    It's always been very misunderstood, so I'm glad you mentioned it's real status as a smooth gt. There're many cars in the price bracket that are faster and more sporty but it's the style and more importantly the feel and sense of occasion that set it apart.

    • @TheAlfaNut
      @TheAlfaNut  Před 4 lety +2

      Thanks for watching Ted - I can easily imagine taking a V6 Brera on a European tour. (If they will let me in now of course!)

      Perfectly said. It's always bugged me when people criticise their 'racing' credentials. Ridiculous. They're incredibly well made, ooze style & they're very, very easy to fall in love with. If you're wanting a car to throw around country lanes, look elsewhere. If you're wanting a car that makes you feel distinctive and really rather special, get a Brera.
      I'll be driving mine until either it dies, or I do...

    Nice video!
    The Brera was named after a very trendy suburb in Milan called you guessed it “Brera”, near the central historical district.
    I used to live there and as an Australian, the history and glamour of this part of the city was mind blowing. When I was living there it was nowhere near as gentrified as it is now; bars, clothing stores, restaurants, cafes, design businesses, theatre.
    Really love your work.......I own a 159 tbi ti that is very rare in Sydney. For many Alfisti, this is the ultimate and ideal combo. 9 years old, not a problem in all that time and still tight. Looking to buy a 2nd hand Guilia QV in the new year, though the model refresh of the Guilia range is tempting me into a new Veloce.
    1st world problems! Lol.

    • @TheAlfaNut
      @TheAlfaNut  Před 4 lety

      Hi John, many thanks for watching and for the positive comments - much appreciated. Your 159 is the model I would own too - excellent choice! Coincidentally, my Cousin lives in Sydney and is also an Alfa Nut!
      I have also decided to get a Giulia in the Spring but have the same dilemma as you! I have driven both cars now and the Veloce is the most sensible and well-balanced daily car but 4 - wheeled nutcases like the Quad will probably be banned in a few years time, so I am finding myself magnetically drawn to those! All the best.

    • @TheAlfaNut
      @TheAlfaNut  Před 4 lety

      My cousin is called Lee Jeffery. Formerly from Northumberland in the North of England. Yes I know what you mean about supporting Alfa by buying a new car, I feel the same and a little bit guilty about considering a used car, as Alfa don’t benefit from that. I’m struggling to resist a used Quadrifoglio though.....😛

    I owned 2009 Brera 3.2 V6 CA Q4 Ti . I owned her till 2018. That was the best car i have ever owned. 1850kg weight powered by 260 BHp and Q4 combined was reflecting on consumption over 20 ltrs in the city and 15-20 on motorway. Handling was ok, but lack of power was the problem. My verdict for Brera with V6 engine and Q4 is that alfa should have built-in lighter V6-Busso or add more HP's, something around 300-350 would be ideal weigth to power ratio.
    Overall is the great car!!

      @@TheAlfaNut no probs! Q4 would be the option for me and v6 with TC. Front wheel drive is not my thing anymore. I owned many Alfas, sometimes 2-3 at the same time in my garage. Rear wheel drive or 4x4 is my preference now. If i would buy Brera again it would be the same as i had before but than i would add some HP....
      2.2 4 cylinder even with 250+ hp is for girls 😅 it is still FWD not RWD or Q4 as it should be.
      I owned 2004-2009 AR GT V6 241HP, great car, maybe if i give a little thought is better than Brera even though 2 completely different cars and if GT was rear RWD or Q4 i would still have her in my garage...

    Sometimes I look on autotrader, thinking of another. But has to be that combo and seems rare. Have even checked my old reg on the MOT site, curious how it’s doing. No luck. So wonder if now on a private plate. Though I once saw a blue and tobacco interior on eBay, the passenger airbag had gone off. I fear it was my old car.

      Brera has been the only car I’ve owned and look back at wishing I still had. The driving dynamics weren’t great being front wheel drive, but the looks and the interior styling lifted it above most other cars. Since Portugal gives you hell over post '07 july registry and doubles, if not triple road taxes, and the scales are still stacked towards diesel, a pre-07 jtdm would be a fun choice to at the very least try to keep, same as the beautiful example featured in your video. @@TheAlfaNut Well, you're no help! I've been looking at these for last couple of months and will buy one or the other in the next month or so. It'll be a 2.0 or 2.2 engine; the Brera, as you say, is prettier and has the skyview roof (a sunroof would have been nice, but neither car had this), the GT is around 15 - 20% cheaper for a similar age and mileage. @@nauticski nauticski All depends on your priorities. The GT, as you'll know, is quicker. The Brera, however, has a different class of build quality. The cabin in the GT is pretty cheap and dated, where as the Brera's makes you never want to step out of it.
      Plus, the Brera has the edge aesthetically. Tricky one, I went through a similar dilemma. End of the day, if your key motivator is performance, go with the GT. If you're getting old though & just want something that makes you feel a million dollars, go with the Brera. Just don't expect it to perform how it looks like it should perform... ;)

      @@AdAstra78 Many thanks for that. I don't think the differnce in performance is a dealbreaker (yes, I'm getting old!). I'd also read the driving position in the Gt is better, that the driver sits too high in the Brera, don't know if it's true.

In fact, it is by far the comfiest car I've ever driven. Weird one...I'd definitely recommend having a go in them both. I'm fond of the GT, but it's the look and the cabin/build quality of the Brera that sealed it for me. I do understand those who prefer the GT though...just depends where your priorities lie..(ps.
