Clint is a national treasure. Thank you for doing this interview.
It was an honor
Excellent
So his is wife
I'm pretty sure I wiped out a whole pot of coffee watching this video ☕ Getting in a hour's worth of wisdom and conversation with the both of y'all was well worth the time spent. THANK YOU!!!!
I am blessed
Only one cup, but I drank it slow. Couldn't find anything I'd want to debate with Mr. Smith, especially carrying a defensive pistol without a round in the chamber. Most people, especially as they get older, are going to have enough trouble reacting to a life threatening situation with one IN the chamber. Having to rack one in will almost surely result in rendering the pistol worthless.
@@the45er one can Thai iced tea (Hawaii, hotter n hell) , I’m buzzing cuz it’s the real stuff from Thailand, also trying to get out the door to bring the grandkids to the range, maybe hit the beach depending how long we stay
I'm doing in right now
An older friend told me this: when someone older shares their wisdom, listen close. Eat the meat, spit out the bones. You don’t have to agree with everything, but at least consider what they have said. Pay attention. Think about it all. Act accordingly.
Interesting video. When I began the police academy in ‘68 we were taught accuracy w/our revolvers (bulls eye shooting) but not how to survive a gunfight. Following my 1974 gunfight w/three armed robbery suspects our range training changed, and we were trained how to win a gunfight. I was damn lucky to have come out on top that night, but I’m also a Viet Nam combat vet so that may have had something to do w/it.
Welcome home Old Cop. Deo Vindice!
I’ve known Clint since the late 70’s and trained at TR many times. I never tire of hearing his insightful wit and worldly wisdom!!
p
I’ve had a fire extinguisher near my bed since hearing his advice about 4 years ago
Clint is one of those few men you can both love & respect.
I am honored to call him a friend now. Both he and Heidi are just good people.
I've always loved salty old guys who don't sugar coat wisdom. Clint is a valuable source of wisdom I've enjoyed for decades. So was his mentor Col Cooper.
I wish I had better words. I love this guy. He provides unique views to make you think outside the box. He needs to do voice overs.
I could sit down and talk to Clint for hours. I've known quite a few remarkably intelligent people, but only 2 genuinely wise people and Clint is both. I'd love to spend a month up there at the ranch and take all his classes. This man has lifetimes of knowledge to teach.
I'd love to spend a few months learning as much as I can from Clint. Big fan of Clint.
Clint Smith is a national treasure. Thanks!
I love this format and the longer video. Clint seems like a guy with lots of stories.
Holy crud, that was good...
An hour well spent!
It helped refocused number one:
"Mindset".
I’m late to the party but wanted to say thank you for the video. I carry whenever and wherever legal…. and while at home. I have a membership with a local range that also offers classes that also cover the legalities for carry and use of a firearm in the state I live in. The very first time I’d come across anything related to Clint Smith was an article in a gun magazine. At the time (21years ago) I was looking for a holster for my first pistol. In the article I read and have carried a quote from him. “Carrying concealed is meant to be comforting, not comfortable.” Thank you both for all that you do.
Clint's is a hero! I love listening to him talk, id love to go to one of his classes.
You should do it.
Nothing but space and opportunity. You will be glad you did.
One of the fastest hours I can recall in a while. Thanks to Clint Smith for providing all of this info as a public service, and sincere thanks to Bryan for bringing Clint to the channel. This was extremely useful and informative.
I was honored to be able to do this.
My pistol training has always been the same M-F lots of dry fire and drawing the gun. Come Saturday I fire around 100-250 rounds of 9mm and 200-400 of 5.56x45mm. I have been doing this for 11 years.
Thank you. Clint is a wealth of wisdom.
Yea he is
Clint is the best. No fluff, he just tells it how it is. We need more people like him..
Yes we do. I got to swing by and see him and Heidi today after SHOT Show. They are teaching classes just outside Las Vegas for the next couple of weeks. It was really great to see them again.
Clint is the real deal. I wish I could spend time with him. I could use a mentor in my life. I have been on my own since my mother died in high school. Went in the Army, Raised 3 men myself, and I know I did good, but I wish I could have some modern training for a disabled person like myself. It is different when your disabled. Things have also changed in the last 16 years.
Cares and prayers K. C.
Great video. Clint Smith is one of the Best.
Couldn't agree more!
Well said! a living legend and treasure!
Clint's the man , It never gets tiring of listening to him ! 👍
Thank you Clint for all you have done to train Americans, thank you for your service to our Country and Law Enforcement. USAF 67-68.
It was an amazing training opportunity.
I was blessed.
Great interview. Love the stuff on how we are tried by law manipulated by lawyers. People in my classes really have a hard time understanding this.
As always solid advice. Clint Smith is a goldmine of knowledge
One of the best talks with Mr.Smith
Clint Smith is wonderful, thoughtful and engaging. Great Video, Thanks!
Don’t know and never met Clint but watching him talk on a host of subject mater he sure would be an awesome guy to take a class from!

