Jeremy, I am a programmer and in my 4th year of my bachelor's degree in computer science. I am really glad to have found your channel, you have a gargantuan amount of knowledge about keyboards & my love for game soundtracks has recently sparked a new interest in me: I need to get a keyboard and learn all about it. I am really attracted to the CASIO CT-X5000 right now due to the flexibility and the plethora of features it offers as you have described. Going to look at more of your videos!

I accually ended up getting the Korg ek50 also so now have the Casio ctx5000 plus the Korg.
Things I notice is the Casio is far more versatile and cleaner slightly more real sounds.
The Korg has better sound quailty and keyboard feels better.
It has little learning curve over the casio.
The Korg can use up to a 2tb disk drive. Have a spare 500gb USB drive so will come in handy.
The essemble while nicer than the casio found it's not as suitable as the equivalent feature on the casio.
Find strings on the korg are richer and feel better.
Like the rock styles better on the Korg.
The keyboard split on the korg standard is a bit high for accompliment and lower it by 4 keys so is the same range as the casio else the korg forces you to play either on the upper part of the keyboard or you got to adjust the octave, or I think transpose, so out of the box casio is better here.
    Both keyboards do feel different.
The most frustrating thing with casio is the menu system, lots of buttons and menus to go through.
While I have not yet read through the whole manual think casio it maybe essential.
With the Korg they have a more detailed pdf owners manual.
Mind you modern keyboards have so many voices now not as friendly as the old keyboard as they had less voices so 1 button 1 voice not like now 1 button and have to input numbers to find them and need a list of voices and styles to find them quick.
Casio has listed these on a sperate sheets.
Guess it will depend on my mood what keyboard I want to play, but like the idea of batteries being able to use batteries.
Also the Korg music stand I am surprised is accually metal unlike casino's one is plastic but both do the job.
While watching videos on piano setting I thought in all the Casio sounded better but now that I have both in real life I prefer the Korg piano.
As for sounds it's now harder to justify dearer keyboards as like sampled pianos they are starting to sound similar and as good as much dearer keyboards. So it may not be the sounds that justify the price but the versatile, extra features and build quality and of course 128 polyphony which you dont get on the cheaper keyboards
So like you compared the sounds of pianos between dear and cheap and sounded pretty much the same so are the sound samples on the keyboards of this range are sounding much the same as their dearer counterparts.
I have been playing off and on for years keyboards and organs and both these keyboards have everything I need.

After trying for 3 weeks to decide between the Yamaha prs463 and the Korg ek50 I just discovered this Casio (Casio never been a famous name where I'm from in instruments, more toys).
But I don't really understand this comparison Jeremy, you say that Korg is more for ppl who just want to turn it on and play, while Casio is more complicated since you have so many possibilities and can make your own sounds and beats... But I though you can do that with the Casio aswell (and I confess I'm clueless since I haven't played neither). I mean, can't you just pick a tone and style and play straight away? And sound and beat editing is an extra option, like the arpeggios or effects? And the styles in Casio sound pretty good too... What am i missing?
      Thanks man!

Good review .I personally would go for the Ctkx 5000 Full sequencing great sounds more like a Workstation synth ,ive owned lots of synthsesisers through the years and prefer making my own tracks from scratch in the sequencer ,so accompaniments are not to important to me so i think the Casio is my choice .

The Casio CT-X 5000 speakers sounds are exceptional ! The Korg like the Casio has sound effects but get this . The Korg sound effects are multiple where as the Casio are singler . Meaning if you play ones laughing or dogs barking or babies crying or cars roaring . Take off the S on each of these for you cant get more then one dog barking or babies crying ect. on the Casio. You only can get one. For this as with the desired elimination of various voices when performing. Korg had really done its homework.

I still really dunno what to pick.
With ek50 I love ability to turn off each part of accompaniment.
But CTX5000 looks like it comes with huge possibility - edits, registers, bigger sequencer tracks.
Or maybe korg pa300 is better choice?

Currently looking at entry level keyboards for my son and came across your videos, which are guiding me in the right direction.
In stumbling across your videos, I see that you are from Singapore! I love Singapore, and had the pleasure of living there for a few years back in the late 80’s. I lived close to the orchard road area and hung out at Woodstock Lounge, which used to be on the roof of Far East Plaza. John Chee, guitar. Kamal Osbam, bass and best friend! Edgar (rip)from the Philippines played drums, man those were the days!
    Keep up the good work😎

Get the best one with sound you like! Good sounds really inspire you (me) to play a lot more -- always a good thing! IMO: I like the Casio but you've got to 'tweak' your sounds (tho this begins your journey in editing sounds). Honestly even tho I own a Casio, I would recommend a keyboard with better 'out of the box' inspiring tones. Casio is not the best for ready-made sounds. Hope this helps.

I have played all Keyboard Brands, including Yamaha, Korg, Roland and yes, Casio... I have bought the New Casio CT-X3000....New AiX Engine, Sounds better than any other Casio I have ever played... Drums are fantastic! Pianos are good and some other tones are very usable, some are the same as in other old Casio models... The "basic" nylon Guitar is Terrible! The styles are Ok, but I am not a fan of them. In my opinion, they sound like a "bad arranged Midi file". The Casio Operating System is a Nightmare!!! Not User friendly at all... The new Updated Speaker system sounds very nice... Am I happy with this Keyboard? Sorry, but I am not... The AiX Engine is Nice, but I think the whole keyboard needs more updates, like a new Operating System, New more "Lively" Styles, and better Keys... Sorry Casio...
