The Queen is played by Jamaican actress Madge Sinclair ☺️ May she rest in peace
The late great Madge Sinclair who portrayed Queen Aoleon here in Coming To America was born in…wait for it, Kingston 🇯🇲. She also portrayed the Queen, Simba’s mother in the Lion King. Being a kid when this movie came out, I was so happy when Ms. Sinclair appeared onscreen because she was a big deal in my household. It’s at least touching to know that she will forever be linked with a movie that is so beloved.
Both Madge Sinclair and John Amos were married in 🎥Roots which touches my heart. A bit too epic for the lovely ladies to watch publicly (aka this platform) but still 🥰🥰🥰
Indeed, she was beloved.. ❤
@@dunbardunelm3924and James Earl Jones played their descendant Alex Haley in Roots: the Next Generations.
It's funny, you should mention "Lion King" since Akeem and Simba have the same parents.
The parents were played by James Earl Jones and Madge Sinclair in both movies.
I've never thought of that. I did for James Earl Jones but not Madge Sinclair. Also Coming to America came out 6 years before The Lion King movie.
@@beaujac311 Which is probably why they were cast for the Lion King?
DUHHH Y'ALL GOOGLE WANNABES ALWAYS THINK Y'ALL KNOW EVERYTHING
😐
You guys are the first people I've ever seen that have shown concern for Patrice's feelings with this movie
It's weird, because Patrice was a ho3 lol. And she was very rude to sleep when she thought he wasn't a prince.
The King and Queen (James Earl Jones and Madge Sinclair) were also the voices of Simba's parents in The Lion King :)
One of the best movie comedies ever...An outstanding movie....Great cast.
haha, the cast is 80% Eddie Murphy
80% Eddie and Arsenio, but there are other cast members that I like.@@tisdue
45:57 "This is America, Jack! Now you say one more word about Lisa, here, and I'm gonna break my foot off in your Royal Ass!" John Amos as Lisa's dad was so great. This movie is one of the great comedies of all-time. The multiple characters Eddie and Arsenio played were amazing. I still have to pause from laughing at the neighbors reactions when Eddie is singing after their date.
I used to love him in "Good Times"
@@TampaCEOIn 1973 when I was 10 and Good Times was my favourite show, John Amos scared the shit out of me.
This was one of the movies I watched countless times growing up, before the age of streaming services we had to record movies that aired on VHS tapes 😊 I just love the tireless positivety that Akeem has, no matter what anyone says to him or whatever he experiences 😂
A bit easier when you have tons of money at your disposal.
We named our dog Velvet because of this movie.
The Robber of that fast food restaurant Is Samuel L. Jackson’s First Role and became a superstar from that point on! MIND BLOWN!!!
I thought Jungle Fever was?? He was too funny in that; nailed being a crackhead 🤣🤣🤣
He was in "Godfellas" way before this movie. Anyway, he's amazing as always :D
One of the absolute BEST comedies of ALL TIME! I love this movie, seen it probably hundreds of times, never gets old. I knew you two would like this film, I mean everyone does, you can’t help but to like it.
When this fantastic movie 1st came out someone told me it wasn't good & not to waste my money on it. I saw it later on & realized I had should have went to see it anyway.
@@freebirdallen whoever told you that was either lying or has terrible taste in movies!
@@CChissel: He ended up doing 20 years in prison for manslaughter.
@@freebirdallen holy shit! Lesson learned, if they have bad taste in movies, steer clear, might kill you. But for real, that’s crazy.
“Just let your Soul Glo. Just let it shine through.”
Feeling all so silk and smooth just let it shine through yeah 😂😂😂❤😅😊 just let you're soullllll glow 🌟
You're absolutely right, first you ask the girl if she wants to marry you and then get permission from father. I'm glad you laughed the first few minutes, I love Eddie Murphy.
So, despite your "we don't laugh a lot" caveats at the beginning of the video, you two did laugh a lot at this movie. 😁😁 That speaks well for the film.
"Trading Places" is connected to this film. It came out a few years prior and is definitely worth the watch.
Mortimer and his brother are the homeless guys on the bridge.
Yes, at 34:58.
