Carmen was completely justified in being angry. Lydia was a complete jerk to her and this whole situation is humiliating to Carmen. They acted like she wasn't even a person.
It was more the tailor-she was the one who kept saying “the other one.” Lydia was more guilty by association because she didn’t correct it.
Honestly, I think Lydia was caught in a tough situation. She clearly didn’t know how strained things were between Carmen and her dad and is probably feeling bowled over. Carmen had every right in the world to be angry, but most of it wasn’t really about Lydia, it was about Carmen’s dad (who was a total idiot). He has minimal contact with his daughter for years, and then when she comes to visit for what he lets her think it the first long visit probably ever, he springs it on her that oh, by the way, I’m (1) seeing someone (2) living with her (3) ENGAGED to her! Oh yeah, and you’re going to be in the wedding with her KIDS who live with me and you don’t! And he actually expects her to be happy about it. It’s no wonder she’s furious. Lydia and her kids just became the targets of Carmen’s years-worth of pent-up anger because she didn’t feel secure enough with her dad to direct it at him.
That lady was never mean to her in any way! The step mother is not the villain!

It wasn’t, this is just a small scene of the pain she was dealing with. It wasn’t about race at all.
She probably maybe reference bc of the type of food Carmen might eat with her mom and what she might thinks a typical white blonde would eat. But I agree the whole race thing doesn’t make sense really

@@abbeytheartist5427 white girls can also be a little bit more curvy its IMPOSSIBLE for me to find pants that actually fit. Because ether they are too small for my waist and perfect for my butt and thighs (but because its too small for my waist it falls off) or its good for my waist and super tight on my butt and thighs. I have had a very frustrating life because yes i am bigger but my fat is mainly on my curves so bras don't fit, pants don't fit, it really sucks. My family doesn't really have that problem because they don't have most of there fat on there curves they have it on like there belly. But i suppose maybe that's why my boyfriend decided to date me? Because my body type is i suppose perhaps more similar to someone who might be Latina (even though im white) and he has a thing for super pale skin ( im allergic to the sun so i cant even kinda tan).
