I agree that many people start and then quit later. Of the drugs available it is the easiest to come off of. Point is its still a drug and the culture surrounding it so strongly encourages exploration that its VERY common for people to get into stronger more dangerous drugs as a result. That is not to lessen the effect of it though. Weed does damage. Easily discernable damage at that.

I'm quitting after this one!" Next day they are right back at it. Maybe you are not, but in my experiences most users who say they aren't addicted are on it all the freakin time.

You still have to get the same amount of THC to reach that high, but now also have to inhale more of the other tars to get there. In essence you use more marijuana and get the same high. Beyond the fact that it is extremely addictive (yes like alcohol which also has similar negative affects when used in excess). It may be a part of your religion, but that doesn't make it not a drug, and it doesn't take away the effect that it has. I live in freakin Portland Oregon, I know too many people who have thrown their life and their skating away because they wanted to just smoke.
People can do what they want man. I just get tired of seeing dudes waste their life because they want some high to escape their problems. Every action has a consequence. I still hang with dudes who smoke, I don't make less of them for it, but to say that its not addictive and that it doesn't affect you is flat out wrong. Also, the bong simply cools the smoke and may filter some (not much) of the THC but leaves more tars and typically means one has to smoke more to get high. The bong is worse.

Many people lose all motivation, and live each day just to smoke another bowl. However, it is NOT a gateway drug and it doesn't ruin EVERYONE'S lives. I know some super productive/brilliant stoners, but I know many more stoners that are losers.
