So interesting that some people didn’t like ACFTL. I get why, I also used to be a fangirly who would imagine exactly how I wanted books/TVshows/Movies to go and after being disappointed too many times, I learned to stop doing that and just enjoy the ride. I personally loved the book. Do I wish (spoilers) that Apollo had gotten less screen time and Jacks had gotten more? Sure. But I think that added to the angst and suspense. Overall I think Ballad is my favorite simply because it was pretty much E/J the entire book but I still loved this book and the ending was perfect. 5 star series and will forever be one of my favorite series ever and Jacks will always be one of my favorite characters.

the renegades series is my fav series of all time. nothing has topped it since I read it 4 years ago. idk how its not talked ab more but I'm so glad its making its way to booktube!
Have you read the Lunar Chronicles yet? If not, do pick it up because it's even better than Renegades imo!! It's by the same author and the biggest difference between TLC and Renegades is that the characters are a lot more fleshed out and the character dynamics are absolutely perfect!

Renegades is such a good series and it totally reminds me of Sky High! You should try the Luner Chronicles by Marissa Meyer, the first book in the series is Cinder!

I’ve had Renegades on my TBR since it came out and I FINALLY read it last month because of you!!! So glad I did, I LOVE IT!! It reminded me so much of the Incredibles (I’m a big Disney adult ngl) and I loved every minute.
A curse for true love fell really short for me. It was my most anticipated read and I felt like it took a really really long time to get anywhere and then when you did get where you wanted it ended. I needed more interaction and romance between Eva and Jacks and there was just a lot of plot that didn’t seem intricate to the storyline. The book was different than I thought.
It was one of the worst books I ever read and the first two books were 6 star reads for me

Renegades was very hyped back when it first came out in 2017, i remembered how i was waiting for the next books to be released every year after book 1 :')

Just finished a curse for True love and am torn. I absolutely loved it, but wish it had been longer and with more of certain characters. Is it just me, or did anyone else feel like Garber was setting up for a new series with that ending? The final pages gave me that impression and not all the storylines seemed tied up in the end. I can think of a couple different spin off series she could write that would be fun and different than this series.

Curse for true love was a 5 ⭐️ for me too! The ending did it for me. Roller coaster of emotions but at least that character got what he deserved lol however there was one side character I was hoping to see more of as well

i went to one of Adalyn Grace's events in the UK and she said that Belladonna was originally a standalone but she wanted to stay in the same world so she left a cliffhanger ending and to me foxglove feels like a bridge between belladonna and wisteria because it does introduce a new character and storyline
I did expect quite a bit more out of ACFTL! It was a 4 ⭐ read for me, so I still enjoyed my ride but there was so much more I feel could have been sprinkled in. 💔
I also LOVED ACFTL. I think that series might be the closest to a perfect series. I am Fred even if there are some moments that may be could’ve been better. It’s almost all perfect to me.

I read the Renegades trilogy before the hype and recommended it to Haley Pham along with others to read it. I am glad people are starting to like the trilogy because it is such a great series with many twists and turns. The ending of the book is mind-blowing... I mean... Do I see another book or two, or series continuing the story????

i enjoyed a curse for true love, it wasn't quite five stars but still good and honestly i feel like it fell into a similar place with other last in a series where the rest was already out and i really enjoyed it and i loved it so much and then i got to the last one and because of how i had built it up in my head it just couldn't live up quite as much (not just books i've had this with TV shows as well when i'd binged the seasons that were already out and then wait a couple of months for the next one). which is why i am wondering if it's not smarter to just only start reading series that are already completed.

you should read the lunar chronicles since you like renegades!! it's by the same author but i liked it even more than renegades!
I recommend The Lunar Chronicles by the same author if you loved Renegades!! It's more YA sci-fi and it's basically connected re-tellings of Cinderalla, Little Red riding hood, Rapunzel and Snow white. Imo, the characters in TLC are even better than the Renegades' characters and even the relationships are better!
It's always fun watching any of ur reading vlogs Rachel! I'm curious did u re the Caraval trilogy before the Once upon a broken heart or did u jump right into it ? I'm someone who likes to go with the sequence even if it's not an actual series and just interconnected standalones. Would love to know ur thoughts on this or anyone's thought if someone who's reading this and reached this point, u can lemme know ur suggestion on this as well! Read caraval trilogy as well for more experience of the world or just dive into once Upon a Broken Heart ?

So I waited to watch this until I finished the book! I rated it 4.5 stars!! My only complaint is that we didn’t see more interactions between Jacks and Evangeline. Not even romance, but just more of them together before she got her memory back. Maybe a bit of a longer book. I was only going to be satisfied if Apollo died. So I’m a happy girl after this book 😂 I thought it was very well done!

I was actually so disappointed with ACFTL and only rated it 3.5 ⭐ .
I am so sad and my hopes were so high after ballad. I want a redo.
Here is my reasoning why I didn't really love it -
1. not enough jacks content. Felt like most of the book was overpowered by Evangeline just being stuck with Apollo. Too many chapters from Apollo’s perspective and we didn’t really see what jacks was up to.
2. I wanted more ANGST and more dramatic reveals with Jacks and Evangeline. Even more banter and interactions between them. Felt like there wasn’t much of them in this book 😦And Jack's love admission was literally just "ily"... like are you fr??
3.there’s so many open plot strings that haven’t been tied. It felt like half the characters just disappeared in this third book with no explanation - Luc, Marisol and Tiberius especially. Where tf were they? They were such major characters in book 1. Also hellooo?? The third kiss that Evangeline still hasn't fulfilled?
4. A few other open plot points with the Valor family, but I feel like these were intentional for another series centered around Lala / chaos.
5. jack’s kiss not killing Evangeline despite the curse - this wasn’t really properly explained imo?? Why didn’t his kiss kill her?

So many plot lines and characters were forgotten, like WHY 😫
Also point 5, I was really confused at first but then I reread the scene and from what I understood Jacks has to love the other person truly like he loved Evangeline and the curse would be broken.
I gave it 4 ⭐️ - kinda disappointed with so many questions left unanswered.
CFTL I feel there were a lot of loose threads forgotten about or maybe there will be some spin off series? 🤷🏻♀️

Since you love renegades try Steelheart by Brandon Sanderson people with powers rule the country and this kids dad gets killed by Steelheart so 10 years later he’s trying to join the recliners, a group of people,taking out those with powers, so he can get revenge and the romance is so good!

I absolutely loved ACFTL! I made the mistake of reading other people’s reviews about it before actually reading it and let me tell you the reviews were not it! This book gave me everything i needed and more! For people complaining about apollo getting more screen time than jacks, well it had to be done this way otherwise how would we understand his actions and the evil that was him! And (SPOILER ALERT) that b*tch aurora i wanted to pull her hair throughout the entire book she’s so damn annoying and evil and the story is more linked up to her than i have thought! Also many people were still wondering what the apples were for like hello?? It’s obvious at the end of the book why do h need clear answers for everything? Some things are better this way! Now lemme talk about lala and castor 🤭 I WANT A WHOLE SERIES ABOUT THESE TWO! omg the bickering and the teasing gosh i love them😭 i wanted more of them sooo bad!
