In my 79th year, and I think back to these great old days. The great music, great lyrics and beautiful times. It was a different world back then .. so much different than today. I wish that there was a place ... a town, a city ... filled with us ... like minded people .. where we could listen to these great sounds and speak to each other ... yes, actually talk to each other and dance in the streets, share beautiful memories and love and care for each other. I know what you’re went through. I had mines broken too. Your heart will mend back in due time, but it will be awhile or for some never. I hope yours do
Memories, memories. Life is short and it is only when you are old, you realize it. I'm 73. I feel sorry for the young ones today. Life back then was uncomplicated. There were rules like girl/boy, courting, engagement, marriage, baby. Heaven help you if got the last two items round the wrong way. And the music was, with some awful exceptions, beautiful, melodious and romantic. "Rhythm of the rain" is a perfect example.
I'm 56, well next month 1 year older whatever. I grew up with this Music. My dad playing it just about every day. I still love it today. He's passed about six months now and I listen to it more now than ever it reminds me of him and the good old days. Love you pops❤️
I'm 5 years younger than you and it was difficult back then about girls, marriage and babies but I broke all that and was glad I did even if it was often very difficult Also broke the rules about race and sex when I was 20 and often thereafter My first child I was married and the next 2 no but I gave them my name, support and loved them just as much
I wasn't born until the 90s, but I remember listening to this song as a kid because it was one of my mom's favorite songs ever since she was a little girl. So she played it a lot, and in turn, I loved it too!
I used to live with my grandparents when I was 2-4, they would always play this song together with Danke Schoen, Dream Dream Dream and others. I wish I had appreviated those days more often, when we could listen to this song while driving in the countrysides of Malaysia.
Today is the best day of my life. I’m 35 and I have been looking for this song for the past 25 years. I knew it would come one day. Lovely masterpiece ❤️
Brandon Honestly what is the big deal with putting my positive input on here. I wasn't slating anybody, however I know that it comes to a surprise that not a lot of people my age like this style of music and I know a lot of older people who found out that I know most of the 50's and 60's songs, American and British. Can't put something nice on here now days without somebody saying that my opinion is "cringey" as such. Move along.
I'm a teenager, 15 years of age. I remember my dad playing this on the radio of a 4 hour roadtrip. Ever since I've heard of it, it has never left my head. Always calms me down when it's being played. Who cares if it's an oldies song? It's better than WAP!
As you get older and older and listening more to oldies songs, you realize that you're young again and the feelings are much more fantastic and amazing. Just how I feel, that's all.
Man, born in 2002, and this song speaks to me now more than ever, even tho I listened for 8 hears almost. Can't believe my first gf was at 20. She left me for a brand new start, and along with her, she took my heart. Half a year later and it still hurts...
I love growing up in the 60s, the best time in my life. Music, clothes, just a Awesome Time. Everytime a song comes on, I can tell were I was at and with who. I wish we could go back just for a little while.

