Maravilhoso blues interpretado por Elis Regina, a nossa pimentinha da Música Popular Brasileira. Saudades!
Thanks for watching!! Glad you liked it. 😊💙
She was the most important Brazilian singer in the 1960s/70s/80s. She died too young, but her albuns are masterpieces.
I can imagine! May her memory live on.💓
Oh yeah
the puppets were representing the parents(that’s why she points at them that time singing “ainda somos os mesmos e vivemos como os nossos pais”). this performance is from a tv show that its musical performances used to have some theatrical aspects and stuff(so she’s not only singing the song but interpreting it. she was a really special artist and we brazilians miss her so much).
the song is a criticism about the dictatorship in brazil at that time and the youth behaving like older generation, reproducing the lives of their parents.
Hi Danilo, thank you, other people have given similar explanations, but I didn't know it was a special performance for TV! Thanks for the info and for watching! 😄💚
cada palavra que saia da boca de Elis Regina era degustada como se fosse um manjar dos deuses, sem duvida a melhor cantora brasileira de todos os tempos
Such beautiful words 🙌🏼☺️💖
Queen of Brazil👑❤️

Elis Regina era a maior cantora do Brasil. Continua sendo! Ela vive em sua maravilhosa obra eterna!
She has an amazing voice! 🙌🏼 I can imagine the big impact she must've had on Brazilian culture. 💟🌟
Elis Regina tem um repertório tão lindo, mas parece que só existe essa para quem busca mostrar seu talento incrivel.
Elis Regina was considered by the music critics of several newspapers, including The New York Times, as the best singer in the world.
Nice!! It was probably so long ago that my generation didn't really get to hear much about her. Thank you for watching!! 😊👋🏼💚

And the thing about knowing what the lyrics say it's something quite unique! You should go on this way!
Many people have shared their interpretations of the lyrics, and it has been very interesting to read! 👌🏼💞
Hi, I'm a Brazilian woman, and this song talks a lot about dictatorship.
Hello! Thanks for the info., a few others mentioned that as well! 😊💕
that's the right lyrics translation
I don't want to tell you, my great love
From the things I learned on records
I want to tell you how I lived
And everything that happened to me
Living is better than dreaming
I know that love is a good thing
But I also know that any song
It's smaller than the life
of anyone
So take care my dear
there is danger around the corner
they won
And the semaphore is closed to us
that are young
To hug your brother
And kiss your girl on the street
Was made your arm,
your lip and your voice
you ask me about my passion
I say I'm delighted
as a new invention
I will stay in this city
I'm not going back to the backwoods
Because I see it coming on the wind
Smell of new season
I know everything in the living wound
From my heart
It's been a while I saw you on the street
hair in the wind
young people gathered
on the wall of memory
this memory
It's the painting that hurts the most
my pain is realizing
that although we have
done everything we did
we are still the same
and we live
we are still the same
and we live
like our parents
Our idols are still the same
and appearances
don't cheat
You say that after them
No one else showed up
you can even say
that I'm out of the loop
Or that I'm making up
But it's you who loves the past
and who doesn't see
It’s you who loves the past
and who doesn't see
that the new always comes
Today I know who gave me the idea
Of a new awareness and youth
Are at home
saved by god
counting vile metal
my pain is realizing
That despite having done everything, everything
everything we did
we are still the same
and we live
we are still the same
and we live
we are still the same
And we live
like our parents
😃👌🏼
It’s talking not about a man, but a society. That was a song to reach the youth to fight for democracy against the Brazilian military dictatorship.

The song was composed during Brazilian’s military dictadorship. Its a protest song. The composer is the guy who plays the guitar at the beggining of the video. His name is Belchior, another great Brazilian artist.

