UPDATED SUPERCOMP WORKFLOW! Instead of a displacement layer, you can now use the shockwave as an adjustment layer and apply a displacement effect to it AS WELL AS a color correction effect for more control.

I used Fractal Noise maps for Force effects of Vader: Shards of the Past. Definitely a useful tool for Force effects.

Have you thought about including project files with these short tutorials? You couldn't include the LUTS but presumably, the footage is yours.

Vrozini Sigh. Adobe after effects with some plugins from Red Giant. The version really doesn't matter, but probably the most recent one.

after adding the displacement, my comp goes black. Why?
You're in Supercomp, you turn your displacement layer to be a displacement layer, and then it goes black? It's likely an issue with your GPU. It may be underpowered for the task.

You dont need red giant software for this. There are plenty of rutorials on youtube for lightning in AE

Well, you can't learn anything from that tutorial because you have to pay hundreds of dollars to get those plugins...
I think only 5% of all viewers own them.
Then this is for that 5%. Sure you can find something more along your level of understanding and affordability, and not complain because YOU clicked a video, but can't afford the plug ins

Nah he could be faster even. This tutorial is if you all ready know how these things work. If not they have plenty of longer tutorials to watch that will eventually make this make sense
If you are struggling to keep up with this tutorial then it may be too advanced for your current skill level. If you visit Red Giants website, there are plenty of resources for beginners. You also may want to take a fundamentals course on After Effects to help better understand the UI.
