Launching any bike under 3 seconds involves some feathering of throttle to keep wheel down and rear from lighting up so 2.75 is mighty! Interesting that a few stock bikes, some 20 years back, were tested sub 3 secs including a few dukes and the grunty rsv mille even though they’re way down on power from todays beasts. Everyone should own Busa once in their biking life!
@@xpanco you got it. R1 mk1 was evil handling though. Zx12r more a softer sports tourer but plenty quick. Busa a rocketship. But the blackbird never really appealed to me. Much. The hidden hero was the sv1000 which was also sub3secs but the mille I think was the best handling of the sub 3 sec bunch back then and still cuts the mustard today. My dream garage includes the Busa, the Rsvr Mille gen1, the pinagali V2, gsa1200, Mt10sp and a few others including the new gixxer. All very different but all awesome bikes.
Hey Chris , great vid I’m really enjoying the series and I think I know exactly where you’re headed with your Busa - mods wise …. I have had 3 Busa’s ( all Gen1 ) the last one while racing my SBK back in the day. I modded my 2002 Blue Silver one with Yoshi Race exhaust - Tri oval Suzuka spec + remap etc ( 180-ish rwhp), ohlins front fork internals 1.0kgsprings and valving, stock rear shock but revalved, shimmed and ohlins 8.5kg spring,Sato rear sets and went 2 teeth bigger on rear sprocket ( a bit more aggressive on the gas 👌)…. BUT the BEST thing I did was fit shorter swingarm dogbones ( rear links) they were made by Mettisse and were 7mm shorter Centre to Centre, this took around 25mm out of the wheelbase and lifted the rear a similar margin, I’m 178cm ( 5’10 ) and would be on tippy toes at the lights. This did not reduce the Busa-ness in the slightest🥰 it just confirmed it is a BIG GSXR…. Where I’d do 1min38’s at Phillip Island on my race bike ( mid pack Aus SBK pace ) I’d do 1min43 on the Busa and not deck anything out on ground clearance . It was brilliant …..

I'm a Busa boy finally but my 2022 ZX14r with just slip- ons eats my 2022 Hayabusa with full M4 exhaust! I'll get the Busa ECU flashed soon but for now I see the difference between the Busa and ZX14r. But again the ZX14r is 1440cc. I love both equally! I was in the market for the H2R but asked myself would I rather have 2 bikes instead of one. I think I made the right choice.

What a great way to greet the morning, here on the US West Coast. I think your subjective before and after comparison is actually more important than the data, because you can tell how the throttle response differs in more granular detail than raw 0-60 or quarter mile times do, especially since ambient air temperature, humidity, and wind strength and direction all affect the data-driven results. Now, if I heard the intro correctly, I need to grab the Woolite from my laundry room and give my sports bike the same treatment. Do I just pour it into the tank?
Conditions definitely less than ideal and I think the results were excellent. I would prefer to see an actual run on the drag strip if becomes available.

Your pulling all the way at the end revs, you down on torq there. Think shifting a little bit earlyer wil get you better results. Check your dynograph how the chart looks
I recommend getting a turbo fitted on the Busa, there’s lots of fun to be had😳😀 you would be wanting a longer track than that one though to make sure you get stopped from 200+mph runs. Great road bike standard though, more than enough power for road riding.
I guess the only true measure how good the is bike really is not how it sounds but how it makes you sound. Excellent video. I start to like this new busa more and more.
I don't believe this trickery, it's all camera angles and prerecorded engine sounds. But I will give you the opportunity to redeem yourself. I just need the bike for a long term assessment, say 10 years or so to verify your results. Deal? LOL, thanks for the presentation, awesome as always.
I don't really care what other bikes, cars might've run at some point in time, I have a tuned older bike that should be faster, but it doesn't matter !! - this series is about how straightforward mods help the performance of this bike and it's a very good series.....shame there was a strong crosswind, that would've cost some time compared with a still day. The extra attitude and sound would make these mods worth if alone 👍

I had a 2008 Gen 2 that would black your vision out for a second or two because it pulled so hard from a rolling start and it was stock with a full pipe and a PC5. This new Gen3 just doesn't seem to have the high Rev sound in the engine. It sounds like it has a redline of 15k, but redlines about 11k. It just sounds held back. Strange.
Still think that the ZX12R will leave even the new busa behind in every gear, I had one for 10 years with a power commander on and even the ZZR gen2 which I own as well struggled to stay with me.
@Street Bike USA it was 8 years ago now and I’ve had loads of bikes since but busa was stock apart from panel filter and power commander running on 99 octane , gearing was 2-3 down on the rear sprocket - 198.45 mph on 2 runs verified - fastest time of the day
So conclusion, Don’t tune your bike and spend a lot of money.. just wait for the wind to turn. Lol 😂 tuning didn’t do crap hahaha exhaust just made more noise. Means stock busa is amazing within emission regulations. And.. With more kg;)
I don't care if your torquless 1L revs to 29,000 RPM. It just doesn't sound like a big-bore-4 ripping down an airstrip. Love the sound of real fury and twist being made below 10,000 rpm. 5:59
We’re going through data, not sure if it’ll be that fast as it’s a short runway. Cost is a tough one, the system is about £1500 which Chris fitted himself, all the dyno and ECU mapping was free.
If the dyno time wasn’t free I know it costs about £90 for the licence to unlock the ECU and the rest is labour time on the dyno. My local place that runs the same equipment will do it for £350 all in and that includes mapping the fuel on upper and lower injectors and ignition timing as well as other racer stuff like fan cut in temp, exhaust servo, O2 sensors, air re-injection etc.
Am I right in thinking you spent somewhere in the vicinity of 2-2.5k pounds modifying and tuning the Hayabusa, and after that it achieved a 0.5 second faster standing 1/4 time than a stock bike, and theoretically threw the warrantee out the window and made it no better to ride on the road.
The stock ECU wont give full throttle opening until 5000 rpm. Because it is ride by wire throttle the ecu always controls throttle opening and "nannys" you. One of the main benefits of the derestrict is that it will now give whatever throttle your hand does, like a proper bike. That alone is worth the cost of remapping.
Time to put the hayabusa against some Porsche’s, Ferrari’s and Lamborghini’s, with the guys from carwow. Love to see Matt crying on some over expensive luxury 4 wheel nonsense. 👍😂😂😂🏍🚀🚀🚀
We all know these can be made to go fast in a straight line . What I would like to see is one of these around a road course and compare times every time a new mod is added like tires , suspension , brakes , tune and then at the end compare it to another bike to see if it can keep up.

Can you Drag Race with a Dr. Zeeshan from Pakistan he has So many super bikes like H2R, Hayabusa , Multistrada , he Often changes bikes his bike or Upgrade . He recently upgraded his Hayabusa which very fast he is going to D.R. with H2R soon

My 2008 Hayabusa has gone 8.98 @156. Just lowered, yoshi r77, and a non o ring chain. Stock tune with 87 octane gas.

It is, the fit's really good with the adjustable pads and vision is great on track. One of the best bits' the visor lock, works really well.