I used to sing this to my little girl before she was born and then when she was just a baby I'd seen it to her.... Now she's all grown up. And I hope the song means the same to her as it does to me for her
Do you mean you grew up in the 60s and early 70s during the war in Vietnam, or you are a war veteran who fought in Vietnam? You worded that very funny.
+Krishna M they answered the call of war. A call they themselves did not make. Do not call someone who served their country an idoit, call the people who put them in that situation an idiot.
+Krishna M You are an idiot and absolutely ignorant of reality. Those of us who are vets were not there by choice. We were as much the victims of abusive big money as were the beautiful people of Vietnam. Like it or not, we answered our draft calls and went where we were sent. And never forget...more than 55,000 of us never saw our homes and families again.
I was surfing CZcams and this song came up. The last time I heard this song was 50+ years ago. It brought back some good memories of me listening to this song on my small transistor radio tucked under my pillow at night.
Your comment about tucking a small transistor radio under your pillow is the first time I've seen that someone, other than myself, did that. I did that all of the time.
Angela Todd, I have myself a portible late 1940's 56A Gilfillan radio. My father restored it fully last year for me. I bought it for just $30 at the Pomona Swap Meet about four years ago.
I, along with several friends, were going to Latin American and ballroom dancing lessons in the 60's, and I remember being taught the Rumba to this song. Although I can no longer dance, this song will always remind me of those happy days.
I was staying in a hotel in Seattle in 1987, the entertainment was a guy with a guitar and synthesizer. (quite primitive) he played this song, and I had goosebumps. Went to him and told him it was my absolute favorite. He said "thanks, I wrote it!" Eddie Preston. Didn't use that name when he was with the Cascades.
Great song I met a boy at a dance when I was nineteen in 1966 and danced with him to this it was magic and I still feel goose bumps when I hear this song. What a time to be young it was the best. Thanks for the memories💙💙💗
"Listen to the rhythm of a falling rain, Telling me just a fool I've been, I wish that it would it go and let me cry in vain, And let me be alone again . . " Beautiful lyrics, as a poem.
I listened to The Cascades in the early 60 and all their music was great. I was a singer in a band back then and this song was one of our most requested, and it meant a lot to me. A year and a half ago after 35years of marriage my wife decided to wave goodbye, now this song means more to me than ever.
It was 1965 and I was stationed in San Diego Training Center at the ripe old age of 18. As I was walking on liberty, I saw a sign on a niteclub that said, "The Cascades Tonight!" Wow So I went in, but the bouncer would not let me in.On the band break I had stuck around so I could at least talk to the guys. it was cool and they really treated me nice. I asked John if they would do Rhythm of the Rain for me, even though I couldn;'t go in. They open the set with it and I stood in the door way listening. after the set. John one of the other guys came back to the lobby and we talked some more about my writing and stuff. Then My Liberty went from good to great... It just so happened that they were working on a new album and that they would be in the studio on Saturday and would I like to visit while they record? Would I? ... I was there. Little ol JB at 18 in the studio with the Cascades! guys, I dont know if you remember the incident, but I will never forget that Liberty weekend. James "JB" Banfield Blessings to you all.
Brian, I'll bet you your dad remembered the Seaman Recruit standing in the doorway as the guys were singing this song for "That Sailor who old enough to get killed for this country but cant come in to a nightclub and listen to this song... "This is for you James" and he kicked the amp!. What was so cool was the next day on Sat, I had liberty and they invited me to their studio for they were working on the second album... Oh gheez... I the got the bug bigtime...Music music music. Glad your dad was there it was one special night! JB
In the early 60's around 1962 I was 7 years old and my Mom listened to this song on the radio. It was one of her favorite songs. About 20 min ago I got through listening to the Spanish version of this song that was recorded soon after this song became a hit. Most of these songs that were recorded in Mexico that's where the Spanish versions came from. Songs that became hits here in America were later recorded and translated in Spanish by Mexican Rockers in Mexico. They also did an awesome job with this particular song but the Cascades are the original artists. It's a great song and over the years I've heard it countless times on oldies stations. It's a very wonderful song and had to listen to it.
I’m a 16 years old Asian but this song make me feels like I’m an American widower in his 70’s living in a wooden house in the countryside of America, sipping a cup of coffee in a cloudy morning. When I hear this song I think of my parents, both passed now. They had the radio on all the time, in the house, in the car. We lived out bush and I grew up with music from the 50’s and 60’s. Still some of the best I’ve ever heard.
i was like 8 when i was introduced to this song by my grandpa. he played his songs in the car everytime he'd pick me up from school. i'm still fairly young and he's still alive to this day and we still see each other. this song, along with some others, has a very special place in my heart.
This was one of my late mother's favorite songs. One of my earliest memories was of her singing along with it in the car. So long ago, so very long ago.......

