I am struck how perfect Phillip is as a partner for a chatelaine. He shops, he cleans, he pays attention to art details, he actually cares about decorating, he is very sensitive to people and he is a truly caring , thoughtful and caring person.!
A match made😊 in heaven for Stephanie for sure.
@@janeharris6925 and he loved Lancelot to bits (as did everyone ++) ❤️
Yep I agree about Phillip for all he does and is you couldn’t imagine any of them with anyone else they are just so goooooood together ❤️🥰😻
Philip is the best. Glad for both!🎉
It must be so nice and comforting knowing that all the 3 owners have stunning places to live forever until they are old.... and they will have company for the rest of their lives.
Such a beautiful place to go for walks and oneday a swim in the pool. What a wonderful life.
So true..Beautiful plan! People used to live like this during WW2..even raised children together..great ties to family.
Stephanie was raised with her parents, her aunt and uncle, Amaury, his younger brother and Gerry in one house, so she loves a house full. ❤
@@carolinegooder7091 That's what I find sad about living/being an American. Our society, as I've seen it in my state/community.....they don't seem to have ever embraced 'multi-generational' living. There are 'ethnic' communities who've always lived with their grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins etc. But outside of those communities, the majority all go their separate ways and most of the grandparents either end up living alone or in nursing homes. I was born here in NYS, and I've ALWAYS found that to be "backwards"!!!!! As a matter of fact, over the past three yrs watching this channel and many others like it, I find the Europeans to be so much more readily inclusive and accommodating to their elders AND their pets than we are....and the LGBTQ community too! Sighhhhhh....I am too old to move to Europe...so I live it vicariously thru You Tube.
I bet Marie is going to be over the moon when she gets home to a clean cottage!
I just simply love Percy 💙
He is literally the cutest sweetest man!!! He’s a treasure💕❤️🥰
Your Mum is lovely and she is a star.
She is really such a good mom it seems. Being nurse andcaring for family as she does. Trying to do all she can to kee the Chateau moving along well. She is the mummy many would only dream to have! Percy is sweet and a great step dad as well . They are good sports and of course they will get mroe tired mroe easily, but Stapenah is aware of it and they know if they feel it is too much, they can say it , and she would understand. But they always try to do all they can. It is being part of it all.
I love how the peacock lamps match with the Indian paintings, and they then transition to the bird paintings from Indonesia
Stephanie, when you put on rubber gloves, flip the top of the gloves about 2 inches so the water won’t run down your sleeve. Trust me it works. Have a good day.
that is a great tip...that i may use myself 😊x
.
truly appreciate how Mummy is always careful of her diet...which shows in her appearance.
I think it’s time for Stephanie to have a video on who the owners are of the Château and if they live full-time or part-time on the grounds I think a lot of new people are confused.
Stephanie, Michael Potts, I know those 2 are owners. Irk if anyone else is a owner. Stephanie used her inheritance from her father to pay her part.
I agree, and who all the ppl who work there and visit? I’ve been watching over two years and still confused…
@@doveleboeuf6625 Nick and Stephanie bought it; Michael just bought in a few years back.
@T.Account.356 Have you watched all the old videos yet? If you go to video categories on her channel and go to "Sundays at the Chateau" there are several Question and Answer vlogs, and also interview vlogs with various Chateau members, that mostly clear it all up.
Stephanie and Nic went to University together and sold two separate houses in London to buy Lalande. Michael Potts, an old boyfriend of Stephanie and a friend, bought into Lalande a few years ago. Michael Potts changed to photography full time and follows the formula one car racing events around the world. During last winter he lived back in SA with his brother and elderly mother. ❤ Nick, his wife Marie and his stepson Antoine only come to Lalande for vacations currently. ❤ Michael Potts has the Tack room rented out now, but it is considered his.
Oh my goodness! The peacock lamps I sent! So odd to see them, because i had forgotten all about them, then out of the blue thought of them last week and wondered if theyd gone to the broconte lol, which i had said was an option if they couldn't find a use for them.
