- This video was reuploaded because I made a huge editing mistake that I wanted to fix. Also, I'm really sorry about the quality guys, CZcams won't process it in HD :(
Anyway here's a ride on the Confederation LRT line from Rideau to St Laurent stations
Sorry about the reupload! Had to edit a mistake I made where I reused a clip twice! Took me a long time to fix it too. Also CZcams couldn't process the damn thing in 1080p but I don't mind 720p. More Ottawa vids to come
It's alright man, it happens! I still enjoyed the video!
Yes, the line 1 trains all use ATC. The operators are mainly just there in case of emergency. When running normally they just punch a button to let the system know the train is ready to leave the station.
Fun fact. St. Laurent station used to be a big OC Transpo bus stop on their transitway before the LRT conversion
I filmed a video of that station, it's up on my channel
Lincoln Fields was bigger than St. Laurent.
Very cool, I remember riding the buses through that tunnel
That's right, it was the Transitway back then!
0:43 gotta love those Ottawa bike lanes. Especially how it just crosses the road
Hope you're having fun in Ottawa!
The people at the platforms aren't guards so much as guides. They help people figure out where they're going and make sure they're not in danger before the train leaves. When the system first opened they didn't have whistles, but with Ottawa commuters being used to buses there were a lot of issues with people trying to hold doors open, and that caused delays, safety issues, and damage to trains.
Ah so that's why! Of course, the LRT has still been experiencing maintenance problems I've heard. It's two years old already!
Yo, I just want to say I totally feel you about the whole "no recording" thing. It's crazy that you dealt with this in August of 2021, because I had to go through something similar literally a month later; I don't know what was going on with people in Ottawa around this time. I get that some people don't want to be recorded, but ultimately, if you're in a public space, you can expect security cameras around you at all times, and you can bet your behind no cop is gonna care about your consent to be recorded when it's literally being used as evidence.
Long story short, I'm sorry the driver told you to "turn it off." It must have not felt nice.
Once again, it’s a public transit system, you have no expectation of privacy in public and the driver pretty much infringed upon my rights to do so.
And yes I try not to point the camera at any staff member as well as other people even do you are in public, it’s my way of respecting others
Great tour video of Ottawa. Very nice city.
It’s nice and quiet there not too busy!! Enjoy 😊
Judging off this video, already can tell most of the cycling infrastructure is better than Toronto's!
Just imagine Toronto having safe infrastructure for cyclists....
@@AlexGetsAroundTO The best dream for cyclists and E Scooter/Bike riders. Not having to deal with cars would the best thing ever. I couldn't imagine all the happiness if Toronto got infrastructure like Amsterdam's cycling infrastructure
Bruh I just want E-Scooters like Lime & Bird to operate in Toronto 😭😭😭😭
@@dmann5938 Why???? They should only let privately owned E scooters ride around Toronto so they don't have to deal with the mess like in other cities. People wont be destroying them if they owned their own E scooter as it's their own E scooter, not some ride share one.
So is this what Eglinton Crosstown Line is supposed to be like?
Not exactly
@@AlexGetsAroundTO Will similar type of trains (because it’s an LRT)
Well on the Finch West line they’ll be getting those same trains, Eglinton line is getting the Flexity Freedoms
@@AlexGetsAroundTO Oh ok (also I swear I feel like an idiot, because I said “Is this what Eglinton looks like and I have been trying to find videos of the progress, in the last 26 months)
Have a great time in Ottawa!
Thanks Sanjay!
Its stupid that people care so much about being recorded, if you don’t like it people keep your mouth closed he’s doing it for better reasons then to just get you on camera
Freakin’ right!
I enjoyed the video. 👍👍👍👍👍 Every transit video I watch the stations and rail cars are cleaner than New York City's . Have ever thought about getting eyeglasses with the camera built in? That way they won't know you have a camera.
Not really, I'm not even afraid of filming anywhere in public
I went to Ottawa before
These trains almost sound like the Scarborough RT
I agree
Why the hell did the driver tell you to turn your cam off? Your allowed to cam. People need to mind their own business.
Of course! This is a public area, lots of people come to take pictures and videos on the system! Second time it’s ever happened to me on public transit but luckily I was not being harassed by him
@@AlexGetsAroundTO Ya - I had this happen many years ago. Eventually got a written apology from the director of transit services for over-zealous operators making up rules!
@@toddoddity3976 Just one of these things that is wrong with public transit systems in big cities these days!
@@AlexGetsAroundTO North American transit is not good. You are clearly a tourist in Ottawa and they are telling you to shut off your camera in a public area? This would never happen in Europe.
Rideu station has the longest thing going + Rideu is a bad spot especially at night
The worst Mcdonald’s in Ontario used to be right next to the station
@@AlexGetsAroundTO I know it because I live in ottawa mate
It was dead because 2021 was still in pandemic times
And everyone was depressed at the time too
Learn to film discreetly, then the personel wont be jackasses. And when they do tell you to quit filming, file a complaint but dont argue.
Why would he ask you to turn it off? He cannot actually. You should have continued with it and ignore him. He would have been ridiculed if he did that here in Toronto. All in all however a very well made post. 👏👏👏
Thanks, clearly the operator doesn't know that filming is INDEED allowed on any transit system in North America practically
@@AlexGetsAroundTO next time just refuse it and ignore him.
