- Still under covid restrictions to stay local I decided to try Dumbarton at the River Leven, with a contingency to try Clydebank if the fishing was poor. March and April are poor months generally in the Clyde but I had no option but to try a local venue.
Target species was flounder, but this time of year can throw up the odd sea trout too. But who'd have guessed the fishing would be that poor!! I've aptly named this video DumBARREN and ClydeBLANK.... Roll on the summer months!! Tight lines.
That's where I'm from and stay mate. Clydebank boy staying in Dumbarton! Good to see people fishing local on CZcams. Tight lines 🤝🎣🏴
Hope you enjoyed it John. Would have been nice to have actually caught a fish though! Hopefully will be fishing a few more around the Clyde soon, and get them posted up. Cheers
@@thewrightangle5317 i know mate I've only fished the Clyde twice and caught a sea trout and whiting. First season as a permit holder on the leven as we speak trying for my first salmon.
Hi mate, I’ve just found your channel trawling about. Good to see some local marks being fished from the shore. I was at that second mark a few days ago Nov 22 and had a blankety blank. All the best Douglas👍
Cheers Dougie, watched loads of your videos mate, helped me out so much chosing my kayak and getting started on it. Loved the Luce Bay sessions. Looking forward so seeing some more when you get out again. Cheers Chad 😁👍
@@thewrightangle5317 Hi Chad, what kayak did you get, I noticed it was a pedal drive?
Looked at a couple but went with the hobie outback, it's an excellent kayak. It's a bit of an older one though but was in fantastic condition. Looking farward to getting back out on it in the spring time 👍
In all my years of staying in Glasgow, I've never fished the clyde but I have heard of people catching over the years.
Yeah I've had plenty fish out of the Clyde over the years. It wouldn't have been my first choice as it was a bit out of season being in March. But the hand was forced due to travel restrictions at that point so I thought I'd give it a go... Basically just drowned a few worms! Haha
Tried the opposite side. Bailiff pulled me up and moved me on. Sea fishing gear for sea fish, but apparently still need a permit
Hmmmmm sounds BS to me just chancing their luck moving you on. You don't need a permit for that area as long as you aren't targeting game fish! Also as long as you haven't breached any conditions of your right to roam, I think I would have stood my ground with the bailiff. Hope it doesn't put you off trying again, tight lines 👍
Any luck under the Erskine bridge at bowling side
This time of year is probably the best bet. Plenty of small flounder to crab and worm baits. Might pick up the odd codling and coalfish too 👍