React to a dupla sertaneja (sertanejo duo), its a brazilian music style, something like de american country, but it stands out for the fact, that most of singers are doubles, brothers, cousins, friends, where one is the first voice that carries the main melody of the song, and another is the second voice that accompanies the first, usually using 3rd intervals. This style, the "musica sertaneja" is one of the most important in the country, with a massive artist, a genuine Brazilian rhythm
I recommend "Evidências" from Chitãozinho e Xororo, with more than 40 years of career and one of the precursors of this style, and this music is like a national song, all Brazilians were born knowing how to sing this song, many don't know the anthem, but sing Evidências. When play "Evidências" there is no more black or white .. believer or atheist .. leftist or rightist .. rich or poor .. everyone is one, everyone is the same Brazilian, all the problems in the world disappear in that time interval, just sing and be happy.

Hi Marcelo! Thanks for watching. 😄 I love Brazilians and have heard some Brazilian music in the past, but Turkish people currently seem to be more interested in my reactions! 😅 I'll still continue making reactions based on upvotes⬆️, so if people wanna see it, I will do it! 💓
Hi.
My understanding from a straight read*:
Althrough all we've done (supposelly different),
We are the same, just like our parents
We think we have new ideas, idols, actions and reactions. But at the end we think, act and react just like our parents did...
The puppets/dolls represent a family (the parents she mention in the song):
* As pointed in other comments, many brazilian songs released from early 60's to the beginning of 80's have a lot of references about a not so good time we lived in Brazil...
Be safe.
HI! Thank you for the input! 😊🙌🏼
Elis Regina was a great Brazilian singer. This was written and sang during the military dictatorship times 1964-1985 and so the lyrics are made in metaphors not to be censored by the regime. That also explains her emotions + the way she faces the cameras /as she was facing the regime/military + pulling out faces =D horrible times and now we are again having our democracy threatened by bolsonaro
Woah!! Very interesting!!! Yes you could feel that strong passion... She was telling them with her eyes! Thank you for sharing and let's pray for our countries!!! 🙏🏼❤️❤️
Yay, more brazilian songs. One recomendation: Chão de Giz by Zé Ramalho. Beautiful song.
Now, about this song... she is actually talking about the time we were living here in brazil during the dictatorship, it was a very hard time, a lot of people getting killed and tortured for speaking their minds. This woman was singing this in the middle of it.
Thanks for recommending, and wow! I knew there was a much deeper meaning that I wasn't picking up on. That makes me love the song even more! We should always speak up against injustice and evil, love it!!! 🙌🏼 💯❤️

She is not talking about a guy. She was persecuted by military dictatorship. The song it's about that anger of that generation to this lack of freedom.

Yes!! 🙌🏼 Love it💖
This song was written by a brazilian singer and composer called Belchior (you can find him in CZcams as well) who used to write a lot about conflict of generations and about the social and political situation in Brazil during the military dictatorship after the 1964 coup. This song talks a lot about that, and the frustration that Belchior felt about the fact that the rebel youngsters from 60's lost their utopia and became conformists, getting addapted to the conservative society ruled by the military. I think this song is an anthem for those generation and also for ours (specially for brazilians under Bolsonaro and his protofascist government), and the lyrics has the explanation itself, but it is better understood being analyzed within the overall work by Belchior. What Elis Regina did was to raise this song to the level of perfection.

Hello, my interpretation of this song that Belchior wrote, and in this video is sung by Elis is
Despite everything that the Brazilian people went through, we continue to make the same mistakes, we remain intolerant, racist, homophobic, we continue to appease dictators and flirting thoughts with fascism and nationalism, we continue to think only each one without himself and we forget the people who are on our side, especially when a person has access to power and money, he forgets that he was once poor and starts to think that is part of the country's ruling class. This was written with the military dictatorship in mind, it is a pity that it continues today, and it is a pity that Belchior was right, and we are still the same and we live, but now as our grandparents. In addition, the music also criticizes how the media of the time exalted certain artists who were considered intellectuals and elite, but who were certainly great artists, but there is a frustration of Belchior to see so many people with so much talent not being recognized, but I believe that this is not the main subject of the music. Anyway, these are my considerations, it is a song that despite not seeming, it is loaded with a lot of pain, hate and frustration, at the same time that it is a powerful and important critic.
Hi Randi, thank you so much for your thoughts on the song! Many people have mentioned similar things, I appreciate your interpretation. 😊💓 Cheers to a brighter future! ✨