The most amazing thing about all that, is that none of them recognize Billy Ray Valentine XD
*😄 YOU BOTH LAUGHED A LOT 😁. GREAT REACTION, GREAT MOVIE*
fun fact: akeem's father and mother are also the royal voices of MUFASA AND SARABI
the homeless men he gave the cash to are characters from a previous movie they did together. Trading Places
If yall haven't seen Harlem nights yet its really funny
35:17 those two old men characters are from another, earlier film with Eddie Murphy-- check it out: Trading Places(1983)
Lisa's dad wasn't really being flirtatious with others wives, at least not for real. It is a common practice here to compliment a man's "better half" by saying how lovely she looks, or "mistaking" her for her daughters sister, etc.. It's a little cheesy, but traditionally one is supposed to show special deference to a man's wife, especially if they are an older couple, by commenting on her youthful appearance.
Yes. It is called making your company feel at home.
20:00 lol he didn't sanitize his hands... hahahahaha
Welcome to the 80's. What does not kill ya makes you stronger.
You have to watch Trading Places now. This movie has a brief scene that's a follow-up to the plot in that one. 👀😉
You both laughed several times which made me so very happy 🤣🌠😊
@paulamoya7956 "Now I'm as happy as a little girl!" (Dieter)
All please support this channel. These two have the best reactions and comments. Greatest reactors on CZcams.

Eddie and Arsenio played most of the extra characters! Eddie was the old Jewish man😊
You two are adorable- subbed!
YES! This movie was a huge part of my childhood.
Eddie Murphy was one of the biggest and best performers back in the 80's. This movie, along with "Trading Places", "48 hours", "The Golden Child" or "Beverly Hills Cop" are really amazing movies. This and "Trading Places" are 2 of the best comedies ever (imo)
Dear Ladies, thanks a lot for your first-class channel and great, amazing reactions! I really appreciate it! Warm greetings from the Central Europe. Have a nice, pleasant time and take care, please.
Before you gave your caveat about laughing, I knew you would love this movie. You can't help, but laugh. This movie is a comedy classic!
Trading places is also a much watch too
Lisa's Father (John Amos) and the Queen Eddie Murphy's Mother played on Roots back in 1977. John's Character was Kunta Kinte and she (the Queen on this movie) was his wife Bell on Roots. Great reaction video!
That was awesome, one of my favorite Eddie Murphy films.
All characters in barber shop and church are
Played by Eddie Murphy a few Arsenio Hall.
And the white Jewish guys Eddie too
This has been and will probably remain one of my favorite movies ever
In case she didn’t notice that man who plays the king, is James, Earl Jones, who is also the voice of Darth Vader from Star Wars and also a lion on the lion King, as well as several other movies
1. They killed the multiple roles.
2. The appearance of the Dukes is an "Easter egg" from "Trading Places".
3. James Earl Jones AND John Amos! GMAFB😎😎😁
4. A movie featuring John Amos worth a first time/share is "The Beastmaster".
5. "Coming Two America" is OK, but that's about it.
@34:53 Looks like you haven't seen TRADING PLACES! You should see it to make the connection.
this movie is so fucking hilarious. I'd love a film with jsts the stupid ass barbers lol
I just found out that the actress who played the "Devil Woman" is Patricia Matthews one of the sisters of the late Denise Matthews AKA "Vanity".
Really, until now I never knew that Vanity had any sisters. But I had never given it any thought either. Anyway that is some interesting info. I will have to rewind back and see how much they favor.
@@beaujac311 And she appeared in a number of rock music videos in the 80's and 90's and dated Eddie Murphy.
@@justindenney-hall5875 The thing is I probably saw her on The Arsenio Hall Show when she was on there with Vanity. I just looked at that segment and it looked familiar. I probably have forgotten it.
You in beautiful curly hair is so smart. You always figure out things before most other reactors. Both of you - keep up the great work! 👍😊
You mentioned The Lion King, well, the King (James Earl Jones) and Queen (Madge Sinclair) in this movie also played Simba's parents (King Mufasa and Queen Sarabi) in The Lion King animated movie.
Need to watch trading places so you can see the connection.
Mr. Sol Glo throwing the milkshake on Akeem was hilariously funny. Akeem got to see what it felt like to be a nobody. That was a great scene by both actors. He threw the milkshake like it was the proper way of disposing of it. And you could see in Akeem's demeanor how small that act made him feel.
