I've had my Labrador for 9 years now and he's the most affectionate, loving dog who makes me smile every day no matter what he does and has some special way of comforting me when I'm sad. I love him, he loves me & I'd recommend this breed to ANYONE who was thinking of getting one.
I just adopted a 10 year old black lab as a result of her owner moving overseas...OMG! I've always wanted a lab, but she outdoes herself! Shes extremely well trained and every day is an absolute pleasure!!! I am in love with my dog!!!
I love my Labrador. He truly makes my day better when I'm bored or depressed :D He's just 8 months old and already looks like an adult. Who knows how big he'll truly grow in the future

I grew up with 3 labradors.. they were narc dogs.. but in my eyes they were my best friends :) i miss them so much..
My two black labs are ALWAYS following me and never get tired of playing or being with me. Definitely the type of dog for people who would want something/someone to always be there for them. :D

I have a black lab and he's very healthy.he's still a puppy but more of a teenager kind of puppy.he's very active verytime hes sees someone come into our yard he runs up to them and jumps on em.hes great with our famaly because he can be gentle enought to play with a baby and rough enough to play with a 30 year old man.His name is Max and everyone on our street loves to see him!

I have a huge American Labrador Retriever named Luke - he weighs 140 pounds but is not, according to my vet, the least bit overweight. He is wonderful - loyal - loving - mellow - and a total family member. Once you go lab - you don't go back.

I love labradors! I miss my lab so much, your name was Dante. I don't know where he is now, all that my parents told me is that he's at a farm now... It was when I travel to my grandfathers house and come back to home, he was not there anymore so I cryed like a kid.

I love my lab!! She's so intelligent and is actually a very good guard dog and watches over my 7 year old daughter. One thing I have to watch out for is when I take her for a walk, I have to keep her on a lead when we are near water as she will just jump in it - she jumped in a canal a few weeks ago and it terrified me. We do let her swim in safe areas though and she loves it.
I have a lab it just turned 13 weeks and its called Selma!!:D:D jus love it!

My brothers lab is 16 years old.. and still happy as he can be... normally they get 12-14 years old on average :)

The retrieving instinct thing is so true - I used to give our dog an empty water bottle just to carry when I walked him and he'd walk so much better and he was like 'Oh, this is my job. I'm the water bottle carrier' :)
I think he was an American Labrador because he was a good deal bigger than almost all the other Labradors I saw, I think they were English ones.
But if you're getting one think about getting a Lab cross - purebred Labs get so many health problems. Especially Obesity + arthritis.
I long for a fatty lab!... He would be as spoiled as possible. :-)))

i live in a apartment and my lab is doing great walks are very important and i have a big yard in the back of my appartments so that helps also but i say go get one they are wonderful
The bigger type are the show dogs which were typically used for retreiving things in water, the slimmer/smaller dogs are typically used as land retreivers. Both have excellent temprement and make great pets for active families with lots of space. mine is huge and just turned 4 and is starting to calm down a little now, he is the 4th ive owned and i cant fault him one bit.

Our breeder uses Eukanuba, but we have since changed our labs to Purina Pro Plan large breed. Our Vet recommended it. We have 3 labs and they all love it. They also make a weight management dog food that one of ours is on and she loves it too.

I LOVE my labby she is the sweetest dog in the world i have a creek in my back yard and everytime she goes outside in the summer or days that its hot she will run down to the creek jump in it swim for 20 minutes or until i call her a she comes running to me soking wet! i love her so much and she has soooo much energy but she is 9 years old! the sweetest dog of all time

our yellow lab is a great watch dog, and it is extremely friendly. My grandma came to our house today to get some stuff when we weren't home but Nika (our dog) would not let her in at all. Mainly because she is unfamiliar to my grandma, even when she had a sandwich to bribe her...

I have never encountered a mean Lab. I have a 10 year old female named Lucy. The only thing labs are good for as far as home defense is letting you know someone is coming. My dog is afraid of the vacuum cleaner... Labs are perfect if you have a house full of kids, they will never get bored. Swimming is the best exercise for them. It works them hard, but no impact on the joints. Even at age 10 she will swim after tennis balls for hours.

Yesterday my yellow Labrador was hit by a car when he was walking in the park. He died after 5 minutes... Part of me has gone with him, I really miss my boy! RIP Scott. :'(

I was looking for a video of labs to help me deal with mine.Hes 13 years old and God wants him back. Inever knew what love was until i got my baby all those years ago.I never thought of him dying and now that its time i'm destroyed. i cant let go of him. Its hard to tell God thanks and i can only pray he knows.I cant let go.
