Good sum up and comparison at the end there - all good cars, but all too expensive. You asked which aspect of the criteria you listed is the most important? In brief, I think I should have to say maximum comfort and soft suspension now - as the road surfaces are so incredibly poor, and speed limits and clogged roads means we drive about at 20 mph everywhere! Audi interior, light design is killing but I hate two touch screens. BMW does it best when it comes to ease of use. Some functions are best kept as physical buttons.

My first BMW was an Isetta back in '58. This is much more practical. Took the Isetta on my Honeymoon after my brothers lifted it off the front porch.

Great Video Guide To The Best Large Estate Cars On The Road
Audi do make a good looking estate car, in my opinion. I agree with you about their indicators, Thomas; some days I like them, other days I don't, and I don't know why!
Audi has the most satisfying interior…..Audi seemed to always be in the top 1 or 2 of all of your summary comparisons on feature levels you covered at the end

Love Munich esp the food. There last year with my wife for the annual Munich HI-FI Show. Visited the BMW Museum. Great experience. Beautiful country driving back from Salzburg Austria. Great memories.

Volvo has been killing it lately. I saw one on the road the other day and I was awestruck. Audis are getting old, Bmw is getting designed by comitee, brutalism on wheels. whoever is designing Volvos cars are doing a tremendous job

We have ordered our 2023 Audi A6 Allroad Prestige, that should be arriving within the month (after a very long wait!). We think, by far, it has the best exterior design, and we also really love the interior. We’re excited to see what it’s like to live with! We’re trading in our 2019 Audi Q7 Prestige, so we feel it’ll be very familiar, with a much better driving dynamic (car vs. SUV). And, that’s saying a LOT, considering the Q7 was an exceptional driver!
what matters the most for a familly car is *SAFETY* and we all know who's the best

To be honest the E-Class engine you had was the more interesting one. HAving a V8 is nice, having a R6 with one conventional turbocharger and an electrical turbocharger is way more fun. Instantenious Power from down below without a turbolag is such a blessing. Makes the engine seem to have way more power than it actual has.
I know I'm in the minority but I'll take a wagon over an SUV any day. I got a Volkswagen SportWagon and hopefully E Class wagon after college. Great review as always Thomas!
If you're in a minority it's because most people are idiots. The majority of SUVs are jacked up, inefficient, slower versions of wagons.

I watch a few videos of the 2017 Volvo s90/v90 t6 inscription the test drivers never mention that the CD player is in the front console I just bought my S90T6 inscription with the bowers and Wilkins 19 speakers 1400 watts sound system with the CD player in the console. Beautiful Volvo CD system is in the front seat console not all inscription has one I have one in my S90 T6 inscription
I will go for Audi A6 exterior, Volvo V90 interior, BMW performance and Mercedes insulation, suspension and logo

I really appreciate your reviews, they are among the very best on CZcams. Given your extensive experience driving these cars, which one of the BMW 5 series and Mercedes E-class would you say has the most silent ride (with acoustic comfort package for the latter)?
From all the reviews I have seen, the E-class is quieter, but not by much.
Actually the comments about the length of this show. Do they realize this is a full presentation of four vehicles. So it’s rather quick per vehicle. And yes you could make a quicker version of this show too. Just 3-5mins per vehicle overview. To calm them down. For me I stop start as it suits my timing. And I enjoy every minute of it all. Thomas your are quite the story teller and I am sucked in 🌹🙏👍😉

I'm so disappointed with the US department of EPA! These wonderful wagons I've been so enamored with my whole life! In 1st place...The E53...The runner up...The 5 series in the 540 model..Then I'm going to add the V60 in T6 trim over the V90... Audi?

Is the BMW G31 more quiet inside compared to the F11 model 5 series?
BMW is the best, in addition, BMW and Mercedes-Benz are in my opinion the only true authentic premium brands ... An Audi is a somewhat more luxurious Volkswagen and Volvo is a traditionally solid (but in reality very low scores on reliability) Swedish family car, who pretends to be premium.

Any comments on the US Buick Regal TourX Essence model which is the Opel built at Russelsheim plant. Loaded it is $42,000.00 US, but with deep discounts. Sad to say we can not get the BMW 5 wagon only the X5.

Yes they could. They are restrained, but will date better. The Merc is too flamboyant, and the Audi can look out of date in 2-3 years.
@@sirbuftontufton5846 So BMW went straight to being outdated and skipped all the stages in between. That 8 series in particular has such a shitty interior for its price. Yeah i know, they're paying tribute to the old car, but jesus christ. Not that i can afford it, i'm just saying.
@@Sandouras I drive the previous gen A6. I've sat in new A6 vs 5 vs E class. E class is flash but cheap in places. A6 is new for the sake of it, but when the novelty wears off you're left with multiple touchscreens which are borderline dangerous in a car on the move, and just doesn't work well. 5 series interior is conservative but the highest material quality. Wouldn't know about the 8 series - out of my league.
@@sirbuftontufton5846 It's true that BMW keeping the iDrive is really good and that the touchscreens are dangerous. I just think that BMW is still playing it conservative after people hated Chris Bangle's designs.
@@Sandouras True enough. I actually think the 5 is more conservative on the outside. The inside played safe, but still changed compared to previous gen. But outside barely changed at all.
Wow, I didn't believe I could watch so long a video, but I made it :-) the calm and smooth voice of Thomas almost made me sleepy, but in 2 days I made it through. One thing I always wonder why I never get it to the end with the back seats? Are they flat-folding or not? In my MB 2008 T, they fall perfectly flat and I can take a nap and even spend some nights, enjoying nature and the sound of the rain, falling on the roof. And that's it. I do not know if anyone makes those seats anymore>I see they fall down but have some angle. Am I right and if so, do you know who makes these cars today? From the SUVs, I think MB GL/S, LR Discovery, Audi Q7 but I am curious about station wagons..

Interesting aspect with the seats, I know that the Ioniq 5 has an extra function for that. And I find it very interesting, I try to include that kind of thing in the next review

But it was many years ago. Maybe they've changed their minds. 2:47:15 almost had an accident, see side view mirror. Volvo failed on Blind spot warning, in fact was late to warn to be correct.
When Peugeot used touch screen in the new 308 for pretty much all controls including climate control, EVERYBODY was talking bull💩 about it and how such a bad idea it is and blah blah blah...i test drive the 308gti for 2 full days and it was new but not a massive issue...now audi is doing exactly the same and it is even lower so you have to take your eyes off the road even longer but not a single bad review about it?? Makes me lough every time...

All of them have thei own personality and strengh. My heart go to Volvo, but reason says Mercedes. Audi is sexyiest. But i would buy the Bmw if i had the money.

Wow, this auto played and it's all the cars I want to be compared! Well, some of them. I really wonder how much "worse" the Skoba Superb is. Only as weak PHEV now, pointless for gas savings but I love the idea of silent driving.
Are there any SUVs that are like a Wagon, but better somehow? It's lovely to sit higher, I know from the original Espace I used to drive. And vans. SUVs seem to be on the short side with their cargo space, though?
In a similar price class, but maybe costly more when optioned out, the Jaguar XF Sportbrake. Looks amazing, supposedly drives well. But hard to get. So good looking...