Tremendous interview. Well done. Great way to capture a treasure for those of us who aren't looking for a reason to be offended. Now...for those fire extinguisher reviews 👍👍

THANKS AGAIN FELLAS
Thank you. We need this wisdom.
Clint is awesome, I'd love to train with him and listen to him
I could listen to Clint all day. I put a fire extinguisher in the bedroom after one of his older videos. Love his advice and stories.
Me too.
true words of wisdom, sat through the entire video with a cup of orange juice. Love this man Clint Smith, would take his classes for sure.
It was such an honor and I have to thank my friend James Yeager for inviting me to go out there with him. They are both excellent instructors, teachers and human beings.
Brian, great video! Thanks for making it.
Great video! I was sad to hear Clint was selling his facility.
You and me both!
For all the people who want to be like John Wick, they should be more like Clint Smith.

Love Clint Smith! One of the best videos I’ve seen. Thanks
It's one of the best I have done
I just watched this again and it’s even better the second time. This is probably the best interview with Clint on YT.
I try to just let Clint talk and I didn’t edit a single thing.
We love you Clint and know that you care about us. Thanks Clint.
What a man.
Always A Pleasure To Hear Clint Speak. Thanks For Sharing This With Us.

Wow what a view. Great interview.
Thanks Bryan and Clint, what great commen sense advise.
Outstanding video! So happy I stumbled upon.
In the last two weeks I have seen so many videos that featured Clint Smith and Thunder Ranch, all were entertaining and learning opportunities but to end the week with Brian@SOP and Clint was the best by far! Thanks Brian
If Clint had a Good Morning America daily show I'd be the first subscriber.
You'd be 2nd ;-)
Clint looks amazing for 72.
Thank you, Clint. Thank you for all of the knowledge you have passed on to us. You are one of a kind, a living legend reminding me of Davey Crockett and Daniel Boone. And trying to be respectful, Heidi is super hot!
I’m so glad you’re still around…I’m a Clint & Massad admirer..
I remember thunder ranch back when I was learning about guns more than my father taught me he was a great teacher Steve Rowe he has passed now RIP Steve Rowe.
Great interview Brian thank you
Glad you enjoyed it
Man I love listening to you guys...I'm at work right now listening to a playlist of training general discussion and model specific for what I carry/have assembly cleaning and repairing videos. But this is one of my favorites. I couldn't imagine not having started taking at least one training course every 6-8 months since I bought my first firearm 12 years ago.
Clint for president! 👍🏿
Interesting word in the interview “ Eland” that means you been to my side of the world.
I listened to the short version of this talk and I liked it so much I will listen to the full version. It's put in my watch list now.
A great video. I always enjoy listening to Clint Smith. I just learned he came from Indiana, where I live. We are planning on driving to Oregon/Washington later this year. An informative interview.
WOW thank you both for this video your time and effort making this video and to Mr Smith for his time.
Clint is amazing, "don't be a dumbass find another way home", pure gold!
Great interview!!
I love have straight forward Clint is. He does not BS around and calls it like it is. I really miss that about being in the Infantry. The civilian world can not handle this level of honesty. great interview and I would love to meet and attend training with Clint one day.
Some of us in the civilian world thrive on this kind of honesty
Very practical way of thought on primary functions, life happens good and bad, the real danger is a lack of awareness. The difficulties ahead must be dealt with intelligently because it will be in short supply, your future as well as others may depend on your clarity and focus both of which develop through training.
