Kith x New Balance 1700 Toronto "Rococco Red": Review & On-Feet

- To celebrate the opening of Kith's Toronto location, they are releasing two Canadian-themed colourways of the New Balance 1700. Today I'm reviewing the "Rococco Red" colourway which was sold first in-store at Kith Toronto to coincide with their opening day. Crafted using red pig-suede, they also have Kith co-branding throughout, and cream / white toned accents as well. Check out my review and drop a comment below!

As somebody who lined up for it from the night before, I’m very satisfied with this pair. The red looks even better in hand to me!

I came to Toronto for college, and so so so happy toronto can have its own Kith store😊
Wasn't going to cop these until I saw all the employees wearing them opening day. A lot cleaner in person. The cream mid sole hit is what does it for me. I'm going to love these cuz of the sentimental factor. I'm Canadian, I camped out and met some cool people and experienced a grand opening of a Kith store.

Never heard of the 1700 and those don’t look too bad. Kind of a 990v2 & 580 mix to me. Ronnie continues to bring great footwear for us and he rarely disappoints

Nice Sean and I’ve never had a 1700 so thank you for the sizing, fit and feel they’re nice and I usually don’t like all red shoes but they’re nice I want them I’ll swap the laces to the cream laces if I could get my hand on a pair.
beautiful visuals again Sean. def needs cream laces to offset that upper. can't wait for marshmellow's to arrive. will likely need to stretch out that pair as well to eliminate boxy optimus prime toebox!!!

Also, try the cream laces, made these so much more wearable

I can’t unsee that bulky toe box. Kinda kills it for me. Was going to go for the cream pair, now not so sure. $180 is also quite high considering you can get most MiUSA, 2002r, 1906 GRs on sale now.
I actually won the raffle for the red pair and I was unsure I was gonna keep but after watching your video I want to keep with switching the laces
So torn on this pair. Love that Kith is in TO and that red looks so good, but not sure how it would look on feet for me. The marshmallow pair looks to be more wearable but I would be happy if I could get either for retail!
I love them in hand. I got both pairs. On foot I think the toe shape looks cool and I have wide forefeet so they're so comfortable. I have probably 50 pairs of premium made in US NB, half are collabs, and these are easily one of the most comfortable pairs I own, and the red suede is insanely good. Like....stupid good lol. The marshmallows are good too but these are the winner

Thanks for the review Sean. Entered the drawing for the Rococco’s for the same sentimental reasons. Former 416er now residing in the 905. After seeing that toe box, not made in the USA, and lack of exclusive packaging…NGL…it’s a let down. That said… stoked to have KITH in TO. $10 flat rate shipping ain’t a bad thing either.

Nice shoe and great review. I do not like how NB cannot place the branding at the same place on the right tongue and left tongue (inconsistent spacing above '1700' on the right tongue from the left tongue), but this one's red on red, so not too noticeable, I guess.
I was able to cop these in store, and while I have a regular sized feet, I was able to wear half sized down, thanks to the bulky toe box that didn’t press on my toes.
In terms of made, I’ll assume 1700 will be produced in Asia moving forward, and NB wants a collab to introduce this new version.

I think the toe box appears on collab 1700s, I'm pretty sure the United Arrows 1700s have a big toe box too, maybe they're also made in Asia

This is 50/50 for me I got so many red shoes .
Or at least give us an better NB model.

The red is my fave but the suede is definitely a lower quality then the grey pair. The looser fibers can definitely get damaged easier when wearing or even bushing..Turning the whole shoe in a shaggy look losing the definition between cut panels. I would like to know if Kith made that toe like that on purpose or was it just the factory’s mistake?
I hope this project motivates New Balance to resurrect this silhouette like the way Ron did with the Frank Loyd Wright Foundation 998 collab. I’m not interested in the marshmallow colorway at all. Your Colorist pair look awesome, I never seen those before.
What 990 would you compare the comfort levels of this shoe ?
Closer to a v2 than any of the later models i guess.

That's a lot of red....The toe box is a turn-off for me. I just see wrinkles coming. Mesh would have been better IMO. I appreciate your videos. New Balance stays in my rotation.

Nice shoes but too bad this bulky toe box and the Asian fabrication considering the price. Got in July the NEW BALANCE 1500 X COLETTE X LAMJC "VIVRE SANS TEMPS MORT" so it’s a pass for another red shoes haha ❤

Funny you mention the price... and made in Asia. I have a grey and burgundy pair of 1700... Made in USA... copped at Ross for ONLY 25 bucks. It's one of my favorite shoes I own, and literally are damn near impossible to find in my size.
This one with it's bulky toe vox is an odd one.
I thought that these were made in Canada instead of the US. Wtf that's a huge letdown
