  • I had the opportunity to meet up with a veteran dredger named Ace. He was gracious enough to show me some tricks of the trade and share some of his knowledge with me. So we met up and took his 3" and my 2" Dredge down to Coker creek for an late winter dredging trip!

    good video Jeff, looked like a nice area and some nice quartz rocks... Good luck this season and I hope the coker creek chapter and Tnn can come up with something good for all the dredgers down there... May you always have a flash in your pan...

    I love that small dredge! Looks like you can pretty much get that to fit onto an aluminum backpack frame. Where did you get it? Or if you made it, do you have a parts list? I need one.

    Hey Jeff, really like your videos. I have a bigger dredge setup but also I have that same blue pump you are using on yours. I'm wanting a smaller dredge and thinking about building one. What size diameter pvc pipe are you using for your floats? How well do they hold up that blue pump from sinking? Thanks, Jon.

    Hey Jeff I'm in planning stages of a small dredge build. I was wondering if your pontoons were 6 inch? It looks to have plenty of floatation. My pump weighs 52 lbs and I'm a little worried. I was thinking about using elbows to continue the pontoons all the way around but I'm worried about the sluice and pump being up to high then. Any suggestions?

    How's that working for ya with the venturi in backwards? Even if it was pointed in the rite direction it will blow the pipe out. The angle of the inlet on the venturi is 11 degrees and mounted near enough to the out-let that rocks do not hit the pipe. Find someone that can weld and build one out of zink plated steel.

      I saw your project and found it ideal for my plans ... I live in Brazil and as you know there are rivers filled with gold, but mining is only released for companies.
      Goataria help me by sharing the model you used to make this dredging if possible ... from now thank you! my whatsapp is 5562998410341

    I don't like dredging. I can move 2 tons a dirt a day with a shovel and dredging seems to take so much longer.

    • @governmentcheese411
      @governmentcheese411 Před 9 lety

      joshthefootballgod no sir, not at all. like anything, the setup itself makes all the difference. but a dredge compared to shoveling is no comparison. the dredge will out perform you all day long. and on every level. i don't care how fit you are. with a shovel, you're gonna have pauses every few minutes. you're gonna be constantly resituating your gear every so often, as well. a dredger can jump in and go hog wild for several hours straight, without a pause. and even a modest 2 inch dredge will move a shovel of dirt, through its hose, every couple of seconds. but most of all is the knowledge of how gold deposits. which points out the advantages. gold forms very deep in the ground. the gold we get, came up with the mountains and various other geologic occurrences. hence why every gold mine on earth is either on or into a mountain or is a deep excavation mine. thus, ALL that gold errodes down, like everything else, into the surrounding areas. always moving towards the lowest point. I.E....riverbeds. which act like giant gold traps.
      i would like to add, that all that is coming from a profitability and efficiency perspective. when it comes to recreational mining, the ideology changes things a bit. i enjoy traveling to various mines all over the world. and in those situations, i'm looking for "the one". a real nice picker, unique to that region, to add to my collection.
