    About Equal Rights:
Equal Rights brought together Peter Tosh's dedications to the revolutionary movements growing in Africa, and the mysticism and wonders of his personal growth as a prophet, poet, preacher and world-class musical trailblazer. The album included a number of songs that became human rights anthems over the next two decades: Get Up, Stand Up, Downpressor Man, African, Apartheid, and the title tune.

    Lyrics:
Everyone is crying out for peace, yes
None is crying out for justice
Everyone is crying out for peace, yes
None is crying out for justice
    I don't want no peace
I need equal rights and justice
I need equal rights and justice
I need equal rights and justice
Got to get it, equal rights and justice

The seventies were defining moments for the world and Jamaican Reggae superstars like Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Burning Spear, U Roy etc were the standard flagbearers that defined the adolescent philosophy of that beautiful time.
Social Justice, equity and equality, greater say in society and busting confidence in oneself.
We were misunderstood by our parents, our senior siblings and later our early employers
We are now in our 60s but have been largely shaped by that philosophy which we have carried to date.
I do not know why Jamaica does not produce these types anymore.

Always felt Peter Tosh does not get the recognition he truly deserves. His singing is majestic. His lyrics are thought provoking in terms of the messages conveyed. The individual elements of the Wailers in terms of Peter, Bunny and Bob demonstrate their strengths, whether together or on their own. The musicianship it is of the highest quality too.

I felt you . Went to Jamaica just to go to his recently opened museum , was wondering around looking for the address , ask some of the youths walking by if they knew where it was , no one gave me a single clue of the museum location, it’s like they don’t care or didn’t even know who peter Tosh was ...it was so sad , this guy is a Jamaican icon and you don’t know your roots and history . I was upset but finally found the place

Today I still search for morals, but realise he gave me something equally important...self worth, love, and peace from within...I am so glad and humbled that human beings like Peter Tosh have, and do live...like fire that refuses to go out, or a light to guide us all...thank you Peter, you mean the world to me.

If you Google the production details of this 1977 album you might be surprised to learn that Peter Tosh asked several of THE WAILERS to play on this album. I've always known this was Peter's best album, 1. because it is righteous, and 2. The music is tight, so perfect from the clavinet and drumming by Aston Barrett - And REST IN PEACE, BUNNY WAILER puts in an aopearance, authentic ONE DROP DRUMMING

Bob Marley was great no doubt, however his music made you want to get up and dance or be happy, but I've always been a Peter Tosh fan because his music made me sit up and think about a world that I lived in with no peace and justice in our communities(black)and his music made you look within to see where you stood in this oppressive world, are you on the top end or the bottom. Tosh's music is definitely for all ages and era's especially the one that's fell on us lately(George Floyd's death)!!!
