The drums are definitely live. I saw them last summer in Sweden and was amazed by Kai live.

There are not many bands that sound as good live as they do on recordings. Nightwish are one of those and that is why they are in my top four bands of all time. Right up there with Pink Floyd, Rush and Genesis.
I get what your saying but Nightwish sounds good live because 80% of what comes out of the PA is pre-recorded, autotuned and programed. Listen to other symphonic metal bands that play 100% live with orchestras and see the difference.
@@NPK476 Yes that is true for sure. I would love to see Nightwish do a live show with a full orchestra. That would be awesome. Just heard that they are planning to tour again until at least 2026. Who knows by then maybe a certain bearded bass player will make his return.
@@NPK476 That's a bit salty, 80%? Some orchestral stuff (some is keyboard samples) and some backing vocals like choir and occasionally Floor's own harmonies that's more like 10% of prerecorded. Not saying Nightwish with an full orchestra wouldn't be epic but I think you'll find they wouldn't have as much to do you think unless the songs are rearranged for an orchestra.

Did you see that Floor was performing pregnant in some scenes? She kept performing until she collapsed after a show in Vaasa Finland, and was dragged to the hospital probably stil holding the mic.
In October 2023 her daughter Lucy was born.

Kai is called the human metronome. Yes he did all the drumming live. He had to add a bunch of new drums to his kit for this song.
Kai is a fukn BEAST on the Skins. That is all him. He and Jukka are both students of Tribal drumming. African, Jamacen etc.
Kai is a world class drummer and that's all him.
Worth checking out his Wintersun or Rotten Sound stuff for some more hardcore drumming,.
Kai's speed, stamina and accuracy is off the charts and Nightwish drumming is relaxing in comparison.
Kai does play the whole drum section live. His base pedal work is amazing and kit is right handed although he is left handed for additional versatility. I believe there is a drum cam version somewhere out there. By the way the concert by the lake was one from the last as Floor collapsed after the next show in June and gave birth to her daughter Lucy in October. It's also quite possible that other extracts were taken from shows before and after her treatment for cancer in late 2022.