Man me too. 6th grade we had an event there at the Red Coat Inn. I am 66 and graduate of Madison High 1977
I am 77 years old, but wgen ever I hear this song, my teen days even my feelings just swayed with the tune and lyrics of this song!! I can not stop to move my body with the rhythm of this song! Very contaminating to the heart and body! I love it.
I'll be that age next month, and distance or where we live has nothing to do with it - we all feel the same, great music from a great time.
79 years ... and still return
I will be 77 y/o this August and love to still listen to this music and even get up and dance a little...dance like no one is watching !!!!!
ShangriLa
For all of you that feel this way ..

A song that rings in my heart even after 60 years.I am 75 .one of the evergreen songs.Even now the rain and thunder falls around me as the song is played.
It is pouring rain right now where I live. This song, my very favorite since I was 15 (1962), is perfect for the storm.
All of us on here are with you my friend, such music brings us together, and for a few moments fill our hearts and souls with such happiness, and memories.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Bro!..did you see the flash of lightning before we hear the thunder? i am 75 of the same generation.
I'm 78 I remember this song like it was yesterday.
Those beautiful times of this kind of music are gone forever..I'm so lucky to have grown up in that era
Listen to the rhythm of the falling rain
Telling me just what a fool I've been
I wish that it would go and let me cry in vain
And let me be alone again
The only girl I care about has gone away
Looking for a brand new start
But little does she know
That when she left that day
Along with her she took my heart
Rain please tell me now does that seem fair
For her to steal my heart away when she don't care
I can't love another when my hearts somewhere far away
The only girl I care about has gone away
Looking for a brand new start
But little does she know that when she left that day
Along with her she took my heart
Rain won't you tell her that I love her so
Please ask the sun to set her heart aglow
Rain in her heart and let the love we knew start to grow
Listen to the rhythm of the falling rain
Telling me just what a fool I've been
I wish that it would go and let me cry in vain
And let me be alone again
Oh, listen to the falling rain
Pitter pater, pitter pater
Oh, oh, oh, listen to the falling rain
Pitter pater, pitter pater
Thanks for sharing the lyrics!

Nothing can beat the music of the sixties. They are real music.
There's one thing......going back in time and reliving those days !!
Thank you mom for turning me on to the music of the 50s, 60s 70s and Motown. Greatest music ever. I'm 63 and this is 90% of the music I listen to. I also love Gospel, country, jazz, R&B, rock n roll and blues. Great music
There was nothing like the 60’s. I’m glad I lived that decade.....
I wish I did because of the music. I started learning a lot of it in the late 80's but do remember my stepmother playing some of the music when I was a kid. My favorite was (do you believe in magic)
So am I! Born in 1953! Elvis and rock and roll!

Never better music
How right you are !
fitting because in 2005 this band actually did a remake of this song. check it out!
I'm 77 and can't get enough of this great music....3..15
Memories, memories. Life is short and it is only when you are old, you realize it. I'm 73. I feel sorry for the young ones today. Life back then was uncomplicated. There were rules like girl/boy, courting, engagement, marriage, baby. Heaven help you if got the last two items round the wrong way. And the music was, with some awful exceptions, beautiful, melodious and romantic. "Rhythm of the rain" is a perfect example.
So Right!
I'm 56, well next month 1 year older whatever. I grew up with this Music. My dad playing it just about every day. I still love it today. He's passed about six months now and I listen to it more now than ever it reminds me of him and the good old days. Love you pops❤️
Adrian Larkins nu
I'm 5 years younger than you and it was difficult back then about girls, marriage and babies but I broke all that and was glad I did even if it was often very difficult Also broke the rules about race and sex when I was 20 and often thereafter My first child I was married and the next 2 no but I gave them my name, support and loved them just as much
Adrian Larkins PL
I wasn't born until the 90s, but I remember listening to this song as a kid because it was one of my mom's favorite songs ever since she was a little girl. So she played it a lot, and in turn, I loved it too!
😊
You're a lucky boy. Think of the lonely sailor who wrote it while serving for the US Navy billions of miles from his favorite girl.
I can relate. Loved this song as a child. Reminds me the radio playing in the car with my Mom and the rain was coming down in upstate NY.
You poor kid. I was born in 1949 and boy you missed the music ever, the best TV, the best of everything.
You and mom have good taste
This music will go forever !!!It never ages and I don’t sicken of it !!!!!!!!
What a privilege to be growing up in a time when there was SO much Magic in ALL of the music of the era!
72 years old, listening here in the Philippines. Fond memories of listening to this great music when I was a teeny-bopper back in Minnesnowta.
Ufda! If you're near Cebu City would love to visit you sometime
I used to live with my grandparents when I was 2-4, they would always play this song together with Danke Schoen, Dream Dream Dream and others. I wish I had appreviated those days more often, when we could listen to this song while driving in the countrysides of Malaysia.
I'm 72 years old listening here in the USA with my Filipina wife .... wanna trade ,....(:0)

