The truth is that I always say that in spite of how beautiful these awards are, for me individual awards are a secondary thing, first is the collective.
But it is true that today is also a night and a special day for me, I'm lucky to have my wife sitting there and especially two of my three children. I say above all because it is the first time they are here, although Thiago was already in one of these galas he was very small and does not remember anything. Today seeing him there and enjoy this moment with them, for me it is something unique, it is priceless.
Both are in love with football and are freaking out seeing all the players around them with embarrassment. They don't know if saying hello or asking for a photo. They are very shy and happy at the same time.
That is why I say that today is an extraordinary night and day for me to share with them and obviously with Ciro who stayed at home. With three it was already very difficult to come so he had to stay at home. Thank you all very much again.

I’m a Liverpool fan and though VVD had a great season, Leo Messi remains the greatest footballer of his generation, as long as he is playing. Not only his stats are remarkable but he can do almost everything on the pitch. Having said that, this award however lost some credibility with the inclusion of so many Madrid players ... felt Trent and Robertson should be in the best 11. It was also a bit difficult to exclude Mane

I love that moment that all stand respecting him, and he is so humble.
In addition to being a very skillful player, he is not arrogant. He never said that I am the best or better than anyone. Although many provoked him. Such a great player I may not see again in my life. I have seen Maradona, Gullit, Basten, Matthäus, Zidane, Ronaldinho, Ronaldo and many other great players. But Messi is for me somebody else.
I agree in football skill or whatever you want to be the measure for goat. He's among the greatest no doubt. I always enjoyed to see Ronaldinho play more than Messi (the sheer joy to play football has never been more visible to my eyes) - but that's just my reception of the game and what I saw players do on the pitch, but Messi in prime is something else as well. Unfortunately I think from the great players you mentioned - who would you like to travel with for two weeks, or to work with for two years? I don't know - it feels to me like Messi had never the chance to grow as a person. Completely flat and boring personality. Humble? Giving? I don't know. He feels like a little child - completely clueless about the lifes his adorers are living.
