So we did a last minute same day stay tonight, mostly because we wanted to go to Jaleo and have plenty of Sangria without worrying about the almost 3 hour drive home. Randomly booked a room at Saratoga. When we were debating resorts, I remembered seeing a notification that Tom had posted a room
tour recently.
Watched it and decided to give it a try. Got a renovated room in Congress Park and it is lovely, they did a really good job in my opinion, exceeded expectations. Note: we did specify that we wanted a renovated room and actually checked-in in person to ask again.
Bizarrely think I saw Tom while waiting for our table at Jaleo, hard to tell with the mask but tall guy in plaid short sleeve button up with the same haircut. Wanted to thank him for the review as our room is lovely,
but also really didn’t want to approach some totally random person who would then think
I was a nut job when I thanked him for his hotel review. 🤷🏻♀️
Glad to see the Hagrid’s Magical Bed Adventure project didn’t get scrapped due to covid!

This is my home resort and its about time it was remodeled! It’s funny how you sound disappointed to be upgraded.😂
Being that i am from NY (long island) myself, i understand much, never been to Saratogo Springs, heard about it from my Sister when her Husband went to work at a University there. Never been to much of New York State except when Mom and Dad drove me with them to Lake Placid and Oswego NY. I grew up and 'existed' on Long Island until i could look for work in New York City.

We just stayed in a renovated one bedroom for week check out the day before you checked in. It was a real nice renovation they did, my daughter loved the pull down single bed under the tv. By the way we saw you at Hollywood Studios earlier that week.

Hidden mickeys in the Johnny Fedora and Alice Blue Bonnet artwork and in the wall mirror display. Time to get a tour of Tom's place. :) BTW, the shower bathroom sink could be used for just handwashing while the other sink with the tub could be the getting-ready bathroom to all of the guests in that bedroom.

My wife and I just did SSR for the first 5 days of a 11 day vacation and I loved the resort BUT I did not even like the room...
I might be willing to try it again based on the new look...
Very nice. I see they didn't take my suggestion of changing the upper kitchen cabinets to glass inserts like at Grand Floridian villas so that you can find things. The cabinet above the microwave wasnt storage before but the cabinet over the fridge was. I like the new small vanity in the shower room. Previously it was a pedestal sink. I do miss the vintage black and white photos of actual Saratoga Springs framed that were in the foyer and over the formerly jacuzzi tub. Nice. Thank you for sharing.

we stayed here in 2012 and they were in the middle of renovating the buildings. I believe we stayed in the Congress Park section. I remember asking if we could placed in one of their newly renovated buildings since my parents were elderly. Front desk staff told us none were available. After our first night we noticed the AC stopped cooling and found out the compressor failed, the staff said there were 2 options.... we were encouraged to stay in the room and a maintenance man would be by the following day to repair the AC. The second option was to be moved to a new room. We were moved to the new renovated Carousel building. The carpet had been upgraded, new furniture and there was new paint. The buildings exterior themselves were also being touched up with new paint.
First time ever staying in 01/2019. And our kitchen sink was leaking. They fixed it, and had cold to hot and hot to cold. We didn’t bother having them come back to fix it. We left a note when we checked out. Hope to stay in the remodeled ones!
And yes, it is a goofy angled shower. That was the way the old one was b4 the remodel.

call in the locals and have a party! LOL Didn't the bathtub area used to open up into the bedroom? Like you could sit in the bathtub and watch TV, you could see the tub from the bed? LOL

Stayed in a 2BR there in 2016, and you are not kidding, they really did a great job with the remodel.. I remember the rooms being boring and bit "sage green". This looks so fresh with some really fun artwork. Big Big improvement.
My hotel looked the exact same as this! 😂

That's not a hotel room it's an apartment/condo all those amenities you could move in. It was lovely.
Tom, that’s not a laundry tray. It’s a collapsible laundry basket. I think the refurbishment at SSR makes the rooms in the Top 3 DVC best rooms.

When this video premiered, I was staying for 2 nights at Saratoga for the first time in The Paddock in a non-refurbished studio. (Thanks for taking pity on me for the old room, Tom, in the live chat on August 9th.) It was on the ground floor, so the patio opened up directly to the courtyard that had 4 statues. That was cool. I also only had to walk a few steps to/from the drop-off from rideshare. Although it was an outdated room (green carpet, heavy or dense furniture, safe with a key, etc.), I was okay with it. But the newer rooms shown here look and function to be better, for the most part. If Tom had not demonstrated raising up the coffee table, I would not know that that could be done. I also love the statues in the living room.
One question: was this the same room number as when Annie toured this type of room last year? Or close?
