    Full episode description:
In the 1980s, there were three residential studios that were among the greatest the world has ever known - A.I.R. Montserrat, Le Studio, outside of Montreal, and Compass Point Studios in The Bahamas. These three incredible studios all had several things in common. They were all in idyllic and secluded locations. They all helped to create the music that defined an era. And they were all ultimately abandoned, with only the ghosts of the music and memories that were made there, echoing within their forgotten and decaying walls. In this - the second of two episodes - we tell the tale of Compass Point Studios and speak with Terry Manning, the man who ran it for almost 20 years, about some of the many artists who worked there, the music they made, and the shocking story of why it too became a ghost studio. Welcome to the Wax Audio Show…

Though the reasons are different fro it's demise, people who love certain bands or recording have attachments to studios it seems. Le Studio In Quebec was finally abandoned and demolished but there were years of people trying to or hoping to salvage it. Ace In the Hole as well. Whenan era come to end thats it, memories is what you have. 🍻

I visited the Bahamas a few times, and I can tell you that although it's a beautiful country, despite all the income from tourism, the locals live in a third world environment and economy, It's a glorified third world banana republic with an impoverished population that is growing in numbers and resentment. The locals will never enjoy the hotels or the accommodations afforded to foreign tourists. And it would only take one bad recession for the accumulated anger to show its ugly face. Desperate people will attack and rob anything and anyone suspected to be better off than them. The inherent corruption in that and other similar countries also have kept those people poor for generations, even centuries, and extreme poverty will drive people to vote for a communist or support a revolution or coup. I am amazed that this studio lasted as long as it did, but all good things come to an end. I'm definitely not traveling ever again to the Bahamas.

Wow dude. As a local, I wonder who you're referring to when you say "the locals." And where do you get the idea that "an impoverished population is growing in numbers and resentment"? My guess is that you perceived what you already believed, as opposed to honest assessing the Bahamian population. I strongly support your decision not to return to the country.
