So in the first one 4x1=4 and 3x1=3, 4+3=7. I assume he chose 1 for each fraction because the mental math is easy.
Only problem is fractions must be in simplest form and have 1 as a numerator which isn’t always the case. Finding the LCM is usually a struggle
The LCM and LCD is not hard to find since the LCM is gonna be the LCD
