24 teams! The last time Scotland played Germany at the euros was Euro 92, only 8 teams contested the finals, so simply by qualifying for that tournament you in effect reached the quarter finals. There is no place for 24 teams in this competition no matter how much UEFA want to delude themselves. Scotland have won just 1 of their last 7 Euro games, going back to 1996. Slovakia, Slovenia are other teams that will drag down the overall quality of games, Hungary not looking great either.
Clarke's tactics were way off players with no bottle wrong starting eleven