Peacock themed lamps. 🎉 They belonged at Lalande. Thank you for sharing them and their story. 🦚 🦚 🦚 🦚
Cleaning and organizing is so comforting when you're grieving.
I was thinking the same.
@@wendywatkins8092 I’m the freeze type when anything dramatically good, bad or sudden happens & the rug sweeps you off your feet. And I can’t cope being with anyone else without fur or feathers at such times. Huge admiration for the gutsy way everyone is coping with the great big loss of that dear tiny little Lancelot ❤️❤️❤️. I adored the way he looked at Stephanie in the car only just recently but won’t be able to cope with videos of him for quite a while yet, can’t even hear about our late Queen’s demise & death without crying buckets 🪣
You and Philip amaze me. I know you are still grieving but instead of hiding your head under the covers you both tackle things head on to make you feel better. An inspiration all of you.
I guess sit is wonderfu how they keep busy as it helps sne not think so much about it , am sure. It may come out in dreams ir in moments when not expected though, but they are trying to work through it all. Just takes so much time,
@@carolweaver3269 - I know the pain is still there and it will come and go. Wish we could take all that away.
It will catch them when they are having a quiet moment, keeping busy is good, but I think they are coping well! I hope so...I get upset just thinking about little Lancelot 😢
So thoughtful and kind to do such deep cleaning. I'm sure Marie will appreciate coming home to a spotless environment.
Sometimes there is nothing more fun than watching a professional cleaning/design team at work!
I really like that yellow dress and it’s like an old friend because I’ve seen it before
Great Job! Nick is a great husband!, Marie is lucky to be treated like a guest in her own Chateau by all of you! I can feel the love. She will be please to come back and just enjoy the clean and nice place! :)
Nick and Marie are part owners
Is nic Marie,s husband. She is a fabulous chef, would love some of her recipes
@@valeriejoubert2349no not that Marie. Antoins’ Mother, Marie.
@valeriejoubert2349 not Marie the Cook and florist. Different Marie
@@annegiorgio5602I thought Nick was a part owner
I like the generous cleanups that you Chateau people do. It reminds me of Billy Petherick and all, helping to clean up Simon's garden before he move back. What goes around, comes back around in blessings.
Would love to see a mirror over the fireplace instead of books… Philip can find one❤️👍
With Mommy and Percy on your team, nothing can go wrong!!! Perfection!☺😘
I have a niggling feeling that all this unusual hustle and bustle surrounding getting Nick and Marie's place super-refreshed, which I can't recall having been on such an intense level at their place before, has to do with the very unfortunate accident that befell the lovely heat man last year, and I suspect this is the best way everyone has to try and make a fresh start of good memories for Nick and Marie, and not a constant reminder of the tragedy. If my hunch is correct, I want to say "thank you" to all the crew at Lalande for coming forward and putting so much effort into making sure Marie doesn't bring Antoine into such an awful scene of bad memories in his home. When I was little my Grandparents and community stepped forward and redid my bedroom after my sibling passed away, and transformed it into a completely new space, and it did my parents a world of good.
Anyway, if I'm right, I truly appreciate it for Nick and Marie. And if I'm overthinking it, I still appreciate it for Nick and Marie lol!
What happened?
@@jacquijohnson740 an outside contractor died in an accident on the roof. Steph has not filmed any more of the heating project as a result.
Oh, no, i had no idea, how very sad. Thank you for letting me know.
I had assumed it was because there's really nothing else to film and she needed some content. But yeah, otherwise, the many other times that they've come to stay they haven't done a deep clean to the apartment. So I was wondering as well
Hi Stephanie. Don't forget to save furniture and art work for Dan. He's going to need it!
That is very thoughtfull ! Dan wil need lots of furniture, I guess.
What a great thought!
I think Dan has a certain style. I can’t wait to see what he does at his chateau!
Stephanie could send photos to Dan , but it's a good idea to give something's to Dan if he wants them.
Truly such a great idea!! You are right it would be so perfect for him and must not forget this! He wuld apreciate this alot am sure!