Nice reaction. So Eddy managed to make you laugh after all ;-)
My favorite Eddie Murphy movie growing up, next it’s tie between The Golden Child and Beverly Hills Cop 2, and my guilty pleasure is The Adventures of Pluto Nash!!
Great job once again Ladies. 👍🇺🇸🌹🌹
I had to laugh when you guys kinda apologized for not laughing much. It’s involuntary, these guys are great together you can’t help but laugh. Glad you enjoyed it so much.
The burger phone was the best, I wish they had a cell phone version. I’d get a flip phone if it was a slider.
Sweet Ladies,
Watch the Full Credits, You Must Find Out About the SOUP..! MAZEL TOV ✡️
McDowell (aka John Amos) and Queen Eolion (I don't know the name of the actress) played Kunta Kinte and his wife in the legendary iconic Tv Series "Roots"😂
The Queen was played by the late Madge Sinclair. James Earl Jones played their descendant, Roots author Alex Haley in Roots: the Next Generations.
@@BrotherDerrick3X Right, I remember Earl Jones as Alex Haley interviewing Marlon Brandon playing the leader of the nazi party
20:51 "When you think of _garbage,_ think of Akeem."
How's _that_ for a slogan?
You two need to go back and watch you reactions. Never laugh, huh? You laughed a million times. I’m so glad you enjoyed it.
BTW, I always love your reactions. Truly bright reactors. You to are never lost and always “get it”.
Such lovely ladies! 🥰🥰🥰
Looking forward to your next reaction😊
What a testiment to the acting skills and make-up artists, that these girls didn't even notice how many roles Eddie and Arsenio played in the film.
13:14 "We will take the room."
This room is a _crime_ scene. _Analysts_ should be pouring over it. Now, obviously, those analysts are not _done,_ or it wouldn't have the _markings_ of a crime scene anymore.
In the Beginning of The movie The Kid Sitting In the Barbers chair Was Cuba Gooding Jr
This was like the culmination of Eddie's box office dominance in the 80s. 48 Hrs and Beverly Hills Cop, some would say, go along with this as kind of the Holy Trinity of Eddie's 80s flicks. Trading Places was really more of a Landis thing, though.
The Golden Child should be in there.
@@chuckwilliams6261 Excellent nomination -- my buddy who was the most hardcore Eddie Murphy fan liked that one a lot, but I only saw it once. He had the VHS. ;)
Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall in Harlem Nights
Hooray! You both laughed!
Correction...Daryll the boyfriend doesn't own SloFlo the Company....His Parents do. So in that term...Daryll is not the one that is rich in that sense....its is Parents...whether its his father that owns it or his mother. The movie didnt made it clear....but, yeah. Awesome Reaction tho.😊😊😊😊
I love you guys videos. You two are so sweet it comes thur the screen
That’s king Willie from predator too!! Presenting his daughter at the start 😅
Here is the inside joke: in the 1976 mini-series about slavery, John Amos (Mr. McDowell) was married to Madge Sinclair (the Queen). John Amos played the adult Kunta Kinte who, as a young man was kidnapped in Africa and sold into slavery in America. he married Belle, who was played by Madge Sinclair. in the mini-series, it followed the family from slavery to freedom after the Civil War. James Earl Jones (who played the king) was in the sequel mini-series - which traced the family from the end of the original series all the way to the descendant who traced his ancestry back to Africa. James Earl Jones played the author of the book written about the family, Alex Haley. the name of the book, and the mini-series, is Roots.
Roots is one enormous lie 😂😂😂
Not related to this movie, but an interesting story, Sarah Culberson was born in West Virginia and adopted by a professor at West Virginia University and his wife. It wasn't until she became an adult that she learned that she was a Sierra Leonean princess.
Hey guys great reaction! I discovered your channel last month and subscribed, you guys vibe off each other pretty well. The father was a bit too flirtatious LOL as far as the last scene, the queen did look at him first. And the King already admitted he sleeps with the bathers, so I wouldn't be surprised if she does her thing as well 🤣
So, they actually got married and have a few kids, who are all grown by now. At the time they bought a nice house down by the "pocket area" which has a few gated communities and by the Sacramento river. She was home most of the time, but Eddie was always in Los Angeles making movies. So, they split up. More recently Eddie used to own a big mansion up by Folsom Lake. It was about 10,000 sq.ft. Eddie didn't spend very much time there and that house was recently sold also. Yeah, nice house. Grand foyé. Chandeliers. Large pool. Nice. All true. 🤓
Eddie and arsenio are all the characters in the barber shop and church! Recognize the 2 old guys from Trading Places! Cuba Gooding Jr getting his hair cut! Samuel Jackson is the robber! White guy Louie Anderson working the counter, one of the funniest comedians ever! The dad was the dad in TV show Good times! The king is James Earl Jones, voice of Darth Vader!
