Rob, there has been a Jazz Festival in Belgrade since 1971, that is, for 50 years and it has been held every year from then. Within European music festivals, Belgrade Jazz Festival has a high reputation. Existence of jazz festival for more than 50 years, shows that jazz music has always been very popular and highly developed in Yugoslavia. Jazz music ofc includes funky, r'n'b & soul rhythms, and in our country it means also ethno, it's unique mix of above mentioned rhythms. in 60s & 50s jazz was also highly popular. It's hard to select 5, 6 songs for you because it's myriad of beautiful songs

As for jazz funk soul ethno music, the best band is VASIL HADZIMANOV BAND with huge musical opus, can't name 1 or 2 songs, because they have 100 excellent songs... eg song Ratnici podzemlja, but I'll make playlist 4 u 😎

Originally this song is from Haustor (Croatia), but this cover is maybe better than original.
Rob, my recomendation for FTH is "Bjesovi - Kisa" or "Bjesovi - Cak i da mogu", serbian grunge/doom band...