Wanted to say many decades ago My Sweet Mother in Law would help Me to wash my walls and Paneling in our Craftsman. Used a Rose oil soap. Afterwards it just shined so lovely. We have lots of wallpapers today and tile in our Rural Country Home today easy to clean and keep. But oh my I remember the pleasure of such a job well done!!!
Love it when cleaning and decorating is going on at the chateau and it’s mainly done by the Lalanders’ and I love watching Phillip with his attention to detail and then you have Stephanie leading the project by example and Mummy and Percy pitching in
Lalande is the place to be with everyone that work there ❤❤❤❤❤
The pops of red are wonderful, the chair, the leather chair, the rug and the art work. All pulled together. Great job.
Looks great. I am happy to have seen handsome Nick in a previous photo of him. Thank you.
it never fails.. i ALWAYS TEAR UP DUE TO HAPPINESS WATCHING ALL OF YOU DELIGHTFUL PEOPLE. I think i need a yellow dress.
If you are wanting to keep the brick on the fireplace then they may need an acid wash but a consult with a mason might be best, especially if they are original. I bet Amoury could work it out anyway ❤
The care with which you take care of the chateau is absolutely marvelous and inspiring.
Love seeing you in the yellow dress. The cottage was transformed, so much nicer.
I know you mean business, Stephanie, when you wear your yellow dress.🤗🇨🇦
I enjoyed seeing the Webb Corbett crystal, as I used to live near by. It was made mostly at Tutbury in Staffordshire (Also at Stourbridge) It was bought out by Royal Doulton in 1981. They eventually sold it & two independent factories emerged Tutbury Crystal & Georgian Crystal. The Tutbury factory later closed & relocated outside of the village.
Honestly Stephanie, I could watch you and Co go about your activities all day......to anyone that thinks you are a Princess sitting in your ivory tower doing nothing all day....and I know some awful people do.....I have never seen such a hard working woman in all aspects. If your channel has been watched from day one, they would know!! Just a fab watch and a hard life!!! Sandi x
I know I say this, practically every other video: Philip has such an excellent eye. Well, actually two of them, but you know what I mean.
So happy that the silly telephone bench is going. And happy that gifts to the Chateau are giving Nick's apartment an ambience akin to the other spaces. Every owner needs to feel the chatelain aura.
May I object? That telephone bench is wonderful. It will soon be someone else's treasure!
the room looks so beautiful !🌸 looks like a National Art Gallery. blessings to you in every big project that you accomplish.❤
Ah, that sandy-finished plaster! I grew up in a house that had that on all the walls. And there's nothing like shopping for décor in your own attic! What a great transformation!
These clean-up/ rearranging furniture videos are my favs!!! 💛💛💛
Wonderful job by everyone who helped Nick get his apartment all beautiful for Marie especially Stephanie, Philip and Nick.😊❤
Now you need to get our Marie her own apartment so she feels like she’s a part of the Château and belongs.
@@mommashawna707 i thought chef Marie had living quarters at the chateau?
@@privatesuzie4071 yes, she has her own room, but not an apartment
Even Michael Potts only has a small suite. Stephanie is redoing a small bedroom that Marie loves. Currently I think Marie has the large house keeper's room la Chapelle.
@@malina1239 Exactly
@@carolinegooder7091 I was thinking more of the apartment that they were making for Natty that is no longer going to live in it. If she’s going to be there for a long time as we all hope I would assume her having her own little kitchen and such would make her feel more at home. And give her more time to decompress away from the château per se.
Michael Petherick has a fabulous product that he was using on the tile in the chateau kitchen that might just work on the brick in the fireplace.
I hope we get to see Antoine too.
Hard workers every one of you. Marie will be so happy to come home to such a clean and uncluttered space.
I cant wait to see Marie and Antoinnes reaction! Beautiful job!
