Nice! I have the same kayak and love it. So many options, only draw back is its heavy. Glad I'm not the only one that flipped around the rear storage hatch to open away from seat 😁
Vinny Brennan yeah the kayak is heavy even without all the gear i had trouble loading and unloading it by myself and decided i needed a trailer for it and since i was going to use a trailer with it i decided to add a trolling motor and all the extra gear
David Lipe thank you. I plan on upgrading the trolling motor to a digital and more powerful one next summer. I also plan on adding some more rod holders and a humminbird helix 7 fish finder
G'day that's one of the better setups I've seen on net great work I d love to set that same kayak up but they don't sell them here in Australia thanks for same great ideas 👍🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🎣
Do you think they would let you take one as care on lol I'll have to try to get sameone at basepro to return my emails so I can work out a way to get these awesome kayaks down under here for use to on same our fish and water way
Dang I put one battery and motor on mine and think it's overloaded with a group 27 battery. You got so much stuff it probably sits super low Forgot to say toy raised the seat too
I dont recommend these LEDs anymore they didn't hold up to the weather. If I were to do it again I'd spend the extra money and buy them from yak attack
Very cool kayak, doing my research to do my own mods when I buy. The one thing I though that could help and look cool would be to use the fender stratocaster output jack plates for a cable recess instead of molding the plastic into a volcano?
I would like to know what type of control switch you are using to control fwd speed . I had a Sneak Peak Kayak and my rheostat switch that controlled my trollingmotor has burned out and I need to replace this switch . I have a fibreglass kayak and one like sold at bass pro shop and would like to rig them with a trollingmotor like seen above . I need a Switch 1, 2 , 3 fwd and reverse . where did you get your switch .
I am currently torn between a kayak, and a jon boat. I see this setup and don't get me wrong its killer, but I think a jon boat at this point would be way more practical as far as launching the boat. Trailer and you don't really have to take your gear out of the boat. How do you launch, and is it a hassle?
I want to see it in action and see what you would change and do differently. Also, when you use this in the rain, has it affected any of the electronics? I was also wondering how many amps/ volts does the led lights, trolling motor, etc draw? Just wondering so I know exactly what to look forward to and how much run time. You did a nice job customizing this kayak but what flaws does it have from attempting to customize it? Just wondering man.
Phones doing a good job. Nice job on your yak. Interesting how shallow the yak is. I've got a 120 AutoPilot.Do you know what the weight was on just your hull and seat?
Alex Head I used this fuse block www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000THQ0CQ/ref=yo_ii_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1 to distribute the power from the battery to the power cord leaving the battery box. I used a 7 pin trailer hitch light plug from the battery box cord to the kayak so I can remove the battery box. and from the receiver plug in the kayak it goes to the lights and fish finder
also I have severe back pain from military duty what do U suggest to use to slide n and out of truck fish saltwater flats and freshwater rivers thanks Shawn
Wonder why no one who mounts a troll moto to their yaks. Don't mention once that is done, it must be registered just like boat (At least here in Texas ). Since it now has a motor on it
Bro, where are you located at??? Not your address but general location? If I’m close I’d love to come see this in person because this video is waaaay to fast to get good insight
Where did you get the plug ins & cabling you have to go from between the battery to things you have recessed into the kayak (where i assume you have all your wiring/dist cap/etc inside)
Jamie McCallie the weight limit is 350lbs I'm not sure what all the gear weighs but with me and the gear I'm probably at the weight limit maybe even a little over
Nice Yak Bro! I have a setup like this on a Field and Stream. I like how you ran your light setup. My question is, how do they hold up on the water? No electrical issues? Ive used these lights at home and wont mind adding them on a new yak that im about to buy. Buying the same yak you have today.
The led light stripes didn't hold up the the weather they quit working in less then a year. If I was do do it again I'd spend the extra money and buy plastic encased led lights like they sell at yak attack
@@nelsenoutdoors4731 thanks thats exactly what i was thinking. looks great though. what type battery do you use? i bought a big marine battery thats super heavy.
Manchew I have a boat trailer i converted for it. my ascend fs128t was heavy and awkward even before I put a trolling motor on it. I think it weighs around a 100lbs without anything in or on it that is one reason I put a trolling motor on it cause I don't have a truck just an Suv so no mater what I was going to need a trailer
nelson outdoors= how did you install your kill switch? i am buying my ascend in a month and really like your motor setup is there anyway you vould send me your plans about how you did that??
brian miller I don't have any build plans for the electrical setup I just did it all off the top of my head. I used this safety switch www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00DH3QHBI/ref=yo_ii_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1. I used the switch to power the coil of this battery disconnect www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01GMPPYYI/ref=yo_ii_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1. so the positive wire from the battery goes to one side of the battery disconnect and to one side of the safty switch the the other side of the switch goes to the positive side of the coil. the other side of the disconnect goes to the motor. also the negative from the battery goes to the negative on the coil and the negative to the motor. so when the coil has power the trolling motor works. but when the safety switch gets pulled then it shuts off power to the coil which shuts off power to the trolling motor. I hope this helps.
How did your yak float with the weight I guess with the batteries up front I have the same yak looking into a battery for my motor all day how many hours can you stay out with that big battery is it worth the extra weight ? Your insure would be helpful thanks CATCH.PHOTO.RELEASE
Raymond Suckow I've only had it out in calm weather and it did really good no problems with the weight what so ever. I don't think I'd trust it in really choppy conditions. the longest I've been out is around 5 hours and that's mostly slow trolling around the banks casting for bass and trout but I still had over half battery life left.
apexx bassin it's pretty stable I'm able to stand in it, but I don't like to cause I personally don't have very good balance. it's rated for 350lbs max capacity. however I know with me, the trolling motor, the batteries, and all the gear I'm probably exceeding the max capacity by around 30-50lbs and it still does good. I've only had it out in good calm weather I'm not sure how well it would do in choppy water
Cole Hunsucker the factory adhesive sucks, I tried using double sided automotive trim tape but it started to come off so I've been using super glue gel to glue it down where ever it starts to come off
skyphantom29 I've never had a problem with it. I've never even come close to sinking. but I haven't had it our in real choppy water. I've only used it on calm lakes
so you're telling me you did all this to a kayak before you ever even put it in the water? you have the wrong type of boat for the wants that you have.