Thank you both for your time and efforts in sharing your knowledge. It's important in ways beyond what any of us know...
I listened to the whole thing and was amazed at the honesty! Loved the key word, Train....Keep going
Glad you enjoyed it!
Never heard of this channel, but just watched this interview in its entirety and signed into CZcams on my phone so I could leave this comment. Fantastic interview asking good questions without interrupting Clint. Very cool - you have a new subscriber
Great video!!
Clint Smith, love that guy.
What an Icon in the shooting industry, he truly is a national treasure. Have to admit it saddens me to know that he's thinking about selling Thunder Ranch. It's always been on my bucket list to go there for a class, heck it would be worth the cost even if you never fired a shot, just to set down and talk to Clint Smith.
That is exactly why I jumped at the chance when James Yeager invited me to tag along and “help”. Getting the opportunity to actually train with Clint and James together was icing on the cake.
Awesome interview…. Thanks guys. 👍🏻😎🙏🏼
Legend!
I can listen to this man talk all day.
Hey Bryan it was great meeting you at the ThunderRanch/Tactical Response hybrid course. Cheers Chris L.

Clint is the BEST! Great info.
Great video, ty gentlemen.
How fortunate are you to have the pleasure of getting this interview and sharing it? You did a great job of letting Clint go. You had some great questions to keep it going.
This was special. Loved reading his articles.
237,000 subscribers! Dude, you rock. This is an excellent interview.
I tried to just shut up and let Clint talk. I learned so much from him in the 5 days I was there. It was truly an honor and I am so thankful to James for inviting me along.
@@SurvivalOnPurpose I would love to meet him.
Incredible
Hello from Greene county Indiana. Good video.
I carry at home all the time as well.
Research Shows
100% of Home Invasions happen at Home.
Same. Someone kicks in the door while you're sitting on the couch, no way your making it to wherever you keep your guns before its too late. Always carry on your person at home.
Same. My house is a ranch style its 68ft across, the kitchen and common areas are on one side and the master in the other and the door is in the middle. I'm in decent shape and I'd never make it to my BR.
yep
Very true. I have always done the same. Decades ago I was laying some boards in the attic of my single story house. Noone was home except me and it was about 1100. I heard my dogs barking. It was that bark that most dog owners know. Not the casual "noise making" sound but one where there is urgency, fear, and pitch to it. I peered out of one of the gable vents and saw two young guys looking around in my backyard. The fact that I had my Glock 19 with one extra mag on me made me feel a lot better as I was in a bad situation. They milled around for a while and then perhaps the barking got to them and they just left. I did call the police but they were not gound. I was lucky I had my pistol. If they had decided to enter the house (despite the dogs) it may have become a whole different situation.
I just want to say thank you.
Clints right about the main reason to carry a spare mag for your CCW. It’s not to shoot more although that a big bonus. I always try to tell people that an automatic is only as good as it’s magazine….
Yep
Had a buddy fire off an errant round on an old HK back in the day that had a de-cocker
The thing was he released the de-cocker so quickly it rotated the firing pin back into place in that split second just in time for the hammer to smack it
Boom one through the wall Thru the cabinet that another buddy was looking thru the room over
Are you really sure his finger wasn’t in the trigger? If not, that gun was broken because it should not matter how quickly you press a decocking lever.
