Fleur reminds me a lot of Rhys from last year. Great talent but a bit manic. I'm hoping that Vito will be able to channel that energy better than Nancy did.

Itâs interesting though, I was lucky enough to see the tour last year and I thought Rhys was much more suited to the arenas. He didnât seem over the top at all in a bigger setting and he shone much more than on tv. Plenty of time for Fleur to try different styles and learn to hone her craft

This had a lot of promise and Fleur was GREAT. Bearing in mind this is week 1 I think she was really strong, however it felt like she was following a sequence of moves rather than having that natural flow and I'm not sure about the choreography in some places. I think she can go all the way so I can't wait to see how she controls all that awesome energy and how it manifests in her dances going forward!
The choreography was the problem.
Energy, energy, energy! So much potential here, she's a natural performer for sure! Kudos to strictly for casting brilliant new pros like Vito (he and Carlos were incredible tonight!) and the house band for this rendition!

Fleur has energy for years, so much hip action and her Cha Cha walks and new yorker were exceptional. Her plank step and back bends are so sharp and powerful, side by side stuff is of the level of Beyonce, so much sass and attitude. Great turns and arm movement. Vito is going to work hard with her I think, I hope she won't fall under Rhys's issues last year with being too manic because I think she could easily be another Alesha Dixon, Alexandra Burke, AJ Odudu type contestant but she will need to work on containing it because I was expecting a showstopper and I only saw a really good dance. Maybe my expectations were too high but she still smashed it đ
@j4Rose Really? For me Alesha was one of the first contestants to bring consistent high standard In Ballroom and Latin every week. I loved her Cha Cha and the Jive was only her 2nd dance so ofc the technique wasn't perfect but I think you're sleeping on Alesha quite abit
This was one of the weakest latin numbers of the night. She walks forward constantly on heels which is the number ONE thing never to do in 4 of the 5 latin dances. Did she have bags of energy yes, but she is constantly out of control. There were losses of balance, not that many actual cha cha steps and she never had her body weight over her feet. It was manic, sloppy, unfocused and with a dirth of actual latin content.

I give Fleur and Vito an 8. Well, Fleur, you brought the sass and the fireeeee! Character, personality, BUT we just need to work on the leg lines and bringing it all a little more together. But I'm so proud of you!

this is astounding for the first week, my only slight criticism is she is quite rigid and robotic in parts, but she is without a doubt an incredible mover and I'm surprised her heels weren't on fire !!!

That was great! Vito and Fleur did so well! She was just a bit too powerful. Gotta focus that enthusiasm. I will be watching her improvement with hope. I want another AJ Odudu here.

Fleur is my 2nd favourite this year and she has surprised me with how good she was in this dance. As Motse said, with toning it down a bit and ironing out the rough edges, she'll be great.

I noticed this firecracker during the group dance. If she understands that she doesn't know everything yet, that she needs to learn technique and control, she would be great. This was good but too aggressive.
Best dance of the night. Fleur's style fit the music. I think she will be able to tone it down when she needs to.

Clearly a tremendous dancer, just needed a bit more control and some light and shade in there, although that comes down to the choreography. Some tempo changes would have been nice. I think she maybe went almost a little too hard, which isnât necessarily a bad thing. Itâs MUCH easier to start at 150% and reign it back to 100% than it is to start at 0% and build it up to 100%. Might have been a touch of nerves with it being the first week.
Fleur will do brilliantly and canât wait to see what she dances next week!
Vito comes over kinda dorky off the dancefloor but omg the intense passion when he dances, phew....deffo a pair to watch .
Shes actually a dancer in real life and singer its not fair on other contestants
omg stfu. Theres a difference between doing some dance when youre younger and on stage when singing, to proper technical latin and ballroom. Ive been in dance for 12 years now, and i couldnt do any of this because the fundamentals like feet placement and centre of balance are different. If she was a professional dancer she wouldnt have been offered a spot on the show.
I remember her dancing on x factor. She's a force for sure but quite an aggressive dancer. Will be interesting to see how she copes with the gentler dances

Well, FLEUR!!! That is a way to come out on week one. She reminds me of Rhys from last year. Very hard-hitting in the execution where the movement felt and looked forceful instead of natural. In addition, would have love some stronger moments in her core instead of being hunch over near the ground. With that being said, Vito had some great content, just need to put more technique in there but other than that, I enjoyed the rountine!!

I was actually a bit disappointed. She attacked it far too much, and she needed to straighten her legs more. She attacked it so much that it almost came across as quite spiky and staccato. She definitely has bags of potential but she just needs to refine the routine a lot more and then go for it

She needs to rein it all in and she'll be fine. Too much of everything all at once, resulted in her looking combative and I don't think she was helped by the choreography. But I'll put this down to some nerves and a bit of self applied pressure to deliver a banging performance to close the show. She has lots of potential and I've got her in my final four prediction. Just dial it down a touch!

Fleur can dance, that's clear, but she needs to turn the dial down from 170 and control her movement much more. This was stompy and frantic for most of the routine. The technique was there but hidden by the lack of control. 6

Dancing is Natural, you can either dance or you can't. Fleur is a good dancer but she puts alot of energy into the dancing and you need to flow naturally.
And last but certainly not least Fleur East And Vito Coppola.
This one was another dance I had high hopes for mainly because I thought Fleur would walk it so it came as a shock when she didn't but this was not Fleur's fault.
The Choreography was bad, I know Vito is new but I expected better from him, it was like Feur was doing different positions going from one end of the dance floor to the other without the flow in-between wile Vito gilded her thought it, but this is more on Vito's shoulders not Fleur's.
What I did think about Fleur was that she's has got amazing energy and presences on the dance floor and I'm sure can go far.

Fantastic energy, superb sense of rhythm, magnificent determination, but needed more refinement. It was very unbalanced - some moments were absolutely fabulous, but some moments were very weak und even unsteady. I want Fleur to work on her weight balance and weight transfer from foot to foot as well as, on her arms. It was completely lacking hip action simply because she didn't strengthen her legs enough. If she works on being more grounded, meaning better physical connection to the floor, if she works on transferring weight and using her hips as well as the fluidity on her arms - she will be absolutely stunning. It was a very promising performance, but a tad too manic and unbalanced. My score: a 6.
She's a bit stiff and heavy on her feet. She can groove though.

Good dancing but all seemed very stampy and heavy footed to me. You could clearly see the phrases it was taught in as well. Lots of promise though

I agree with the judges about the too much attack and being over-energetic. But I have no fear for her as she will calm that down as the weeks go on. I didn't want to just give a 7 as I felt her timing and accuracy as well as obvious musiciality and rhythm were absolutely second-to-none tonight. Having said that, there were a few slight wobbles and balance issues and she seemed to rely on her hip action more than on her driving leg actions. Still had almost all the technique you'd hope for, going forward.

She reminds me of a cross between Rhys from last year, and Alexandra Burke (one of the best female contestants ever in my opinion). Fleur has the attack and the musicality of Alexandra, and the intense energy and unrestricted power of Rhys. I have a prediction that her drive, strong personality and the high level of artistry in her performances will make the viewing public turn on her. And let's not pretend that when it comes down to people of color on this show, that the stronger the chances of their winning based on talent alone is apparent that the public starts coming up with reasons why they don't like them, and start getting way undermarked.