This is about the cleanest install I think I’ve seen...
This thing looks like a one man covert ops personal assault vehicle
Aight this is the setup I want I've decided. Sick.

Impressive set up. Very well thought out and executed. Thanks for sharing.
Zuker Gill thank you
Great job on your mods!!!! I've got a motorized FS128T w/ foot steering too and it's the only way to go. I love the feel and handling.
David Lipe thank you. I plan on upgrading the trolling motor to a digital and more powerful one next summer. I also plan on adding some more rod holders and a humminbird helix 7 fish finder

man, you did a great job on that kayak👍👏. I also like your garage and the pick up
redchevy82 thanks. the truck is a 1956 dodge with a gen1 392 hemi. maybe next summer I'll do a video on it
Great..Like The Led Very Nice When On Night Fishing
I dont recommend these LEDs anymore they didn't hold up to the weather. If I were to do it again I'd spend the extra money and buy them from yak attack
Love you truck, want one like that myself
need propulsion switch for trolling motor wired to bad rheostat . need to setup pulley system to control direction with foot pedals
Nice I am as well. I'm buying a 128t I'm going to borrow some of your ideas
Just dont buy the led strip lights they didn't last long. Spend the money and buy the ones from yak attack
Sounds like your local to Holton Kansas. I have an ascend as well and am in Horton. Nice work.
George Wingo I live by Des Moines Iowa
One word for you dude ....'Nespresso'!
Go for it...
Best set up I have seen
that's was a awesome set up 👍👍👍
Victor kayak thank you
OMG I'm so jealous, man that's premium kayak! Do you have tutorials or sites for doing all this diy?
Dawrongguy thank you. Sorry No tutorials I just planed it out in my head and built it
Nelsen Outdoors what about site with instructions?
Dawrongguy no instruction site that I know of.
You must have a real knack for working with electrical components!
Very cool kayak, doing my research to do my own mods when I buy. The one thing I though that could help and look cool would be to use the fender stratocaster output jack plates for a cable recess instead of molding the plastic into a volcano?
Johnny Jannotti I have no clue on that. I've never seen one. but if you think it will work give it a shot. be sure to let people know how it woks out

Sweet kayak man good job!!
dam bro got it hooked up clean
Wow, awesome job!!!
Very good video
MG Outdoors thank you
Thanks if I have questions I might reach out if you don't mind
That is one sweet ride.

I subscribed to your channel.

Did you build the motor mount or buy...love the set up!
88elmoomoo I made it out of stainless steel that I welded and then painted black
I figured you did, I've searched the whole internet looking for something like that..thanks alot!
Can you explain how you connected your lights and fish finder to your batteries. I'm curious how to wire multiple things from a 12v battery
Alex Head I used this fuse block www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000THQ0CQ/ref=yo_ii_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1 to distribute the power from the battery to the power cord leaving the battery box. Thanks... looks like you are in IA
Yes I'm located in Iowa

