Nice video. Always have loved Panama City. Very vibrant and cosmopolitan. You didn't mention the fact that Panama City has a Metro system (light rail). It doesn't go everywhere, but it can come in handy and is very cheap. Also, you briefly touched on the retirement visa, but that visa, commonly known as the Pensionado Visa, provides many benefits that make it one of the best (if not the best) retirement visas in the world. One correction: it's Casco Viejo, not Casa Viejo. Thanks!
And the metro will have a stop at the international airport in second half of 2022. That in itself will make it extremely useful and convinient. And the best part, you can avoid paying greedy taxi drivers to drive you to the city from the airport or vice versa.
Also, one can combine the Metro rail system with any other form of transportation to get to one's destination. Mix and match in whatever form is more convenient. Often the Metro will get you paces faster than on a bus because it doesn't have to worry about traffic.

@@youpihat I have worked in Mexico probably before you were born. Am here in Tecate MX. Waiting to return to Malaysia. Many places in Mexico have a lot of trash and there are some fantastic places. I was commenting on where they were. The cleanest city I ever saw was Singapore. But I even know one place that beats that. The Sultans palace in Seremban Malaysia. His private golf course is emasculate. I know as my step-son is a Malaysia prince from that state. My comments were thanking Dan and Qiang for showing me some nice areas.

Lived in Panama city for 2 years got bored easily you have to learn Spanish to interact with the locals got tired and moved to Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia and now Philippines. The Philippines was the only place that you feel welcome people are civil, friendly easy to communicate with. As a single man it suits me well.

Interesting video and well done. I never spent time on looking at apartments - glad you included that. Panama City is nice and lots to do there. Now that the Metro train is there it should be easier to get around to some places. I heard a lot about the local and travel discounts for people that get the Pensionado Visa.

Also, I find that your cost of living assessments are more realistic that most other US or Canadian citizens arriving in Panama as they tend to report that things are more expensive than they really are simply because they are willing to pay more for what most Panamanians pay less for.

If you enjoy scorching heat and humidity Panama City will suit you just fine ;)
Humidity is good unless you want the sun to roast your skin. But Arizona is much worse than Panama when it comes to scorching heat and hordes of people are moving to that state.
@@guillermogouldburn763 Arizona feels more comfortable at 115F then Panama does most of the year. No thanks.
You can tell me humidity is good for me but that doesn't mean I want to feel hot and disgusting year-round. I'll stick to Hawaii. 70 to 85 year round with a high humidity that you don't feel due to trade winds.
@@wanderingdoc5075 Ive been to Arizona and I know what 105 degrees feel like without rain to boot. You can keep that. Maybe no one has told you; but Panama City never goes above 90F degrees and it's right by the sea with the sea breeze, so if you like Hawaii, you like Panama, you just don't know it.
@@guillermogouldburn763 No, a sea breeze is not the same thing. Trade winds are unique to Hawaii. You will know once you feel it. I didn't even need to use a ceiling fan in my apartment in Waikiki, let alone A/C. You couldn't even sleep in Panama City or Phoenix without A/C.
@@wanderingdoc5075 If you are from North America, specifically cold states, you're going to hate the weather in Panama City. If you're from one of the warmer states, you'll actually think it's on the cool side. Only thing I know is that on hot days here in NYC, everybody and their pets are out and about, girls half-naked, parks full of people, children playing at playgrounds, impromptu parties on every corner, people riding bikes, all while complaining about the heat, lol.

What is the attitude in Panama towards the vaccine?
Are there many unvaccinated people there?

They don't seem to be as much political discourse here about vaccines. People seem to just trust the doctors more here I think. There don't seem to be as many conspiracy theories here about vaccines. I love this city. ๐you can get a beautiful fully furnished apartment for 1,000 a month.my best friend has a fantastic two bedroom apartment $1,200.00
So ,the same type of apartment in my home town $3 ,000 a month. Understand we never never complain about Panama ๐ต๐ฆ balboa is only $2.65 , for can beer .so the hell with a bottle.

Dan, I really enjoy watching all your videos. Lots of great information. My wife and I will retire in 3 years and plan on moving out of the USA and doing slow travel starting with South and Central America and Europe and Eastern Europe later on. A big reason we are moving is because of the high insurance costs, plus we want to explore the world. Our budget will be about 2,500 per month along with another 2,500 extra for savings and about 40K in savings. We will still have a 2 unit apartment we will rent in NY. I had a couple of questions I still can't find an answer for and was wondering if you could help or perhaps make a video sometime. How do you handle your place of residence in the states? I have been looking at virtual mailboxes and addresses but was wondering how it all works. Do you just use a family member for your mail and residence? We only plan on returning to the states maybe once a year or less. I was wondering about a valid address for driver's license, taxes etc. Because our apartment is in NY should I just try to find a virtual address/mailbox in NY? I was wondering if you had any recommendations. Also I was wondering what type of budget you have when you travel from country to country and if you use a certain site for the best prices. We plan on visiting countries and cities in 'close' proximity before moving to the next. You don't include those costs in your budget. And lastly, I know you self insure and my wife and I both plan on doing that but want to have an insurance policy for those high cost emergencies. I am 70 and my wife is 60. We plan on paying out of pocket for most medical visits as we have savings for that. We will have insurance in Colombia since my wife is from Colombia and could always travel back there if we needed to. After writing all of this, I realize it is too much to ask from you, but if any subscribers have any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it. I am from Australia so have only really had experience with Asia ie Thailand and Japan. I am interested in the romance of South and Central America ie the Architecture,history, laid back life style and certain products ie cheap good quality cigars and rum that although not always healthiest of past times ,like indulging in occasionally, a good quality cigar in Australia can cost up to $50 US a stick. I can see my self in a Panama hat on a wide verandah in a white linen jacket with a 3$rum and 10$cigar ๐ค๐. However I have heard mixed messages about the safety of the place, which can be very area specific, whatโs your favourite part of South and Central America and what would you miss most about the place if you lived in Asia full time in comparison

There's an error = Panama do not have direct flights all over the world at all ! It's absolutely not !
Panama only have direct flights to Northern, Central and Southern America, Caribbean region, Germany, Holland, France, Spain and Turkey ONLY !

Transportation rechargeable Card valid for Bus and Metro = 2$00.

Bus fare is = 0$25, can change two times of bus for one journey for the same fare, each changing time is 40 minutes.
For changing Bus, you have to valid your card before get off the bus with the machine at the exit door !

Metro fare is = 0$35. there are 2 lines of Metro, each line is independent fare. There is only one station has interchange for two lines, if you change other line inside the station, the second line will charge you 0$50, but if you go out the station from the first line then go back to the station to take the second line, the fare is the same as the first line 0$35. the reason is because the machine at the entrance from outside charge only 0$35, but the machine inside the station charge 0$50.