Apparently the kung does have enough money to buy off his daughter
"Trading Places" (1983). Now you have to watch that one next! Eddie Murphy, Dan Aykroyd, Jamie Lee Curtis.
I see you just did. Great, right?
I had no idea that Eddie Murphy and Aresenio Hall palyed the two old guys in the barber shop!
Hey ladies, let me let you in on something. Laughter is the second most thing that fills God's heart with love...Singing is first!
I always like to see people from another country watching movies like this. Thanks for the reaction!
I appreciate and always love learning different life styles. I enjoyed you all reactions.
Usually watching Trading Places before Coming to America helps to catch the connection in the scene with the two homeless men. But still you should go back and watch Trading Places.
1:14 Screw Alarm Clocks, Orchestras Are The New Way To Wake Up Too.
Another good reaction. Subbed. May I make some possible movies for you to react to? Uncle Buck, Breakfast Club, Caddyshack, The Exorcist, The Mummy, Planes, Trains, and Automobiles, The Terminator I & II, Rocky I-IV, Jurassic Park I and II, and Silence of the Lambs. You'd probably love all of them.
Virtual hug 💗
This two old homeless guys are the superrich guys from the movie Trading Places, also with Eddi Murphy.
Glad to see the movie put smiles on your faces! You should watch The Hangover. That’s another great comedy!
20:33 like a Jamaican woman would? Yeah, I said it. 😂 (I just turned up the heat in the kitchen).
Another brilliant 80's movie, Eddie Murphy plays I think 4 or 5 parts in this movie. Another brilliant Eddie Murphy movie is Metro, and a brilliant James Earl Jones movie, is Best of the Best. 2 that you should watch.
Akeem, Luke Skywalker and Simba the lion all have the same dad. It’s a complicated family
Taste the soup. Ok where's the spoon? aaaahhhhhaa! Ahhhhaaaa. Ahhh what do you know from funny, ya bastid!
Which is better Zamunda, Wakanda or Pride Rock?
Those homeless old men are from another movie with Eddie Murphy called Trading Places
Oh by the way girls those two Old Bums getting the money from Akeem(Eddie Murphy) you should react to the movie Trading Places A Movie where Eddie Murphy Plays a bum and Dan Ackroyd Plays a rich man and someone in the middle they find out they’ve been tricked and during the movie you’ll realize their both connected then you will realize you two should have seen trading places first then coming to america last
The two bums are from the movie Trading Places with Eddie Murphy, yawl need to see that to get it.
Also, those two bums on the street were from the movie trading places with Eddie Murphy lol
Great reaction, except that you talked over the 'taste the soup' joke there at the end. Hope you rewatch that part soon!
SEXUAL CHOCOLATE!
@jonny5586 "That boys good!"
6:53 She's your Queen to be 😂😂😂😅😊
13:39 Love The Upbeat And Positivity Akeem Is Letting Out.
3:36 A year since he's grown the mustache :))
The makeup for this film was overseen by the legendary Rick Baker. Baker and Eddie Murphy would go on to collaborate on several more projects. I am a professional makeup artist, myself (nowhere NEAR that level; local stuff. But I know what to appreciate!!) The makeup for Eddie as Saul- the old Jewish white guy in the barber shop- is one of my top favorite makeups of all time. Just fantastic.
10:45 Very Fitting, A Soon To Be King Going To Queens NY.
I don't know if y'all have watched/reacted to "Harlem Nights" yet, but if not, it would be dope to see you do that one.
I've seen this movie a hundred times. I just noticed that McDowell touched the patties with dirty hands after you pointed it out.
I cannot un-see this now.
Same 🤣😂🤣
James Earl Jones: the voice of Darth Vader.
there's a sequel you guys should also react to!
A surprising gem!! 🥰🎉🎉🎉
Still one of my favorites. Still haven't seen part 2 yet.
Eddie Murphy was a big star in those day. Huge.