What does age have to do with anything😅 comments like these are so cringey
+Brandon true
Brandon Honestly what is the big deal with putting my positive input on here. I wasn't slating anybody, however I know that it comes to a surprise that not a lot of people my age like this style of music and I know a lot of older people who found out that I know most of the 50's and 60's songs, American and British. Can't put something nice on here now days without somebody saying that my opinion is "cringey" as such. Move along.
Now, now QuangThichDuc. No need for the abusive language is there. Lol wow, how mature.
I find it amazing that people are still listening to this song.
Awesome!!!! And, Thanks for sharing.
It's a master piece, so why shouldn't we listen it? 😊
I am 83 now and wow what a feeling after listening to this great composition.
I'm a teenager, 15 years of age. I remember my dad playing this on the radio of a 4 hour roadtrip. Ever since I've heard of it, it has never left my head. Always calms me down when it's being played. Who cares if it's an oldies song? It's better than WAP!
Fuck yeah man. Music is music!

Back in the 1962 my very first radio was a clock radio. The very first time I used it I woke up to this song. It's been a favorite ever since.
It’s real shame that the glorious 60s music is going away with us old folk.
We can do our part to keep it alive! I sing lots of 50s and 60s song on stream 3x a week 👍
But it isn’t

I was about 14 when that song came out. Wonderful memories. I loved the 60s music. Glad I was born in the 40s great era
Another golden oldie

Old songs are like narrating stuff. Short messages but heartfelt. I love music from the 60's so much.
Music back then had an innocence to it.the best years for music 50s-60s early 70s
@@stepney56 Yes, I like the shorter tunes from the past and their words. Long songs are repetitious and always end up shutting or changing it.
I am 74 now. This was the first song I ever purchased. Sure brings back memories of the time and life. It was pure delight.

A Vietnam era vet. Thank you for the memories.
+ronald tooke How many people did you kill?
Vertical Horizon shithead.
Welcome to the 21st Century, D Lee. You can find almost all songs which are a blast from the past here on the internet.
Angela Todd, I have myself a portible late 1940's 56A Gilfillan radio. My father restored it fully last year for me. I bought it for just $30 at the Pomona Swap Meet about four years ago.

i used to listen to the radio like that! childhood memories. Best way ever
He said "thanks, I wrote it!"
Eddie Preston. Didn't use that name when he was with the Cascades.

I listened to The Cascades in the early 60 and all their music was great. I was a singer in a band back then and this song was one of our most requested, and it meant a lot to me. A year and a half ago after 35years of marriage my wife decided to wave goodbye, now this song means more to me than ever.

My parents are so lucky to grow up with peaceful music like this
It was 1965 and I was stationed in San Diego Training Center at the ripe old age of 18.
My dad was there that night! Cool story.
JB
I’m 26 and feel like I’ve been in these times. Lord those times were different... 🖤
I think this beautiful melody and refreshing singing voice is a timeless masterpiece.
No question. It seems so simple but theres no song like it.
The good old days in America
I always sò relaxed and happy to hear this song 🎵
The atmosphere and the lyric just really give me that feeling hahaha
But I’m not complaining. I love this song
