With 29 wins and no losses, Khabib retired with an undefeated record. Shortly after retirement, he earned the #1 spot on the UFC men's pound-for-pound rankings. As of 26 October 2020, Fight Matrix ranks him as the #1 lightweight of all time.

The saddest thing is that in may 2020, Nurmagomedov's father and long-time trainer Abdulmanap, was placed in a medically induced coma after contracting COVID-19 following a heart surgery. He died on 3 July 2020 at a clinic in Moscow, at the age of 57.
