    That (2) effect is a nod to the manga, in the manga Kaiba stole grandpa Solomon's/Sugoroku's Blue Eyes when Yugi brought it to school, Kaiba then replaced it with a counterfeit. Yugi realized that Kaiba switched Blue Eyes and confronted him about it, that's when Yami/Atem showed up and challenged Kaiba to a duel. Yami was doing pretty good in their duel (considering Kaiba was already the Duel Monsters World Champion), when backed into a corner Kaiba summoned Solomon's/Sugoroku's Blue Eyes but the dragon refused to obey Kaiba and disintegrate itself, Yugi then summoned it with Monster Reborn, defeated Kaiba, gave a speech about the Heart of the Cards and inflicted the Illusion of Death penalty game on Kaiba.

    I'm honestly just so in love with the theming and gameplay of the Millennium archetype, it's been years since I found an archetype so interesting - I will 100% play it on release even if it's not optimal. I just think they are so rad.

    The Exodia cards genuinely seem interesting and I am hoping to get my hands on them when Infinite Forbidden is released next month. They also work as an engine in the new White Woods archetype that I plan on playing and are in the same set. Infinite Forbidden is the first core set in a while that I plan on investing in since it has a lot that I like.

    *_*Blue-Eyes' 2nd effect*_*
    He never read the manga >w<
    But yeah, this Blue-Eyes was played during Yugi's/Atem's first duel with Kaiba which inspired the whole bring monsters to life thing as well as Penalty Games that Kaiba would later emulate in vaious ways. If it wasn't for this moment in time, the game would have remained just being a normal table top game in their world.

    I can only imagine at one of those character duels at a Yugioh event, when this card gets released in English I can imagine an interaction between Yugi and Kaiba to go like this.
    Yugi:... You may have me in somewhat of a corner, Kaiba, it's time for you to face a familiar foe or friend in this case, I sacrifice my Dark Magician and Dark Magician Girl to summon BLUE EYES OF THE HEART!
    Kaiba: T..that's impossible! I MADE SURE OF IT THAT I DESTROYED THAT 4th BLUE EYES!
    Yugi: You did, but over time as much as it pained my grandfather. He went to Pegasus and asked him if he could repair the card. While he couldn't, he made this card in it's stead.
    Kaiba: Pegasus... resurrecting a card from the dead, while I am heavily annoyed at this revelation...I can respect this at the same time.
    Yugi: Because it's a Blue Eyes White Dragon isn't it?
    Kaiba: Yes, it's exactly because it's a Blue Eyes White Dragon in a different name.

    I don't know how I feel about this kind of crossover card. It's really cool but it just feels like it should've been a sub archetype of its own, that way you could splash some other blue eyes cards in with some other millennium cards to make like a hybrid or pile deck.

    • @dudeguy8686
      @dudeguy8686 Před 2 měsíci +2

      A hybrid between the two should be possible, with Melody + Bingo capable of searching either side, but Millenium Ankh needs those 5 garnets, and Blue-Eyes has plenty of ways to brick already..
      Would be very tough to ratio, but i'm definitely going to try when it eventually comes to MD

      @dudeguy8686 Před 2 měsíci

      It's certainly no huge issue to play around, for sure. But it is a 1-card boss monster combo + that once-per-duel disruption.
      Needing multiple outs to a single card is generally bad math to go against, but that's honestly nothing new to Yugioh, at this point.

      you don't have to summon this blue-eyes to and Ankh but Ankh gets shuffled back into your deck once you've used it to summon The Unstoppable Exodia Incarnate, so that's why you want 3 copies of this blue-eyes

      The card isn't a normal reference to Kaiba's Blue-Eyes, it's a reference to Grandpa's blue eyes and the last arc of the anime. The theme for the Millennium archetype is that they are retrains from grandpa's cards - and the cards from an old game. I don't really see why you're upset over this.