I've been subscribed since pre covid times. Don't comment much. Seen how you both are so wonderful together. I absolutely love the passion Phillip has for doing all the decorative things to make the home lovely & seems he has found you, Stephanie & this home a place where he truly belongs. Love your vids xxx

Love watching these videos, they have been my lifeline over the past few months as I recently had a,knee replacement. I was, heart broken for you when you lost the beautiful Lancelot. I totally admire your bravery and all the wonderful achievements at the chateau led by Stephanie along with your wonderful family and friends. It is my dream to visit you when I'm fully recovered. Keep up the fantastic work. Veronica x
I really enjoy watching cleaning and organizing rooms and closets. So satisfying.
That takes me back. I remember Lysistraya in French. ✨🇦🇺
Can't wait to see the corridor when it's done. Nick & Maries place looks so different now. I likey!
Antoine wants the pool built. Hopefully, in the next two years, that can happen.
That room looks lovely now! I love how all of the artwork is arranged. The paintings go together so nicely! Beautiful!❣️🩷👏🏻👏🏻⚜️
You can clean the glass of the stove using window cleaner (called Windex in Canada) and a kitchen scrubby. Then use paper towel or newspaper to wipe the damp soot off.
It takes a village…to live in a chateau!!😅
Have just blitzed my lounge, about to put cleaned sofa covers back on so watched other people cleaning while waiting. Only thing left to do is vacuum the dog. He's waited so patiently.
Morning Stephanie sending love to all Ann 🇬🇧🇬🇧❤️❤️❤️
Good Evening Everyone. ❤❤
Hot tip for refreshing the inner part of open fireplaces - I used "blackboard paint" - it mimics "soot" really well and is great to tidy up the inner spaces that have inconsistent soot marks, and helps that space 'recede" as it were. All looking so fabulous as ever - keep being you and doing you! Love from Australia xxx
Looks great! I’m sure Marie will appreciate all of your hard work🤠❤️
Turned so lovely and colorful !!! Wonderful transformation
It always feels better to do a good tidy and clean. Great job, all.❤
Oooh, just speaking from personal experience of my own damp house, I'd be worried about using non-breathable bituminous paint on that wall. It's just going to push the damp up higher above the top line of the paint. Lime plaster and breathable paint every time for me. Might be worth consulting the chapel restorers for their view on it? As you know, old buildings need to breathe. (Offered as friendly advice, not negative criticism.)
They previously sorted out the drainage so that the corridor could dry out. It used to flood, with all the water seeping through the wall.
@@XantheWilliams The trouble is the wall can't dry out if it can't breathe - the water has to be able to evaporate. Otherwise you're just pushing the damp somewhere else, - in this case, my guess is upwards!
@@vfl5211 they solved the problem over a year ago. The wall is now dry, so they can start to decorate; they couldn’t before. Steph has followed the builders advice on this.
@@XantheWilliams If the wall is dry, they don't need bituminous paint! If you live in an old building, you have to let it breathe.
The crystal is very similar to the crystal that my parents received for their wedding, also in the 60's!
The cottage looks amazing! I love the world collection theme. Such a big job well done.. cheers! I love Percy's sense of humour!
The cottage looks great. Amazing what a bit of elbow grease will do! 😊
I admire that everyone chips in when it comes to "family"! Great job everyone, Maria will be so pleased 🥰
I would love to see a new tour since all the changes over the years. Perhaps after the grande salon renovations.
What a nice result of your transformation!❤️
Such a lovely video, thank you. You all made that room look excellent ❤ well done 👏🏻
Haha mummy's face as if to say Stephanie you make to much work!!
The amount of cleaning you’ve done at Nick’s apartment makes it seem like they haven’t been in there for 10 yrs 😂
Last year. LOL Over the winter They were in the Marquis's suite because of the wood burner. Too many older pieces of furniture moved in there as the staff rooms are renovated.
To clean the glass on the fireplace take newspaper, wet it a bit, dip in the ashes and scrub the glass. It will come sparkling clean. Good job done by all. Hope this helps,
The Gardener’s Cottage looks great, good job!
So paneling we not only decorative but functional!