Comacozy I used trailer hitch plugs which you can buy at any auto parts store
How Much does it cost the register your kayak for the Troll Motor ?
What gauge wire did you use to extend the stock wires from the motor? Did you use the 7 point trailer plugs for this?
How many inches below the water line is the motor?
very nice rig
CXENTE thank you
Awesome setup man! What size wire did u use to run to ur batteries/ switches
Can you show how the lights and battery go into your hull
I have to buy this one
hopefully you have a trailer ..very nice tho
Yep I built a trailer for it
What kind of motor can you put on that kayak just wondering if you can put a 3.5 hp mercury is it 14-15-16 ft
This kayak is 12 feet long. I highly doubt you could put a gas powered motor on it. At least I wouldn't
Awesome set up. What year is that model. I love all the flat space on the deck. Most other models have to much stuff in the way.
Pete Pruett I bought the kayak used so I'm not positive but I think it's either a 2014 or 2015
The Ascend FS128T has factory tracks on the side. Was your rod holders comatable with their track or did you replace??
Larry Lyon this year model didn't come with tracks. That is why I had to add them
looks great! what is the kayak weight limit? and how much does it weight ? for carrying.
Jamie McCallie the weight limit is 350lbs I'm not sure what all the gear weighs but with me and the gear I'm probably at the weight limit maybe even a little over
Where did you buy your switches/name of them?
Nice Yak. I have one 2014 and need to set it up more elaborate etc and seal those hatches.
I bought almost everything on Amazon
Hello. How do you did you motor set up
How did you run the wire from battery to troller motor and what did you use to mount the troller motor
LittleMan Burt I just extended the stock wires for the switch and power wires. the mount I custom made myself
That is sweet!
Thanks
Where did you get the LED lights and switchs?

@@nelsenoutdoors4731 thanks thats exactly what i was thinking. looks great though. what type battery do you use? i bought a big marine battery thats super heavy.
@@kevinlong4750 I used a small deep cycle marine battery but I'm guessing it still weighed around 50-60lbs
How did u get the LED strip to stick... I have the same set up but I could not get them to stick
Addicted Angler I used double sided automotive trim adhesive tape and gel super glue
Can you add links to where you got all of you accessories?
that is a sweet yak drool....
OutlawYaker 209 thanks
Nelsen Outdoors what is the setup you used for the trolling motor
Sweet yak brother
Thanks
What kind f switch did you use on the trolling motor??
The original switch. I just extend the wiring and used a stove knob instead of the original handle
Sweet yak mods!!
Noob Slayer thank you
I like your speed control switch, What kind is that and where might I find one?
Db1Rider it's the same switch that was in the handle of the trolling motor. I just relocated it and bought a stove knob to put on it
I was doing some research and that's what I came up with. thank you
how did you set up your trolling motor i just bought my 128 and want to add one.
brian miller I'll post a video explaining it more in detail. but first I need to have some extra time to take the kayak out of winter storage.
I'm guessing with all that mods u could've got your self a hobie or a native slayer for the same price
Little Fairies I bought almost everything used and installed it all myself I have less then a $1000 in the entire setup including trailer and kayak
How you get that thing in the water? Looks heavy and awkward
Manchew I have a boat trailer i converted for it. my ascend fs128t was heavy and awkward even before I put a trolling motor on it. I hope this helps.
Yes this actually helps tremendously thank you
Do you have any problems with the weight limit?
Ronald Keith not so far but I've only had it out 4 times so far
what was the model of the trolling motor you are using where to buy?
Jay Unknown I'm not sure of the model i bought it used. it's an older 35lb thrust Minn Kota trolling motor
Why is the steering yoke so high on the motor shaft?
Guide504 so the prop depth can be adjusted down lower in the water if needed

you are a lucky man but got nothing on my galaxy cruz 😆
Could you give be the blue print on your trolling motor set up.. Thanks in Advance
TattooGuru318 I don't have a blueprint for the wiring. the only thing I did was just extend the wires and relocate the speed control switch
How did u attach the neon lights on the exterior
SportsProtv they are led lights and I used automotive trim double sided tape.
how stable is this kayak and how well does it hold wieght?

Where did you get the switch?
John Stephens it's the stock switch from the trolling motor. I just made a custome panel to hold it
very cool. do you know the total weight?
Drew Drummond I'm guessing between 150lbs-200lbs
Dose the old Dodge pick-up run?
Yep has a 392 hemi from a 57 new Yorker
Hey boss, I bought your kayak in this video and i got some questions. Any chance i can hit you up on fb or something?
can u drop the link to the lights u used
Cole Hunsucker here you www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00U5Y24QO/ref=yo_ii_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Cole Hunsucker the factory adhesive sucks, I tried using double sided automotive trim tape but it started to come off so I've been using super glue gel to glue it down where ever it starts to come off
I'd be surprised if that doesn't sink lol. 3 batteries, a cooler, all the gear, and a 200lb body....
skyphantom29 I've never had a problem with it. I've never even come close to sinking. but I haven't had it our in real choppy water. I've only used it on calm lakes
I fail to understand painting a cooler black.
Sojourner 2016 same reason you would paint anything. To make it look better
I"m more concerned with a cooler staying cool. Black gets hot as hell in the sun.
Sojourner 2016 I've never had problem with any extra heat from it being painted black over the stock red color.
so you're telling me you did all this to a kayak before you ever even put it in the water? you have the wrong type of boat for the wants that you have.
Can you do a fs 128 t update
Israel Bland I'll do an update in April when I start using it again
Nelsen Outdoors ok I just bought one Fs128t looking at different mods to do
Are you interested in selling that pickup truck
Thomas Bridges no interest at all in selling
Engineer?
Nope I just like to build things
pontoons
Fuck me it’s a disco kayak
should just got a boat lol