Such good friends to help each other out. I just love watching your friendships and how you treat each other. I’m learning so much.
What a transformation- sure Marie will love it!
Could we see how clean and what the kitchen, bathrooms and bedrooms look like?
Just a water-conserving tip...from living in an area where water is not plentiful. Turn the tap off whilst washing the glasses and then turn it back on to rinse the clean glasses at the same time. Every little bit helps.
Thank you for providing a daily dose of joy!! You are so happy and fun to watch. Plus, you and Philip make a darling couple. Very well matched.
I imagine the chateau has it's own dug well.
They also have a Cistern. ❤
I love watching the remodel. And I also like to see what beautiful food you make in France at the chateau and the restaurants.
Being busy cleaning and clearing can be very good to clear the mind too. Well done!

remove soot from the glass door:
for example, you dip newspaper in the ash, you put water on it and rub the glass, follow with dry newspaper or a dry cloth.
That's what I do, works a treat.
You did a wonderful job bringing the room back to life! Your Mums face was a picture when you were telling her what needed to be done to the floor😂❤
WOW! You guys did a fantastic job!! I'm sure Marie will be super happy when she gets to see it. And everything is clean so she can just settle in and enjoy it. Well done!! I would have been super tempted to reupholster and paint that adorable telephone chair to match one of the larger bathrooms to provide a lovely place to sit before and after a bath, and use the little table to display a vase of fresh flowers, a bowl of bath bombs and a place for a cup of tea or a glass of champagne. I'm sure you made the right decision to donate it. Hopefully someone else will enjoy it. 😘💖✨
I spotted some Terry Pratchett amongst the books... it's always so nice to see something you can relate to in someone else's space. Makes one feel more connected.
Marker of good taste!
Good job. Did you also clean and decorate the bedrooms and bath. I love watching your everyday life. Thanks for including us.
What became of the bread oven room Marie worked so hard on to clean the walls
The cottage looks wonderful, I can't wait to see what Maria thinks
You know a tour of the gardeners cottage would be lovely :-)
If you like jazz music there is a girl from America who will be singing jazz in Nice France on August 21. I don’t know how close the town is to you but she is amazing to listen to. I’ve been following her on CZcams for a long time
Transformation! On a budget!!!
Although my heart was in my mouth for a minute when Philipp said, I have a steady hand while balancing a full tray of crystal.
When you were saying what all needed to be done to the floor your poor mother looked like you had just told her you were going to build Rome in a day haha. Everything turned out really well!
Hola Stephany, hasta limpiando no dejas de ser una gran señora. Tenéis un gusto exquisito, lo qué tocáis se transforma en algo único y elegante. Un abrazo desde Madrid ❤❤❤❤
Great teamwork 😁👍🏻
So nice of you to do all of this for Marie. What was the motivation? Her birthday? Just to be sweet friends?
Anyways, you guys all did a great job 👍🏻
It's been closed up and is musty last year I remember Stephanie and Phillip giving it a go over before they came but nothing this Wonderful.
Nic is a co-owner and wants to redo the style of the cottage soon. For now lots of old furniture had been stored there while friends and Michael Potts used it. Michael Potts has the Tack room but it gets rented out.❤ It was time for a really good clean out and fix up. Now Nic and his family can see everything and pick a new style when they are ready.
Such an awesome team! The room looks great. 🦋
Stephanie, to clean the log burner glass, use damp ash and wipe it over the glass…..have a go!
The moisture in this brick walls originates probably from the outer walls or the ground. It would be better to put the tear on the outer side of the walls to isolate them from the outer side. By painting it on the inner side the damp just gets trapped inside the bricks and cannot evaporate anymore.
The damp was sorted out ages ago by digging better drainage. The walls are dry now.
That is the best thing about difficult times - it gets better! 😊
Great job everyone. Looks gorgeous. I would love to stay there.....lol 🤩
Wonderful transformation, bravo!
Hi You need Vitcas fireplace cleaning spray to clean soot from brick around the fireplace x
